I tried it as a kid and couldn't get anywhere. I tried it again recently on switch, still couldn't get anywhere lmao. Aiming on N64 is insanely hard after 20 years of getting used to 2 sticks on a controller. I have a USB N64 controller for the switch and it definitely helps, but there's a part where there's some turrets on the ceiling and I literally could not get past it lmfao, I lost ALL skill with N64 aiming. And yeah, I tried before I had the N64 controller and it was just impossible. Like, the right stick is the c buttons, I'm not even sure what x y zr and zl do, it's just impossible lmao, the N64 controller is too unique

I remember when I randomly got this game for Christmas when I was a kid, they even got the strategy guide to go with it and I absolutely loved it

That would explain Vela's underwater breathing quite a bit there. Wow! Great analysis there. Man, I need more of these kind of videos for Jet Force Gemini. It's my favorite game of all time! I wish they did more with it. Did you know there is a small theory that this game is a "spiritual successor" to JetPac, one of RARE's oldest games? I wonder how you could connect the two there? Haha.

This was one of a few Rare games I never had as a kid. I have played it on the switch online which is great. Hopefully more rare games will come to the service at some point. Anyway, very nice explanation on the three characters. That’s very interesting about Vela being able to breathe in water and her being part fish. The whole thing is very interesting and I don’t think you are over thinking it. xD

Just wanted to point out that Vela is most likely named after the constellation of the same name, which itself was named after ship sails in latin. Her name is consistent with her brother's, while also explaining why the devs had her specialize in water.

YES! More Jet Force Gemini vids 🙏🙌. Man I was so hyped for this game as a kid but actually never got to play it until later in life during my 20s, and it quickly became one of my fave N64 games. What a masterpiece!

@@jiggylookback personally I love 100%ing a good game so that doesn’t bother me so much, I’d probably 100% it whether it was required or not lol. But I get why it would bother people. What bothers me is you really wanna get all the ammo upgrades for Juno or you can make the final battle a real pain in the ass. Happened to me on my first playthrough and just decided to restart the game Kuz I kept running out of ammo. But I know now so I get all the ammo upgrades for him when I do a run.

@@jiggylookback I did do the time trail of the race to unlock the Diddy Kong Racing map. Screw that. Holy Christ that time trail was so tight, pretty much required boost RNG luck 😹😹 think it took me like 2-3 hours, but I was on a mission to fully 100% every Rare game back then (still haven’t done em all, gotta get back to it). Done it once in my life, never again 😹😹💀💀

I thought that too and originally had it in the script, but on looking it up I found otherwise.

man out of all the Rare-made games this one is what I think is the most underrated its their only attempt at a Anime-Styled 3rd person shooter iirc not to mention the ant gore although Juno and Vela's appearance implied age for doing what they do is rather...questionable? Like all the adult squadron members got wiped out somehow so its up to the kids to bring it back to normalcy (Think like a typical Gundam Plotline)

I played his first on an emulator. Game worked fine until one area that I had to turn wireframe mode on and play like that because the graphics weren't viewable otherwise lol
