Sad to see the vandalism. Used that station for years. While the new one is bright and clean it lacks the charm. Beautiful tiles!

Love that "Mental illness can be beyond debilitating. The brain produces you" sprayed onto the wall. Definitely helps the vibe. And the CCTV, one almost expects a secondary figure to be present on the screens. Cheers for the video.

I went through that station every day for years on my way to work. You had to be in the front section of the train to get off at South Ferry - the platform was so short the rear of the train didn't fit.

That was the same for the A trin to West 4 . Made that mistake once being in the 5 car while half the car in the tunnel and I was on the Rockaway A so the transfer car doors were locked and I had to go all the way to Houston and walk back to the cage on West 4 . Thank goodness the day was nice and it was too cold or precipitated

After Superstorm Sandy hit NYC and flooded out the then new South Ferry Station, the loop was reopened until the opening of the renovated South Ferry Terminus.....

I remember this loop. So much of NYC abandoned.

Damn, used to pass thru the station all the time on the 1 train from Van Cortlandt to Manhattan and back. Everything is still working, even the security cameras.. 😳😳😱

Brooklyn Bridge City Hall was abandoned around 1925-1950 and it DOESNT HAVE GRAFFITI!!!!!!

wow I havent seen that station in years

I went through there in 2014…it got a reprieve due to the damage to the new one. It was well-used back then, very crowded. That’s good for ridership. Very convenient to the ferry 👍

We all miss this old south Ferry loop station. However they will be definitely useing the shuttle trains between Boiling Green and south Ferry loop.

5 train South Ferry Inner Loop on weekends to Bowling Green.

I thought the original South Ferry inner and outer loop were demolished and incorporated into the new terminal. Can someone provide a diagram how both the original and the new are situated to each other?

​​@@tedvalis6071 Sandy totally flooded most of the low part of NYC. Mermaid Ave Coney Island? the Sea Water was almost 5ft deep above the street and sidewalks. The normal water table in that area is about 7ft below street level. Buildings including Hospitals had emergency Back-up power generators, in their basements, they learned their lesson after Sandy hit.

The old S. Ferry Loop is just south of Bowling Green if you look at a subway map south of Rector the trains will cross over to the inner loop thats used for 1 line (or other miscellaneous trains), Outerloop is used now for the 5 trains or to turn trains back north. If you ever been on a southbound 2/3 train last stop Chambers Street 1 tk due to incident they will turn the train at S. Ferry Loop back north

@@christophermorales6056 The outer loop was once used by 5 trains which actually stopped there during evenings and weekends but 5 trains terminating at Bowling Green actually use the inner loop to reverse and head back uptown. The outer loop is operable and could be used to store an out of service train.

I assume the only way to see this station is if you stay on the 5 train on weekends when it turns around at Bowling green and has to use the inner south ferry loop! Then again, I don't know if the MTA allows this unlike the City Hall loop for the 6 train!

That station is not Abandon it’s used for movies and TV shows. Also just in case The New South ferry Station goes out of service they can use this station temporary like they did during Sandy
