Firstly, even if you don't have science in your +2, you can opt for Bsc Psychology and no marks is cut if you pertain to commerce background. Secondly, Psychology is a hardcore science, it involves physics chemistry physiology as well as biology so it's 90% about understanding and 10% about memorising. Third, there's a certain word limit set which you can't exceed, and you've to write as short as possible within that framework and explain the thing. Hope this levels up your knowledge base.

Hi, just wanted to say as a person who's almost nearing graduation (I'm taking 6th sem finals right now, and appearing for MA entrances), at least in my college - Aryabhatta College of DU, there definitely are a lot of assignments, some of which are experiential, some others are more theoretical-based, and some are research related (you might have to present a small literature review and research design, etc.). Depending on the prof, the kind of assignment may vary, but we are bombarded with a lot of work. There is also a lot of paper writing, as in you'll be made to write a lot of reports, most of which are not in a practical report format but in a research format (APA style). You might gain some exposure within the college as we have set up a peer-support program, in which if you apply and clear the interview you will get some training to provide help to the peers of the university. Other than that, internships are not advisable apart from some NGO work or something like that. Masti bhi hoti hai, lekin kaam bhi kafi hai. In the end you'll learn a lot, but DU is also a bit disorganized, and you might get frustrated with the lack of structure. It's a good experience otherwise.

@@nandinisingh2113 In 3 Years, I saw students having difficulties understanding Statistics; To be very honest, Statistics isn't very hard if you know how to apply it & you don't always have to use advance statistical methods because you're not researching at that time. Basic Statistics includes basic mean, median, mode, average, variance, distribution, graph plotting, etc Little Advance Statistical Methods have concepts like ANOVA, Chi-Square, K-R 20, K-R Correlation, Pearson coefficient, etc which mainly are concepts of Statistics & Psychometrics (Psychological Measurements & Testing) which you'll study during your Masters in Psychology

Coz psychology means understanding u should have a deep understanding regarding subject which ba can give u after ur ba u can pursue ur masters masters is same either u come from ba or bsc hope it helps 😊

Hi, good analysis. However, the real reality is that it's a useless course to do in India. It's not a professional course that does not impart any marketable skills that are paid for in the job market. There are zero job opportunities after BA hons psychology, except you can join a call centre/BPO. Another reality is that while pursuing psychology, whenever you'll approach a clinic to do an internship, you will be charged. Yes, you've to pay money to do an internship under most psychologists. Unlike other disciplines, where you're paid some stipend for the internship. Even if go onto do a masters, the job opportunities are very limited and the pay scale in India for psychologists is abysmal. My only suggestion is if you're really passionate about psychology, go abroad for pursuing masters and settle in that country, so you're compensated fairly for all the years of efforts you're putting in.

Hey! Thankyou for such an insight. I am not from the field but the little ik is that after doing B.A. hons courses in any field many students are not able to get jobs in the field and it is because of what these educational institutions are imparting. Secondly, if you are doing internship under any professional you will be charged a certain amount until they are your relatives and even though you agree to pay the many there is no guarantee they will teach you anything, which again true for many fields. Thirdly, not everyone can afford education abroad so, if you want to do it further I believe the best way is to invest on yourself through different online courses and keep on looking for the best available options. @kuldeepkhatri it's not at all like that psychology is a useless subject..i think u have guided by some unexperienced person do you know psychology a subject related to mental health and it's totally a scientific subject There are many subfields in this field like clinical psychologist,neuropsychologist Child psychologist nd many diverse fields nd many reputed institutes like nimhans,aims Delhi there is course about this. Field.. i think u would know about counsellors or educational counsellors they are specialised in psychology only so please don't underestimate this subject as well many clinical psychologist earned in lakhs per month but only thing is in northern India we don't talk about mental health so we think that there is no career opportunities.... Psychology has many subfields in it if u do masters in that obviously u would get a reputed job

BA in any field is not enough for earning a decent amount... Be it Psychology or any other subjects... One needs to have higher education for the same.... In some institutions people earn extremely well as a clinical psychology... If u go into lectureship , it's plenty of many... I know tons of Psychologists who are very happy with their career and are also able to sustain themselves and their family and I'm also persuading Psychology hons.... So what you are saying is not true... Before calling a degree "useless" think 10 times

​@@Aesthetic_leen Mam, I'm a BA hons psychology graduate myself. So, what I am sharing is not a perspective, it's a reality that I've faced and facing till date. I never said BA is sufficient to get good jobs. My point was that psychologists in India are not compensated fairly for the years of hard work they put in. You can check out data on average/median salaries on the internet. I know there're psychologists who charge a lot of money per session in their own clinic. But they're outliers. I am talking about the rule and not the exceptions. All the best though.
