Some people view the American Express® Gold Card as somewhat of a luxury card because of a high $250 annual fee, but this is a powerful card that, when used right, can actually make you a lot of money, even when accounting for the annual fee. I'll admit that this card is not one that should be in everybody's wallet. That being said, there are alot of people who could be making money off of this card, but are not yet. This video will help you find out if you are one of those who fit this category.
This video will cover all sides of the American Express® Gold Card. I'll talk about earning and spending points and how to spend on this card to maximize rewards. There are also 9 redemption categories to spend the points you earn. I'll show you which ones you should be using to get good value and which ones are traps that you're losing money on.

How long do your points last? For example if I did sign on bonus and hold, do I lose after a year or keep it?

I have Wells Fargo Cash activity And Wells Fargo autograph , Capital One Quicksilver, blue cash pefrred total credit 38k Do you recommend taking it, keeping it, and using it for everything except travel? Thank you

Autograph covers most areas and has a great 3x multiplier. A 3x multiplier vs a 4x multiplier is minimal.
Do you think the monthly credits are annoying to use? How have you redeemed your points recently?

Having to spend in such a specific way is annoying regardless of the category. But to bring that $250 annual fee down, if you care about that cost, you have to be willing to play the game with this monthly food credit offer. For me, I live in a big city and can see Shake Shack and Cheesecake Factory from my condo. I still set a reminder on my calendar since I tend to eat more healthy than these two places. They are by no means a first choice for me. Also, these spots are a great excuse to meet up with friends or family near my place so I can swipe and split the bill later. I am fortunate that this card’s food credit plays right into my lifestyle with both spots being 300 feet away from home. Food is expensive. Food prices are still rising, faster than inflation now. Finding the right card for your grocery and dining situation is necessary and for me this card works even with the small, apparent hurdles to optimize it.

A few thoughts. 1. The credits have to fit into your normal lifestyle to get true benefit from them. If you're rearranging your life to use the Amex Gold credits, its probably not worth it and you can find better value in another card. 2. The credits a BIT misleading. It's more expensive to order off of Uber Eats for food than just go to the restaurant. You're still going to get value from them, but maybe a little less than it appears on the surface. I would say that if you use at least $120 worth of the credits without changing anything, then it brings a card with very good rewards rates down to a pretty reasonable effective annual fee.
What do you think of the authorized user fee ?

Thankfully, with the AmEx Gold you can add up to 5 authorized users without any fees!
