Gus. Your playing on the Scream album lit a fire under his ass. "I Want It More" is honestly one of my favorite Ozzy songs outside of the Randy and Jake stuff. I've never really liked Zakk that much but he had his moments. Randy is my idol and I DEFINITELY feel you have some "Randy" in your playing. And that is a serious compliment my friend. I love your solo instrumental stuff as well but you should know I FINALLY replaced your KICKASS intro riff to "I Want It More" with the "afterbirth" solo by Randy on "Mr. Crowley " as my wake up alarm and ring tone! And imho THAT solo is the greatest lead break in metal history . I love your work with Ozzy and lament the fact you only got to play on "Scream." And in closing PLEASE keep doing solo instrumental albums!

First, I wanted to say I first discovered you from your first Firewind album back in the day because I was a huge Leviathan Records fan and when that album came out it blew my mind. For me it was like discovering Yngwie for the first time. I have showed so many of my friends, family and co-workers you music. I also purchased all of your work with Dream Evil and Mystic Prophecy because you became my favorite guitarist and still are to this day. Thanks for doing this video I didn’t realize how important it was to your career. Dog gin’ Me Down was like a mix of Diary of a Mad Man and Killer of Giants. I really wanted so badly for you to get another full length album and be able to contribute to the songwriting because you mixed elements of Jake and Randy with your own touch so well I knew that the next record could have been epic. It unfortunately never happened but at least you got to have that amazing experience.

I saw you guys in Stockholm on the scream tour and it was a phenomenal gig. I’ve never seen the band that ‘alive’ and Ozzy was in such a great shape, it’s still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The OZ-TV episodes on KZread showed that the band(you, Adam, Tommy and old man Blasko) had great chemistry! Being a huge Zakk Wylde fan, I was a bit surprised and bummed when they announced that him and Ozzy are going separate ways. It was after the Black Rain album(which to be honest, wasn’t Ozzys finest work) and somewhere around the time when Zakk had the bloodclot thing going on. The hesitation I had against the ‘new guy’ was completely unnecessary as I heard the album. Blown away. Phenomenal work and still to this day ‘spins’ on my smartphone at least once a month. Thank you Gus!

Thank You Gus for this video: I remember the impatience to listen and discover new stuff at that time by Ozzy....your style gives at the album something 'timeless', a sort of new 21st century 'Diary of a Madman'.....the magic Evening in Padova was a new start beat in my life....thank You so much for your music 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Gus! I was listening to Ozzy and Zakk Wylde in that time and both Ozzy's and Black Label Society albums sounded pretty much the same, but when you started playing with Ozzy, that album is different. I like to hear something new and different in every album of an artist and I think that you are as great as any of Ozzy's guitarists (Iommi, Randy, Jake E Lee or Zakk) Back in 2012, I came to see Ozzy and Friends concert in Belgrade, Serbia, and that was a festival with amazing bands (like Black Label Society and the Cult) and in one moment there were Zakk, Slash, Geezer and you on stage playing Sabbath songs with Ozzy and you were amazing. Slash and Zakk are icons but you were on the next level player much better than both of them and it was clear why you were Ozzy's new guitar player. He could chose anyone and he found the best guitar player for the new Ozzy sound, new guitar legend. 👍

Thanks for sharing this with us! I had only heard a few Firewind tracks before the album with Ozzy happened. I absolutely loved Scream album front to back. It was different, exciting and new. Highlights for me are “I Want It More”, “Diggin’ Me Down”, “Latimer’s Mercy”, and “Hand of the Enemy”. I was lucky enough to see the Scream tour on Ozzy’s birthday in 2010, I think it was in New Jersey. It’s one of my favorite tour memories because you and the guys got Ozz to change his set list up a bit! Some obscure tracks, especially Jake era, were added to the set. It was phenomenal. I’ve been a fan of yours ever since.

Hi Gus! I actually had started listening to your music long before you joined Ozzy. I was amazed at how melodic, but very technical, you play. I loved the Scream album. In fact, many nights, my kids and I sat around the dinner table listening to it. So, you may have way more fans than you could possibly imagine. You've become my new favorite guitarist. By the way, the "Fierce" video is brilliant! I've watched it 1000 times.

Thanks for these insights, Gus ! I loved the bit about the talk box and 'Soul Sucker'! I wish I had seen one of your early shows with Ozzy, where you did a solo part with a talk box, too. I really enjoyed seeing these vids online! \m/ I saw a few of the German Ozzy dates 2011-2012 in person, and my most favourite show by far was your performace @ the Wacken 2011. You all were even more on fire than usual and it was one of the gigs you never forget! I still wish there were a proper live DVD of Ozzy with you on guitars. You shred so hard. Songs like 'Bark at the Moon' were the best when you played them... As for since when had I heard of you... I saw you shredding in Hamburg in Nightrage with Necrophagist, Malevolent Creation and Bolt Thrower 2006 and followed you since. You need to play more Death Metal, again ;). Cheers

Gus, I went to my first BlizzCon in 2009 not knowing when we bought the tickets that Ozzy was going to be the band for the event. When I found out I was so happy and was happy to see your first show with him. I believe Jake E Lee first show was the US Festival in 1983 and I seen that show as well. I was still in high school back then and still cannot believe my mother let me go to that with 4 other friends in a Datsun B-210 coupe. After that show where Van Halen headlined we got stuck in the line of cars to leave and did not leave that place until the sun came up. Oh, when we were going into the venue we were part of the hugest food fight I have ever been involved in! Good Times!!!

I saw you in Denmark on the tour and knew about Firewind yet learned about Nightrage, Dream Evil, and Mystic Prophecy as well as the stuff with Arch Enemy. I have your signature guitars. Both the Jackson random star as well as the purple painting/shattered glass ESP/LTD. Sadly one one is signed. You need to sign the old one next time you're in Denmark :) I spoke with Bob when you were here with FW but missed you on the floor.

Hey Gus thanks for sharing. I first heard about you through Ozzy. I was only playing flamenco guitar during that time and had seen Ozzy with Jake at the Texas Jam in 84, so I wasn't really into metal as much when you joined Ozzy. The only reason I went to the show (Tacoma Dome 2011) was to see you play live and my wife had never been to a metal concert before. Seeing you play live was a turning point for me as a guitarist and an artist. Great show and I'll forever cite you as one of my greatest influences. I hope all the best for you with your continued music career and as an artist at the highest level. Peace my friend!!!

Yeah man I did discover you through the Scream album and I have to be honest, at first I WAS PISSED that it wasn't Zakk Wylde playing on the album because I'm a HUGE Ozzy guy even back to Sabbath and to me there has never been better than Tony, Randy, Jake and Zakk they are the reason I play guitar and love to play and write music.........then I had to remind myself that Ozzy has always been associated with the best and it remained to be true. I got the album and was blown away, it's some of heaviest shit Ozzy has ever put out and your work on it is AWESOME. NOW I am a GIANT fan of yours and I couldn't imagine you not being a part of the list of greats he has worked with so thanks for not letting me down -- you are absolutely killer dude !! To answer your question: I found out about you through work. Back in 2007, I worked at Sam Ash in Orlando, FL. We used to play this ESP Guitars promo dvd we had that showed artist interviews and music videos and stuff. On that dvd was Firewind's video for "Falling to Pieces". I loved the guitar you had in that video and later saw your signature model in our ESP catalog - the black cherry guitar with a Floyd Rose, which was right up my alley for what I wanted in a guitar. I searched for Firewind after work and got hooked from there. I also bought that guitar some time later (which you signed at opening night for the Frets of Fury tour 2011). 2009, I saw an article from some guitar or metal music publication (can't remember which one) about how you were going to play Blizzcon with Ozzy. I don't know why I did this, but I completely fanboyed all over that article. "Fuck yeeeesssss!!!", I screamed. "Homeboy's gonna get that job full time! He just doesn't know it yet." I was beyond proud of you, man. I later watched that full show on KZread when it was available and boy, you nailed it. I was a little bummed that you didn't have your own signature guitars for the show, but I figured you couldn't get them halfway around the world in time and used some loaners from ESP instead. I later got to see you play with Ozzy in February 2011. You owned it! It was my first time to see both you and Ozzy live. That was a glorious night! When I briefly played in a local Ozzy tribute band, I dressed up as you and used that same Gus600FR you signed as well as my Gus600EC. Congrats on 12 years of Scream and being able to be a legit career musician! You rule, man.

This album was my introduction to you, and of course I most definitely saw the tour. I am a lifelong Randy Rhoads fanatic so seeing anyone who plays with Ozzy live is a must do. You got a new fan that night. I was really blown away by your guitar playing, it wasn't just because you flawlessly played the songs, it was also because you could feel you playing those notes with your technique, your style.... and it felt great to hear that. Fast forward a few years and my friend Missy Watson Patterson here in Omaha NE comes out to see my band and gives me a CD of Firewind, and your solo album and tells me I "need to hear this guy, he will blow your mind". Lots of love from Omaha Gus!!!

I found out about you in 2006 I remembered having only 2 firewind albums and playing them on repeat. I used the song kill to live as my ringtone and it gave me a heart attack every time but I loved it

Gus, I first heard you in 2002 on the song 'Warrior' off the Firewind debut and was blown away! At the time there weren't many younger guitar players that were following in the footsteps of the 80s greats but you did and you were killing it! I saw you with Ozzy once and I thought you were fantastic - a much needed breath of fresh air after years of Zakk. I wish the Osbournes would've kept you around - that last album really lacked great lead guitar playing. Wishing you all the best.

Hey Gus, I learned about you by searching for Greek power metal music. It's been fun to learn that you once played with Ozzy's band. I've been on a journey of blending my American rock/metal and Greek folk music heritages and thankfully discovered the Greek power metal music scene with bands like yours, Firewind. Greek festivals in America seem to focus on a nostalgic version of Greek heritage. Maybe one day you will play at some of the Greek festivals in America.🤘on!

I actually followed you in Firewind before you were with Ozzy. You were one of the guitarist I greatly looked up to that inspired me to play guitar. I remember hearing you were joining Ozzy and being really excited for you, as I felt you were greatly under appreciated. Now, years later, it’s mind-blowing to be to be with your pickup company. Crazy how things work out. And then I find myself in a similar situation to yours with Ozzy (although not on the same scale), where I join a band and have to figure out what they want and just do my best. You’re a real inspiration, man. 🤘🏻

My first time seeing Ozzy with you was right after Scream came out, and I loved the show! Some great songs and killer solos on the album, too! It was great to see you play with Angel Vivaldi in that barn in Maryland (LOL) and then finally I got a chance to see Firewind with Dragonforce a couple months ago. It was awesome to finally meet you - you are a humble, real down to earth good dude! It's great to see the progress you and your band have made. And I respect how you put 100% effort and energy every time, even in a barn! It means a lot to me because it would be easy to phone it in.

This was a truly beautiful video, Gus. Loved your comment about this album. I really liked the album; I still pretty much do, soul sucker is probably my favorite song in there, great riff, really heavy. But there are many great songs, let it die, LMHYS, life wont wait, crucify. THe only sad thing about it is the album didn't had much live-play, it deserves it. Can you talk about your time in Nightrage? I really like that band, one of my melo-death favorite bands ever, Descent into Chaos is a 10/10 masterpiece.

Hi Gus! I first discovered you on a century media covers album in 2008 with Firewind covering Nevermore's believe in nothing. With my brother being a Nevermore fan, I thought it was pretty cool you covered them! I then went on KZread and one of the first Firewind music videos I watched were mercenary man and I am the anger! At that moment, I had to get your discography! At that time I also discovered your other bands Dream Evil, Nightrage & Mystic Prophecy. Which I also have those discs and am a fan of those groups as well. I have a lot of autographed memorabilia from You and Firewind! A personal signed thank you poster from Bob's Katsionis rest in keys album to ending up unknowingly ordering a Firewind: insanity tshirt on ebay from none other than Mark Cross:) I even tried to win the Jackson guitar giveaway you did around Christmas 2020, but was off from getting picked by only a few seconds. I was also really excited to get my hands on a limited splatter vinyl copy of the self titled Firewind album a couple of years ago. Sorry for the long message but such a fan & once you said how we discovered you, I had to comment!

I did discover you and through that the mighty Firewind through your work with Ozzy and while the album was good and everything, it was when I saw you play live at Ozzfest in London 2010 shredding the classics and Let Me Hear You Scream that really sold you for me. It was an unforgettable experience and one of my favourite concerts I've ever attended. Also met my boyfriend at this concert for the first time and we are still together now 12 years later

You already were my favorite guitar player at that time. As everyone was "mourning" the exit of Zakk, I was thrilled that my favorite was working with Ozzy. I attended to the show in my country (Brazil), where you played "O Brasileirinho" on the guitar and was very, very happy to see you there. On 2018, you came back with Firewind and I was there, front row at "Manifesto Bar", the venue, banging my head with you and "drumming" on your feet throughout the show. I was kinda worried that it might break your focus, but I hoped it wouldn't. A few songs before the end, you stroke a riff on the guitar, literally hugged me with your right (pick) arm for a couple of seconds, and went back to the song. I was AMAZED by that. I keep this memory dearly and will do that for the rest of my life. I'm sure you won't remember "me", but in case you remember this scene, I'm the guy you hugged while playing in Brazil, at Manifesto Bar, in 2018! \m/

Ozzy with Rhoads is what made me start listening to more metal but since I’m just 20 now I’m young so I remember watching KZread videos of the tour with Ozzy and you were the guitar player , and the way you played just astonished me, it was so clean, and understandable I wanted to play like that and here I am :) I still can not play like you but learning and I loved the album you made with Ozzy it was obscure but fats and cool
