    I believe that next week's episode is what is going to make or break the show. I expect the bigh flashback and the big resolution of the mystery to come in episode 7, with episode 8 being the "cleanup" episode where they have the big fight and cover it all up, but the climax is probably going to be next week. And I hope that the solution was worth the wait and especially that it doesn't come out of nowhere. One of the most important things in a mystery story, in my opinion, is that the mystery should be solvable if you're paying attention, which also adds rewatchability value. So far this show has set up a great mystery and has provided us numerous possible options for the solution. But if none of them is true and they pull out something completely new, then I'll lose interest. We'll see. I have hope, though!

    I think it was really a mutual break-up between Osha and the Jedi. The Jedi wanted her to let go of her attachment and grief, and she didn't want to. Like Anakin and probably other fallen Jedi, it's a path to the dark side if one can't find some type of acceptance of the past.

    I don’t think Sol knew about Mae from the start. He was going back to the Jedi but after he stuns Mae he decides to run from them, probably because he knows the Jedi won’t be very forgiving with Mae. Loving the Acolyte. Some of the best Star Wars since ESB imo. We are finally getting to see Dark Side training in live action! I have a theory that Osha will end up being Plagueis by the end. I love this idea. The show is titled the Acolyte after all. But Even if no one is Plagueis and everyone winds up as just new characters I’m fine with it. I never get mad at Star Wars. Cruel Intentions, Basic Instinct, together with the music this episode was quite Noir, but with a homme fatale instead of a femme fatale. Star Wars Noir! I think the planet is Baldemnic, given that the showrunner has already introduced a number of things from Legends and is a fan of Legends, which suggests to me that she would not make Plagus a human, so my guess is that Plagus is Qimir's Sith master, and that Qimir is the future Ren and posibly is currently known as Darth Ren. It's signalled pretty clearly that Venestra was his Jedi master. I can't imagine how this will end for Mae but I don't see Sol surviving this season. We are still due a space chase ending on Qimir's island planet. I don't see how they can resolve this story in one hour, so I expect the final episode to be longer than thirty minutes.

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    @AbitofEverything4U

    Fantastic commentary! I agree we got some Star Wars noir. That’s a clever way to look at it. And it is fun to see so many things from Legends being pulled in. I think your guess on Darth Ren makes a lot of sense. And I’m totally with you that the last two episodes need to be longer. I would actually be OK with some of the earlier ones having been shorter if it means that we get close to an hour length for episode 8.

    Getting the Sith's perspective on things is always fun because it doesn't happen often. There are still plenty of things to theorize about, but what I really want to focus on is the island and the Unknown Planet. It's already been shot down that the island is on Ahch-To, apparently there was an interview right after the episode was released and Leslye Headland said it wasn't. That could just be a bold-faced lie, or it could be the truth, but there was another theory that I heard, which suggests that Ahch-To and Bel'demnic are just two names for the same place. In Clone Wars, there's a Sith homeworld called Moraband, which was another name for the planet Korriban. George liked the idea of the planet, but he liked the sounding of his name, so it was used, but they were the same thing. The Sith are descended from an early offshott of the Jedi in Legends, so if Ahch-To is one of the Jedi's first homeworlds, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that it would also be one for the Sith. There's plenty of islands, why can't this place be on the other side of Ahch-To? It's fairly forgotten about, but the Sith may have used it for some time, or this is just where Qimir is hanging out at the moment. Then by the time of Plagueius and Palpatine, they could have left the world for some other place, he could have never taken Vader there, and so then by the time of the Sequels, Kylo Ren just doesn't know where Bel'demnic is, which just so happens to be where Luke is hiding out. Ahch-To even has many names. Now while it is in the Unknown Regions versus Bel'demnic's location in the Outer Rim Territories, even location within the Galaxy, it hasn't been referenced in Canon yet according to Wookieepedia. Could also just be a new planet. Given that people were freaking out over Ki-Adi-Mundi's age (we still don't even know why he was featured earlier in the show), perhaps it's not a good idea to change things up too much from Legends. I'm betting there is some wiggle room, but maybe not too much for the sake of fandom sanity. And Qimir is likely before Tenebrous only because of that very reason. Fans are going to be pretty dead set on characters keeping their race. Tenebrous is a Bith (although not yet referenced as such in Canon according to Wookieepedia), Plagueis is a Muun (both Legends and Canon), that's a lot harder to sell beyond changing lifespans of alien species. As for Qimir's age, being a Sith generally takes a toll on the body's physical appearance even if being connected to the Force can extend your life. It's possible that he could have been in stasis at one point in time. The scar on his back certainly looks like it could have been from someone like Vernestra, although perhaps not maliciously. It could have been something where she nicked him by accident, assumed dead, and there just wasn't time to retrieve his body with whatever else was going on. He could have also been in stasis at one point after the scar had already healed. He does emphasis things happening a long time ago, but he still just looks too young. I've also seen it suggested that he was once a padawan alongside Sol, which is why they know one another, but he doesn't count as one of the Fallen 20 of the Jedi since he never achieved the rank of Master before leaving the Jedi. Qimir and Sol seem to know each other too well, Qimir seems to know too much about everything, it's very peculiar. Next week is still rumored to be that flashback episode, so we'll see what answers we're given.

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    Excellent commentary as always. Yeah, I am so torn on who Qimir might be. So many options. So what is your theory on whether we'll get a big reveal about his identity? And I agree, the next episode should give us a ton of answers to the open question list!

  • @MCLegoboy

    @MCLegoboy

    5 күн бұрын

    @@AbitofEverything4U I don't think his identity is really a mystery. His reveal as Mae's master was the sort of not reveal that Mae and Osha being twins was. If they give him a Sith name, great, but he may just be The Stranger for this story just to keep thing simple and allow for some wiggle room. The big twist with Qimir (because it's so much easier to just call him by that alias) is going to be his relationship to everyone else and what part he's played in the past, that's always been the key mystery to the series. If there is a big twist with the Sith, it will be the revelation of who his Master is, but there's still no guarantee that it would even be someone we've heard of because even in Legends, it was really just Bane, his apprentice or two down the line, 1000 years of the Sith in hiding with no identities given, and then Tenebrous, Plagueis, and Sidious. I'm not saying it can't happen, maybe Tenebrous or Plagueis will appear, but it still may be too early depending on what the average Sith career is. They're always out to kill the Master, so it could just be 10-30 years, meaning there's plenty of room for Qimir to have an apprentice who has an apprentice, and that one is Tenebrous. And this is all still assuming he's going to stay aligned with the Sith and not be the first to split away and form the Knights of Ren. Or maybe he is Darth Ren, and he accumulates a secret following that then adopts the name and becomes a force to be reckoned with before becoming a rather derelict group by the time of the Sequels.

    When I was a little kid and first saw Star Wars, I assumed that how Qimir is presented to live is how all Jedi lived. basically semi-spiritual, frugal lives. Funny how you even suggest this idea later in the video too. There are a lot of possible Qimir theories but I suspect it's not going to be anything we're expecting it could be. I am going to say the helmet contains the corrupting essence of Lord Momin. It explains why this helmet has the importance it seems to have in the series so far. Knowledge of Momin was hidden by the Jedi, so it could still dovetail with the Phantom Menace. Qimir's combat ability, the separate voice (maybe that's not a voice changer and why the voice says such strange things ). The helmet was said to be made with a lightsaber and had lots of scars on it. The emphasis on the mask all this time makes it a great legends twist, and never touches the Darth Plagieus and Tenebrous stuff. I think the helmet will show Osha what happened the same time Sol tells what happened to Mae. In canon writing and comics, Palpatine gets this mask out of the Jedi temple (where it was hidden after these events) and gives it to Vader who puts it on for a short time and talks to Lord Momin. It also makes Qimir a very formidable villain as he is really a trained Jedi being driven by Lord Momin's essence.

I’m still convinced that they’re not alone on that island. There has to be someone else there hiding….watching….waiting.

    22:03 Seeing the cover art of "Out of the Shadows", is there a specific reason why Vernestra is bald?

  • @AbitofEverything4U

    @AbitofEverything4U

    6 күн бұрын

    That's a great question. Even wookiepedia doesn't have the answer, which means it's never been revealed. It says: "Vernestra Rwoh was a Mirialan female with green skin, purple-black hair, and blue eyes. Rwoh bore the markings of her family, six tiny black diamonds stacked in two rows of three tattooed on the outside corner of each eye.[Later in her life, she was bald, with diamond markings on the top of her head." So perhaps we'll get the answer revealed at some point?

    I applaud your good-spirited optimism but there’s just a tad too much hopium here. This tv show is like a Dennis Rodman movie at best (turn off your brain and ingest something intoxicating), a Neil Breen movie to be fair, and my college years film noir class project to be pessimistic. There’re too many logic jumps and things that don’t make sense, leaving you hoping for a twist (it never works when you anticipate them because you shouldn’t see them coming), depends on characters being incompetent to advance the plot but also depending on their competence to care about the plot. For my college project, we took criticism to heart and fixed things up. That’s what Disney should’ve done with past films and tv shows. The problem is they don’t want to achieve excellence and be appreciated as a consequence, but they demand appreciation for making something that lacks basic consideration for its fan base as well as people such as myself who study films but have never cared for Star Wars. Yet at least in the past I could appreciate the creative side of it.

    I definitely understand your concerns with the show. The stiff writing has been an issue in some of the episodes. But I’m still enjoying it myself, as I really like the multi-layered mystery. Hey there, most of the problem is you call yourselves "fans" so they treat you as a "fan". In Disneys mind fans are less than. I have been into Star Wars since 1977 not once have a called myself a fan. I am a customer and will always be one. When you demand your bad steak is replaced at "outback". They will because you are a customer not a fan. Remember customers have spent money.

    I agree...if you are unhappy with a given show (in this case The Acolyte) you have every right to be upset and ask for things to change. I like the show, but I respect the fact that it may not be working for you. That said, I refer to us collectively as fans in the video, since I am at heart a fan. I may be a customer due to paying for Disney+, but I am a fan first and foremost. But again, I respect that you consider yourself a customer, first and foremost. Not a problem at all and I do see your perspective on it. Truly appreciate you watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Thanks so much!
