The joke at 1.13 is hilarious. I only regret it is too complicated to remember!

You are the tops! I know I'll end up listening to each one again and again, as I did with my old Holmes collection. Thanks for all your trouble. You made Thanksgiving bearable...

Love these clever stories and even the strange monotone of the delivery. NB the British navy rank is pronounced ‘leftenant’ not ‘lootenant’ - that’s American and they ‘stand at ease’ not ‘stand easy’ I believe?

The story was excellent, well plotted and written and very well narrated. The only thing that I dislike about it was how everyone, including Dr. Watson, thought it was so funny that Holmes was taken in by a scheming woman. I think the title was not only talking about the dogs. Holmes was very humiliated by being used by Violet, and even Dr. Watson showed him no understanding. It is ironic that Watson himself had expressed the desire that Holmes might find a woman he could love earlier in the story. Well, that is hardly likely to happen after he was used by the bitch who took advantage of him, depended on his protection, and even in the end, depended on him to save her life. For which service she offered him no reward, not even an honest apology. Her lack of shame at having hurt Holmes rather determines her character I think. Take note that when Holmes will no longer have anything to do with her, she turns around and marries a suitor who she had previously rejected. Using and taking advantage of other people to get what you want is not an admirable characteristic and does not make for a character that I can sympathize with.

Using Holmes' 7 % solution of cocaine seems to be wrong as a means of lulling a dog into passivity.. launnum would seem a better choice.

Let me assure you, dear listeners, under no circumstances do educated young English women suddenly "emmigrate to Philadelphia". Why, the very notion of such an alarming occurrence is an appalling violation of all that is decent and noble in this fair country of ours.
