It is good enough and you'd know that too if you didn't get so hyped up about it harkening back to No Mercy.

My biggest problem with the game is the lack of content. It was understandable that the game would be bare bones at first but after paying over $70 for the elite edition I find it extremely disrespectful to fans the fact that they want to keep charging more for "DLC" with the stuff that should be included in the base game, let alone the especial edition.

Further compounding these issues is Tony Khan's status as a literal multi-billionaire. He could just as easily have chosen to release these new packs as free DLC to spread positive intuition among fans, maybe causing them to stick around for something nicer on the horizon. To charge super solid cash for this comes off as greedy and selfish.

The CAW being barebones is absolutely unexcusable for Yukes. "We wanted the game to be like No Mercy" No Mercy had OPTIONS, KENNY!!!

@ANTICENA571 I would argue that No Mercy, although limited in comparison to games that came after in terms of creation options, is still leaps and bounds better than AEW FF due to the amount of options you had for clothing and faces. Hell in AEW I can't even have my character wear a t-shirt without it being tied to entrance gear. I can't even have it tucked in! That seems awfully minor but it's important to some of the guys i want to create. When you have a ton of character slots but only 7 faces to choose from with a handful of hair and beard styles that's a slap in the face.

That was never going to happen when you have Yukes making the game...The exact same people who made Smackdown all the way through to 2K19. THQ was only the publisher, Yukes has always been the developer.

Kenny was the Zack Snyder of this project: A fan boy who has their own ideas about what they think is fun and deciding for us how to enjoy a well known franchise.

RIP to those people that said that this game was gonna “bring old wrestling games back.” The formula was there, but the execution was piss poor. They were really charging $50+ for a half-assed game.

Saddling this AEW game with mountainous expectations is yours and many wrestling gamers' mistake. Fight Forever isn't a bad game either, and I think it's a breath of fresh air from the physics-heavy irritations of the WWE 2K games.

to be fair, that is pretty much TK's MO. He's a wrestling booker/promoter that is nowhere near qualified for the job. The Bucks and Omega are unqualified EVPs Will Washington, a podcaster, got hired for a prominent role because he often complimented AEW and TK

Oh, one thing I wanted to mention that i mentioned in my own video is that when it comes to creation options they were oddly particular about certain parts they included. They have Jushin Liger's mask horns, but no way to feasibly make him. They have Bruiser Brody's chains but, one, he's near impossible to make and two, they HAVE to be part of the wrestler's outfit, not just entrance. They have Road Warrior football pads but nothing resembling the face paint or outfits They have the fucking 7 scars of the Big Dipper for Kenshiro's chest but no way to actually make Kenshiro They even have Buffaloman's chest insignia when he's possessed by the Devil in Kinnikuman/Ultimate Muscle. Not to mention the ludicrous amount of anime inspired taunts but no way to make any anime characters And the most insulting part of all, only 7 faces and a handful of hair and facial hair styles? Really? You gave us like 100 slots for creation but they all ultimately just look like the same 5 guys in different gimmicks? Why would you go out of your way to have these specific oddball creation parts then force the player to stick with the most milquetoast generic creation templates known to man? Gameplay might be the heart and soul of a wrestling game but its creation mode is the blood pumping through that heart. To say I was disappointed would be the understatement of the decade.

They did a good job with what they had. All this saying they "missed the mark" is basically the fans putting way too many expectations on this game's head. If you chilled a bit and just let it be what it was then it wouldn't be anywhere near as disappointing.

It's crazy how Cody appeared in WWE2K23 before a game BASED OFF THE COMPANY HE STARTED. Heck the roster outside of gimmicks wise hasn't aged well in like a month considering Jade left for WWE within a month of release and Punk is already back in WWE . Best thing to do is probably just soft reboot the gane like with Cyberpunk2077. Although a positive is that Bobby Hill finally got his dream in being in a wrestling video game

Roster is super outdated not even counting the people who have came to WWE, it's based on 2020-21 AEW and didn't even have the talent that have been in the company since the start, like Evil Uno. It's so sad that they dropped the ball so hard with the roster

The game’s launch just obfuscated the other flaws by making everyone hyper focused on the glitches, so now an acceptable product is a considered a masterpiece just by comparison. No, it’s not a classic. It’s a subpar, overhyped title and y’all are just trying to cope for the ridiculous amount of hype since you can’t admit the game turned out to be a disappointment even without the bugs.

I was expecting a "WWF No Mercy" style gameplay with WWE 2K level theatrics, instead, I saw half-assery. Christ disappointing.

Looking back on it, I wish we didn’t have to wait so long for the game. All of that built up anticipation made the release feel that much more underwhelming. The gross mismanagement messed it all up

Well, WWE 2K24 has brought back the classic THQ camera angle, the casket, ambulance matches. Special guest referee match. You can also throw weapons, have punch battles, and perform dives off the announce table & steel steps so I don't think FF stands any chance for the foreseeable future... Yuke's WWE games have been not great for years, so I was very surprised that people had any hope for the AEW game. There are issues within Yuke's at a development level that can't be solved by changing the logo on the box.

It really feels like they just failed to play to their strengths with this one. They clearly didn't have the budget to flesh out a proper story mode, and no one was asking for a Battle Royale. So, why waste time and budget on that? Why not do more customization options and match types? Why not do something like a GM mode? It really feels like they had the talent, but were lacking focus.

The roster is Anything but depleting ...and then now that they've got will ospreay I think they have enough big names to build around and work with their already established fanbase they don't need to try to go head to head with WWE they will lose cos they are just not there yet even as fast as the company is growing...they just need to do what they were doing earlier which was building home grown talent cos now they have a decent fanbase who will sit through the build ups ,they don't really need to be hiring any free agent with 80% popularity in the career simulation... Aew has all they need to stay a big company they just have to not go head to head with WWE for a good while and manage the roster better ...at least these days the stories seems to be getting better

There have been reports about issues between Yuke's and AEW like Kenny Omega not getting along with the development team and Yuke's wanting to enter a long term contract which AEW didn't want, plus Yuke's parent company Embracer Group and their current financial woes and handling of the companies they own. If a sequel does happen, I don't see Yuke's making it if the partnership doesn't improve. The game has a good base. It just feels bare bones and lacks a ton of content compared to not just WWE 2k but other games in general.

They better not make a sequel! My understanding was it would be like SF5 where they would build off base game. I REALLY wanted to love this game BUT the lack of CAW options and story mode I have never cared about really but a damper on my enthusiasm for this game. Promise was that we would get a game in the N64 wrestling games but I don’t see it. The matches are not fluid “in my humble opinion” and just feel stiff and disjointed. I just wanted a graphically better better AKI engine with updated move and creation options but sadly I don’t think it delivered. FYI I’m an older gamer “first game system was Atari 2600” and I have waited 20+ years for a true spiritual successor. I guess the old saying is true “you can’t always get back home again” sadly.

This video comes at the best possible time. Especially after they just announced that the season 2 pass is $25, basically for a couple of wrestlers and an arena. I really don't know what they're thinking with the long term strategy of this game.

I'm a huge fan of AEW and this game just feels completely antithetical to the fan-first mentality the company was founded on. Almost seems like they don't understand how the modern day gaming industry works. I'm still blindly hoping they can turn it around but after the announcement of the season 2 pricing, it's not looking so good. I guess we're going to have to wait for Ultra Pro Wrestling to save the day.

This game has so much potential to make a big comeback and become one of the greatest, but with the direction we’re going in right now, with overcharged content, and releasing content that should’ve been at launch, this definitely isn’t a consumer friendly product, and it’s sad to see. I hope I’m wrong and this game can comeback, but for now, the wait game is gonna continue. Very nice video Alex, and the memes continue to be hilarious as ever😂🤣. Keep up the great work🙂👍.

It was doomed from the start. It has no budget, the developer pocketed most of the money and then Omega claimed the shitty graphics were a conscious decision for the game to feel “retro”. I want to have the fun gameplay of old, not the shitty graphics.

Oh but my dear boy, you’re forgetting about the *Season Pass system* that me and several other people pre-paid $80 for the Elite Edition to get. And then as of now, they are asking for $30 MORE for Season 2 just for a few more wrestlers plus an arena. Really shows how much the devs care.

Honestly the worst part about this game is that the matches are actually more fun than 2K’s. There’s just no reason to play them. The Road To Mode is fun the first time, but is super short and doesn’t have as much replay value as they clearly wanted, and the lack of a good character creator means you can’t really get immersed in making your own character and putting them against the AEW roster.

The fact that it took forever for them to release the game and it still looks like this makes it even more depressing that it costs over half a C-note.

i remember preordering it the day before it came out so i could get Broken Matt struggled to figure out how to use Broken Matt, finally figured it out, played 3 matches and havent touched it since. Feel like i should at least go back and witness the bad career mode and stuff but i may just wait to see if it keeps getting updated.

I'm going to give it this: it's a fun arcade toss-up when I played it against my best friend in real life. Outside of that...I really wish AEW and Yukes did their research on a far superior structure of a Story Mode: No Mercy, HCTP, or even SVR '06. Ngl, I'd love if they based unique storylines to explore with your custom/chosen wrestler: - Decide whether or not to be a client of Taz (Path of Rage) - Testing where you lie with a program to Malakai Black, if you have what it takes to be on The House of Black - Proving to The Bucks n' Omega that you're more than just an elite athlete, but larger than life. In order for that to work, they need to rework the cpu vs cpu/AI mechanics. Every match is essentially a 2 minute squash match no matter who’s involved.

I can only imagine how long this took for you to edit all the elements together, but damn it paid off! As for the game itself, I decided to wait and I'm sad that the creation suite is just... empty. It's the one thing keeping me from switching away from 2K. I hope they're working on adding a bunch of stuff all at once, because there's no way that after all this time, they'd just let the game fall into obscurity. Also RTE barely acknowledging your title wins, much like (I think) 2K20 or 2K22's career mode. I remember watching DenkOps play that and he had titles that were just... ignored.

I mainly couldn't get over the kick out system. I hate button mashing to kick out. I need a skill based timed system.

Day of reckoning 2 was a perfect evolution of the no mercy formula. Yes, I said it. In fact, any mods for day of reckoning 2 made?

There's a mod called Forbidden DOR for Day of Reckoning 1, it adds tons of content to the game. The GameCube wrestling games are the best feeling and playing wrestling games to have ever come out in my opinion

Gameplay wise, Fight forever is the evolution of DoR and No Mercy. Just needs more content.

The fact that I genuinely never got to play a singles match longer than 5 minutes or kick out after more than 1 finisher was the worst thing in the game for me.

The irony is that the wrestlers BTS is they didn’t fight forever they probably had a little 2 minute squabble and Khan said this “endangered his life”

My problem was uping CAWs overall even playing road to elite twice it doesn’t keep what I upgrade before my replay

This game’s gameplay was so good, but the content…IT WAS SO LACKING, IT HAD NOTHING.

The core gameplay is great. But they need to keep adding too it for sure. Don't bother with a sequel just keep adding too it.

I purchased the Elite edition of FIght Forever during Black Friday 2023. I am pleased with my purchase because of the reduced price. However, I don't like how expensive the DLC character packs were at launch and continue to be.

This game has potential, hope they improve with dlc, or sequel

I really like the core mechanics, I think it has the funnest matches of any wrestling game in years. And it's a darn shame the content and features are so skimpy.

Think about how lazy you have to be to not have full entrances. We had full entrances back in 1999 for wwf attitude & WM 2000. There’s absolutely no excuses in the world for a wrestling game to not have full entrances in 2023
