This really resonates with me!!! I went to Art School in the early 1990's and was told that if I wanted to be taken seriously as an artist then I should not touch anything that bordered on craft or that could be termed 'women's art'. This included weaving, tapestry, basket making, knitting, quilting, etc. It was definitely considered a lesser art form at the time! When I left I became a full time craftsperson working in wood and then leather, and now, in wool as well. Processing my own fleeces, dyeing, spinning, weaving and felting, feels like coming home. I draw on inspiration from the countryside around me and feel excited about trying to capture the changing seasons in wearable art. I love your work Moy, it's beautiful, it was a little bit of joy finding this video. Best wishes to you!
Moy is my favorite fibre artist!!❤❤
This is so beautiful and the fibres are so delicate. Really appreciated watching her mindful practice, using nature as an inspiration. Felting would be something I’d love to try out.
Thank you, I share your philosophy of what art is. A genuine need to express one’s living experience both physically and emotionally without the trappings of the celebrity syndrome. Very inspiring, bravo. Marijo
I’ve been an admirer for about 10 years, and you gave me courage to be more daring with what I do in felt, especially adding stitching. Thanks, Moy.
Fantastic video I am so glad that you showed your outdoor sitting area
Lovely!!!
Beautiful 😍
A beautiful piece of art created through, to me, an amazing process!
patrzeć na świat w taki sposób i tak kolorowo żyć. gratuluję, podziwiam, życzę wszystkiego co najlepsze i biorę się do pracy. to co zobaczyłam jest dla mnie ogromnie kolorową inspiracją.
Excellent! Really excellent! 💜💜💜
I love your art! You’re right about the color. It’s like alive. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and art!
I love your work and your beautiful Scottish accent. My dear friend Wendy was from Arboath and I could listen to her talk all day long. Sadly we lost her to cancer a few yrs ago, but thank you for reminding me how much Ive missed her and what a treasured friend she was. Cheers from stinking hot FL. ;-)
Absolutely gorgeous ❤ Louise and Emily
Beautiful and skilful! ❤
I love to paint and embroider. I feel like this is almost a marriage of the two by treating the wool fibers as paint. I definitely want to try my hand at this
Gorgeous, the colors are amazing, the artwork, Wow!

👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪
One of the reasons it wasn't categorized as fine art is because it was predominantly a women's art ... cynical? Maybe, but that doesn't make it any less true. This is lovely work and so inspiring. Would love to find more of this woman's work.

She has a Gallery in Peebles and a website! Moy Mackay is a wonderful teacher as well. I was fortunate enough to “cross the pond” and go to one of her art retreats!
