I see a lot of people talking about the Taako voice being racist, and I'm... pretty sure Griffin was goofing there? Like, he was joking even about people complaining, I think, and then walked it up to it being racist. There's a bit in one of the Monster Factory episodes where Justin says "This looks racist for a race that doesn't exist", and I think this was a similar goof.

I had forgotten about how my party went through this entire encounter. After fumbling through horribly, they stumbled across Klarg. Naturally, he responded much like Shrek in the beginning of Shrek, and after questioning their motives, he attacked. Initiative is rolled. First party member goes. Second party member goes. Third party member rolls to incite a workers’ revolution and convert a small tribe of goblins to communism. It works. I question all of my decisions leading up to that moment. Fourth party member goes, followed by the fifth. When it wraps back around to the first, he drops Klarg. Let me be clear. He does not kill Klarg; he just knocks him prone. Well, now the goblins that were originally supposed to attack the party gang up on Klarg and kick him while he’s down, killing him horribly. The party then proceeded to essentially take over the small hideout as the goblins paraded them through as their saviors.

It's a really complicated issue... Because of the nature of the show is that everyone's interpretation of the characters is canon, and because of Taako's name, some say he's Latinex. The Adventure Zone graphic novel that's coming out next year portrayed every character as a white dude, and the McElroys believed that was a problem, and they were right, it was. They went back to the drawing board and made Taako a pale shade of blue. Some criticised this move, saying that the boys failed to take into account their Latinex listeners, and could have done something really cool for Latinex representation. There's also the smaller but still pressing issue that green skin (Which his colouring is real close to in the Graphic Novel) could have anti-semitic connotations. Justin never intended race to come into it as a thing, for a number of reasons. First being that this was never intended to be a show, it was supposed to be a filler episode of MBMBaM while Justin was off on paternity leave, so they didn't think it would affect so many people. Another is that it was a spur of the moment goof, and that Justin named the character Taako, because it sounded like the word "Taco" and that was all the thought he put into it. He's apologised countless times for it, however, as it could come across as insensitive. So they're caught between a rock and a hard place. Do they make Taako Latinex and show this character named after a Texmex food that tries to steal shit all the time (Which is bad representation), or do they not do that, and try to find some kind of middle ground, but ultimately not represent either? The voice, I don't think, has ever been the issue :P

DigiFox0 I don't follow at all why people care so much about this stuff. Sure, representation of different traits, nationalities, etc. is fine, but why are people so obsessed with these things? Why make everything possible a hate message? I'm half Jewish, and I neither had any idea about the green skin thing nor care. It just freaking sucks the joy out of everything to go searching for ways to be offended.

Josiah Klein I get where you're coming from, but at the same time we have no right to tell other people how to feel about this kind of topic. Like I'm part of LGBT+ and if I'm honest I could care less about representation of it. It'd be cool to have more of it but I'm not gonna boycott a show if it doesn't have it. But some people do really care about it and it's not our place to tell them they're wrong cause it is a valid point

I played this adventure with my friends, and my sister seduced both Yeemik and Klarg who proceeded to fight over her. Yeemik with killed by Klarg who then proposed to my sister and gave the adventureres a free tour of the cave and all of their valuable loot. My sister rolled a 24 on a charisma check.

Honestly every default D&D campaign has been so boring and uninspired and it's probably because the DMs who use them aren't creative enough to make original campaigns so they can't even illustrate premade ones. My circle and groups all play (pretty much entirely my homebrew campaigns) besides the nerd who is an asshole and maxes a character for combat and does no exploration or interact with anything. When he DMs he uses premade campaigns and tells you "No." If you go outside the story. Pretty sure the absolute worst thing you can do is say "No." When a character wants to pilfer the mayor's office because he seems suspiciously like the mastermind behind kidnappings and he turns out to be at the end but successfully pilfering would have revealed that hours earlier.

I'm a new DnD player, and the amount of sass these NPCs can give is just delicious.

I have been looking for a funny podcast that can paint a good picture of a story in my head and I was not expecting it to be some nerds playing d and d with there dad lol. But fuck I'm really enjoying it. so happy I get to watch 53 episodes in a row. Thanks for making my day guys

hehehe i remember doing this, except my companion and I made it up the chimney and started a sneak attack on Boss Guy, I used Thunderwave, which turned the minions into jam on the wall, and pushed Boss Guy and the wolf into the fire. The wolf rolled a nat 1 and cooked itself alive and with a few shots to the face by my buddy the Boss was dead. Added bonus, Thunderwave scared the ever-living-shit out of the rest of the goblins so they turned tail and booked it out of there. So we had free run of the cave :) it was pretty great

I love how they were planning to kill a really bad dude and find out at the end he's just a dude who wants to serve tea

Alex Conway As soon as I heard about the cart last episode I was like “Hey this is the beginners game thing”

When my party members and I met Clarg we had tamed the wolves chained up in that one room, climbed up and right into his throne room. We managed to convince him that we were delivering darts to a Goblin in his castle and got lost ((my character has +5 Deception)). He almost got mad at us because one of our party members is a half orc but I managed to convince him the half orc was just dropped as a baby and LOOKED like an orc. And he believed us. Then we managed to convince him to give us a tour of the castle. After we found Yemick we kinda just went back to Clarg's room and killed him then lied to Yemick about how much loot we found and got out scot free.

"So who the fuck is going, and who's doing it?" is a phrase I relate with Griffin on as a fellow GM.

This was the first adventure I ever played, and it's hilarious to see how different they did it. Charming Klarg was kinda genius and Griffin's portrayal of a charmed bugbear was awesome. It's my first time watching this series and now I can tell I'm in for a hell of a ride 😂

I wanted to make a joke about lgbtq+ but it was the different races instead, but I relized I have zero clue any of the names for the different races, and I’m too uncomfortable to look it up because google might pull up slurs. Someone smarter then me please make this joke for me.
