I'm late again but no matter. There's so much false information in books and in the media in general, so it was really good to hear the real history of Haiti for once. I just wonder why this kind of information isn't publicised more. Thank you. 🙏🏿

This video helped me with a lot of my family’s history my dad side came to America (South Carolina) after the Haitian Revolution and were sharecroppers and they were never enslave in South Carolina. But my grandma told me stories on what her grandpa saw in the Revolution. They also never told the landowners where they were from because it was dangerous at that time and they could be killed for it.

I'm glad the Blacks of Saint Domingue were so accepting of Native Americans, such as helping them hide in the mountains and letting Native Americans fight alongside Haiti in their quest for freedom.

The Native Americans in Haiti were the remnants of the Taíno people of Hispaniola as well as Native Americans from the USA. These American born Indigenous peoples were Choctaws, Chickasaw, Natchez, and Houmas. You see the French European colonists in Haiti were also in the North America. The French colonists in North America, purchased Native American captives who fought against them and brought them to Saint Domingue, Hispaniola, French West Indies.

14:40 There is a Jean Baptiste Point du Sable statue in downtown Chicago by the Chicago River. There is Du Sable Bridge that crosses that river, a street named after him and there's also a Haitian American Museum in Chicago. Besides that, I don't hear his name taught in school or mentioned in public- you have to research him and his accomplishments. You're right, very little is said of Du Sable in Chicago. You hear a lot about Al Capone and prohibition gangsters but not about the Chicago founder himself.

There's also, Dream Variants- French Antilleans in Haiti: 1848-1934, it discusses how other French West Indians, specifically Guadeloupeans and Martinicians were emigrating to Haiti due to inspiration and France re enslaving them.

It's crazy how freedom is being celebrated through out the White countries, but the Black Nation is being punished for doing the impossible. How dare you???? Haiti has done so much for this World, but condemned for life for doing so.

Colourism might be one of the reasons the DR don’t want anything to do with Haiti

The reason why some people from the Dominican Republic have issues with Haiti is due to Haiti occupying the DR (1822-1844). During this time the Haitians provided protection for Hispaniola against European colonization. Unfortunately, because Jean-Pierre Boyer agreed to pay France back for Haitian independence, everyone on Hispaniola were heavily taxed thus causing the Dominicans to revolt against the Haitians. Also, there were Haitian soldiers who robbed, murdered, assaulted, and pillage Dominican people during the 22 year occupation.

@@abrahamisaacmuciusiii9192 That's not enough of a reason for the hatred. Until the current generation, Dominicans have wanted to distance themselves from Blackness. Haiti is just the closest Black neighbor to them. Trujillo is a big part of it. But internalized white supremacy is the root.

Shoutout to Haiti❤many of the people who were stolen away from Haiti were placed in Baltimore and Philadelphia. Many west to Louisiana but they were split and because they were so strong willed they refused to live by the whip. In the East or northeast of the USA is very dangerous and we’re extremely angry and we will fight whoever. Many slaves were treated horribly because of what was done in Haiti. Me personally, I’m proud of our illustrious ancestors and Their strength, in grateful for their sacrifices and their many traditions bestowed on us by them. Many of us awaken to the beautiful gifts that they gifted to us by bloodline. It’s not a bad thing at all unless you ignore the fact that you are different and you have a different walk. I don’t like it that these people actually enslaved us and dropped us in the oceans and killed our ancestors because they refused to bow down. I’m the type of person that is waiting for the day when we unite and fight against this disease of white supremacy and racism that oppresses us every day. In America it’s horrible because we live the experience every day. We fought for the country several generations of my family fought and shed blood for a country that welcomed them home to Jim Crow. I’m the 5th generation of the Judd family the slave master and plantation owner. My grandmother had 11 children for him. The first person to be murdered by the kkk. Henderson her master/ concubine or whatever testified against the men at the Supreme Court in nc he was castrated and murdered right after. That’s how I’m here. I’m proud to come from strong people. I imagined when I visited the land what my grandmother went through and how she felt about life, how she felt about passing her gifts onto those who know nothing about it. How she felt loving a white man ? If she loved him? So much. To all of my brothers and sisters of carbonated descent I send you love and healing❤ to our dear ancestors I pray they rest in perfect peace❤🙏🏽⚡️🔥💕 much love forever ♾️
