Actually, placental reproduction is the thing that is more different, as it evolved last, but in the long history of Life, reproduction of fully developed young and lack of parental involvement that is typically seen in reptiles, fish, arthropods and amphibians is and continues to be a mainstay of reproductive methods. Birds (though not placental) and mammalians evolved much later than other Classes within Kingdom Animalia. From an evolutionary standpoint, it is more apt to observe that parents staying behind to spend more time, energy and resources in raising their young is, for lack of a more proper word, "crazy" than parents who produce young capable of sustaining themselves once they emerge from the egg.

Just to clarify, they generally don’t reach 30 feet. I believe the longest one recorded was around 27-29 feet in length, and that’s not even all that common. Typically, they are usually between 17-20 feet at most on average, but do continue growing throughout their lifetime. The females are also the ones to get that big, with the males usually topping out at around 9-15 feet, depending on their lifespan.

Constrictors don't cut off blood supply. They cut off oxygen supply. As prey breathes, while coiled up by a snake, the snake constricts more as the prey exhales and contracts its lungs...limiting its ability to expand its lungs to breathe again.
