i love the fact this is lups first actual spoken line and it instantly made the fandom fall in love with her like she is such an amazing character with so much personality god i would die for her

bakerstintheTARDIS yeah I think it's amazing how popular she is and how well she fitted into the team. I think a large part of it is the fact that the players are really related so they can really express some real sibling affection.

for real!! the moment justin found out taako has a sister literally he'd just always go with the option that would let him spend as much time and have as much fun as possible with her its the sweetest thing. i just got to the part in stolen century where taako and lup are scrapping and lup finds a gun and taako is just having so much fun with her its the sweetest thing ever

His immediate bond with Lup made his losing her so heartbreaking. It feels like even though they’re twins, she’s taken on a kind of big sister role and takes care of Taako

I can see Griffin coming up with this scene, re-writing Lup's dialog over and over, just to make sure we'll fall in love with her instantly, to capture her personality in one bit... And this, right this, is how he'd seen it in his head. I'm sure.

I didn't notice that and now that you mention it that could actually be a flaw in this video. Barry wasn't really in love with Lup at this point and when he did fall in love with her Taako supported it all the way. Of course maybe Barry fancied her from the beginning and maybe Taako would be defensive of her. But Lup can take care of herself and Taako knows this, so I don't think he would be overly protective of her.

I love how Griffin kind of copied Justin's Taako voice for Lup because they for sure would sound really similar and that's just a small part of how well Griffin made her character

Siblings really are on another level. Griffin knew Justin and Taako so well, he created Lup to be both immediately familiar to the audience, but also completely different from Taako. They are twins, but they are not copies of each other, and you get that sense very quickly. They influence each other, they have some similar mannerisms, they both have big bold personalities, but you would never say they were the same. I think their confrontation with the Judges in the Stolen Century arc really highlights this. The judges accuse Taako of pride and he throws it back at them, weaving and dodging, twisting their words to deflect blame and take no responsibility. They accuse Lup and Lup just owns it. She is authentic and real, she could lie if she wanted to but why would she? For Taako, being honest with himself and others is a fate worse than death. Authenticity breeds vulnerability, vulnerability is the enemy of survival, and Taako has to keep himself and his family alive. And I think Griffin saw this, saw that side of Taako afraid to be true and be bold, and he instinctively knew who Lup was. He knew how she and Taako fit together, he knew Taako loved her more than anything, and he knew how to get Justin on board. Because he is Justin's brother, and he knows those Taako parts of him, and knows what Taako would look up to and admire. Someone who could not only tell the truth, but see through Taako's disguises.

YES I love this. Thank u for writing it all. 🙏 Lup is my fave & I love that she's basically like, the best part of Taako, and when she's _gone --_ when Lucretia erased her from his mind -- you can really tangibly feel that difference. And I love just how keenly this segment where we first meet her puts that into focus.

this is the moment where i think justin was FULLY sold on the twin sister thing because... Yes.

This is definitely my favorite Lup animation. you really portrayed the character well, even through her gestures. i will watch this probably 20 more times in a row

lup's hand motions and body language in this have ruined me for every other animation of this scene
