Ram and GM chose to use what I believe are takeoffs from their heavy duty trucks knowing they’d be pushing for higher limits. I am going to say it right now. Price is going to be $WayTooExpensive . The stated range is nice but when this truck tops out at $130,000 (My estimate for the Tungsten trim) and you still can't do "Truck" stuff with it without sacrificing significant range then sales just aren't going to be great. The Big Three would do MUCH Better with a Serious Hybrid with about a 30-40kwh Battery and one or two electric Motors that have 125hp and 150lb/ft of torque. One mated to a 3.6L straight 6 Turbo engine. The other for the rear axle. Using the electric motors to get the vehicle up to speed from a stop and for extra power when needed. High range, no charging anxiety, plenty of power to do "truck stuff" and all electric range for driving in the city.

Man, I'm worried about the future with the weight of these things. Seems like the hummer ev, this, and others are going to be nearly 9k-10k lbs with the large batteries. Many roads, bridges, and infrastructure are not designed for constant vehicles of that size as these become more popular. I could see car safety needing to be upgraded too to account for impacts with 10,000 lb vehicles being a more common occurrence. It's going to be interesting to see the wave of heavy vehicles coming soon and the impacts on our roads and infrastructure.

I wonder if we will see crumple zones start to disappear and more reliance on seat belts and airbags because at a certain point your crumple zones don't do enough to slow the impact and you have to protect the cab. Of course we might see vehicles get bigger to expand those zones but that brings with it all the other issues like weight, maneuverability, aerodynamics, etc... I think that on the infrastructure side we have been falling behind on upgrading weight limits anyway so this might be the thing that finally gets the government moving on it.

This truck looks phenomenal! Ram really put in the work on this! One thing tho, on a battery that size, they are advertising 110 miles in 10 minutes under ideal charging conditions at a DC fast charger, just dont try to sit there and top the car off. It'll take well over an hour as the charge speeds will slow down over 80%. Now granted, most (who know about EVs) will just charge to get the range they need and leave, but i know plenty new to the EV life will complain about it. Also, i have to wonder, on a level 2 charger you might have in your home, how long it will take to charge up...i am guessing around 10-16 hrs for full charge. Again, Ram might want to educate consumers to charge to what you need to get around and not so much having it at 100% (or near it) in the morning.

People have to charge these things in homes, charge stations, dealerships, etc. multiple charging ports would make things incredibly more convenient and user friendly. On gas vehicles this isn’t really an option due to design, tank location, etc but on an EV you could feasibly put as many charging ports as you want in pretty much any location.

Looks like it has potential! I certainly don't want a "luxury truck", but give me a bigger bed and I'm sold. So now my choices are the RAM and the Ford. GM sadly has forgotten that "tradition truck design" exists for a reason --- work, hauling, utility, keep the load outside where it belongs. First impression is that I like this truck, it's encouraging!

I don't understand this no compromise attitude from ICE owners. You have to regularly take your truck to a gas station and stand in someones chew spit, pay $80 to the oil industry, change oil, and filters, service the engine and transmission, replace parts like alternators and sensors, all so you can go 300 miles without stopping. An EV you charge at home for a couple of dollars, with American made electricity providing local jobs, no maintenance, no check engine light, just get in and go. My big block powered 1 ton gets 10 mpg and has an 18 gallon tank, that's 150 miles, so I have to stop every so often on long trips, it's no big deal. What about the fact that you can't buy an electric pickup with less than 500 hp, and you can go out right now and buy a truck with over 1000 hp, and just wait for the Cybertruck, that thing is gonna be nuts. But you like that all aluminum turbocharged computer controlled piece of junk that keeps you tied to your dealer with no choice and sucking the teat of the oil barons, paying whatever they say? I honestly don't understand. I don't own an Oxygen sensor and I never will.

It's no Revolution concept, but I still think it is by far the best looking and best featured EV pickup on the market. Rivian and Hummer are cool, but they are lifestyle trucks. This is something closer to what I think a general contractor would use. I would love to have one, but the price will probably be more than what you can get a small townhome for.

Gas powered cars don't get 1000 miles per fill-up, so are they not worth spit as you say. 500 miles of range is significant and fast charging is also. The problem, Mike, is the price of these EV's are unobtainable for an enormous amount of the population.

But I feel like if they all made one great system that could communicate between each other, I feel that autonomy would come along so much faster.

They actually do want to do that. Toyota/Nissan and Ford/VW/GM were in discussions to do just that but they always fall through. Developing these systems is a huge drain on their financial resources and is making modern vehicles prohibitively expensive for many buyers. Sharing the costs is a win win for everyone, but the issue of who shares the liability if a system fails has been a major sticking point.

Glad they are making it look like a real truck. They could eliminate some of the fluff to keep the price in line with the average truck owner's budget. I do not need fancy interiors or lots of chrome, just good solid construction and dependability.
