The Anor Londo river

Ойындар

A video on the old style, just me waking around showing a river that comes from Anor Londo
I noticed that for some reason when I edit videos recorded with plays.tv using sony vegas there's some little cracking noises that really annoy me, they aren't in the video itself, they only appear on sony vegas when I edit this specific dark souls videos.
I tested windows DVR from windows 10, and I liked it, but sadly it's only at 30 FPS so I gave up on it. I also already tried OBS but when I try to record anything like a video or game the screen freezes in the video recorded.

adradox well they did it later in dark souls 3 but they weren't thinking in doing it here cause those cities are full of people and there is a lack of new enemies. The game will get boring for fighting the same enemies for two and overall the lack of ideas for the location.

when you look over the walls of anor londo and see just how close the parish and sen's fortress were to it, it really takes your breath away. that this world which seems so giant can be so heavily interconnected is nothing short of incredible, and i don't think there's been any games before or since that had worlds so heavily connected like this one is. it's honestly fucking beautiful.

Well, that certainly used to be the actual gate to Anor Londo (for those who were worthy enough to get past the fortress, at least), Gwyndolin must have sealed it away to keep the city safe, or something. Or - the wall itself is an illusion kept by him. Would be nice if the passage through it appeared once you killed Gwyndolin.

that just how dark souls LOD work, its level based which means the certain amount of detail showed up when you are in the same level of the object details. for example at the shortcut in the hellkite bridge to the undead burg first bonfire try jumping to get down instead of ladder you'll see that objects like barrels only showed up when you 're down there. I think they missed a huge opportunity here, they could have had this same river run under the valley of the drakes. Then, have it connect to the giant pool of water in the Darkroot Garden. I think it would have been a cool detail, to make it seem like the natural parts of the world also connect to other areas. Also, it seems a tiny bit weird, how the river, gets turned into what is just a creek. I wonder if they wanted any other bodies of water to link to the river, to make it seem more natural. Since most of it is out of bounds, I wonder if they had an another use for it, and just put it down there, as a small detail. Also, that ending shot with the Butterfly flying to up in direction of the Moon was beautiful!

Funny, since I once wanted to be a game designer, I feel like I know what the purpose of the river is: early in the process of the game, a lot of mapping was done in world to see if they like to take things in this direction. This area might have been an in game level if the developers decided to go with it. And they left it in during the development as an afterthought, seeing as if they might return to the idea. At the ends of development, obviously, they didn't, but they left it in the finished product, presumably, because it is one of many, and they got too lazy to take it out. That, or they feared taking it out might cause some complex bug in the game they'd have a hard time undoing; like trying to undo a single line in a intricate spider's web, and it was best to just leave it as it is. Hehe. That's my best guess.

Very curious, I wonder what the original intent was for the river? Also dude, I know you're playing the devbuild version of the game, but are you running with any enhanced textures or anything? As your version of the game seems beautiful in comparison to mine.

In all likeness it's the source of the Darkroot Basin, or at least a tributary, since it passes right under the Undead Parish in that direction. It's nice that From tried to be geographically consistent.

No I don't have any mods other than high res UI, I just raised the internal resolution with DSFIX to 2500x1500. Without DSFIX, Dark Souls is locked at 720p.

***** Ah so it's been upscaled somewhat, that would explain it. I'll have to give it a whirl on my next install. Thanks a lot dude, keep up the good work!

the river actually does continue onto the undead burg and under firelink! theres another KZread video somewhere where someone ends up finding out that THAT river flows literally thru the entire game. its end is the small waterfall in the catacombs
