Not taking away from Sekita at all but blocking is 110% timing. I'm 5ft6 and I've blocked people 6ft6 before. I'm an outside so matchups are different obviously but that shit should not happen. like at all. Sekita's form and mid air hang time is so beautiful to watch. He's technically one of the most sound blockers out there. Just by watching him you can learn so much. You should look at hiroaki asano as well he's 5ft10 and hes the starting outside for the jtekt stings who won v league this season.

Yea, the sport deserves the recognition because it’s really fun, but as someone who plays volleyball for their school and is decent at the sport, it’s very frustrating when people compare the anime and the sport, they can’t just walk in the gym and expect to be good like in the anime(I’ve really seen this too, it’s hilarious and an embarrassment)

@@cheesymac6732 when people mention haikyuu in a context like this, i don’t think they mean to say that volleyball is easy. if anything, haikyuu shows that volleyball really takes a lot of hard work to get good at. haikyuu has made me appreciate the sport and all the hard work the players do a lot more. not to say you’re wrong. there are some people who are ignorant enough to compare real life to anime and i can see how it would be frustrating.

@@cheesymac6732 Many sports animes cover loss, dedication and that "talent" or "being a genius" isn't enough. Some of my favorite sports characters were the underdogs and or plain characters. Like the clinch server in haikyuu or Ippo from Hajime no Ippo, one of the most famous sports mangas. It can be frustrating when people compare the two, sure. But also, the writer of Haikyuu used to play volleyball and has a passion for the sport. Now, if you've seen first hand, unathletic people, or overconfident people just thinking they can immediately be good, they're likely the minority. Most people are smart enough to understand that it isn't as easy as it looks. And it's an insult that you act like it's common.

@@bacon6734 well that won't help you. A libero should be good at setting and receiving. I'm pretty sure there was this one part where Noya played the role of a setter. So if you want to be a libero I recommend being a setter first. Its going to help you so much and I'm talking from experience. I also want to be a libero from the moment I learned what a libero was but my coach instead made me a setter and that helped me alot. Anyways I also think that haikyuu made me a "better" player. I started volleyball before haikyuu and when I watched the anime I loved it. It did taught me things pretty early on so yeah.

A lot of Haikyuu moves are inspired from the Japanese national team so I wouldn't be surprised xD at 2:25 it is also very similiar to the synchronized attack from Karasuno, it's a genius move 😍

@@tinycharlie6694 not specifically Japan's Vball Team moves, but actually Volleyball moves and techniques in general. In a pro level Vball, variety of attacks like Pipe, Block out, and Synched Attack are common to use. Kinds of spikes like Deep Cut Shot or Straight Shot is also common. The only thing that rare to be seen is the Minus Tempo Quick and undeniably very hard to execute, because it needs super high accuracy for the setter.

@@ravell.ananta5466 True, of course they use Volleyball moves in general but I think they might focus on Japanese teams a little, since it takes place in Japan ^^ The Japanese team has a very unique style, like every team has, they are very quick and creative with their moves and everyone plays a pretty equal part while the Iranian team is pretty much guided by their setter (as an example) and I think this Japanese form to play is kind of shining through the anime xD (esp. Karasuno) I play volleyball myself so I am aware that block outs, and quick attacks are common moves

The author of haikyuu is a volleyball player himself (MB as I rmb). He started drawing haikyuu because there were less and less male volleyball players in Japan. He wanted to get more young players to be interested in volleyball, and haikyuu successfully achieves this goal. So I would say haikyuu not only gets more people to watch volleyball (irl) but also contributes to the development of male volleyball.
