The 7 most common EARLY SIGNS OF LABOR and why you should NOT rely on them | Early Signs of Labor

Have you been wondering if the things that your body is going through are early signs of labor? If so, you too probably hope that labor is near? Indeed, most of the signs that are commonly known as “early signs of labor” are signs that labor is close. And yet, you should not rely on them if you really want to know if you will be going into labor anytime soon.
So, in this video, Nathalie Kaufmann, Pregnancy and Birth Consultant and TCM therapist, and Mathias Ritter, Science Expert, explain the 7 most common “early signs of labor”. In fact, they explain which signs are early signs of labor, why they could mean that labor is near but why you should not rely on them predicting exactly that.
Moreover, they look at two cases from Nathalie’s clinic, Olivia and Emma, who have been experiencing the early signs of labor quite differently than other women. And they do that in order to help you understand why you should not rely on early signs of labor and why in fact, labor could have started already, before you experience them.
Finally, they present the only “early sign of labor” that you need to pay attention to if you want to know for sure if labor is close.

    Thanks so much for watching! 😊 With this video, we want to help you understand that every woman experiences early signs of labor differently. For some women, they may indeed be “early” signs that labor is close. For others, they can be signs that labor is only hours away, or that labor has even started. So, don’t worry if you experience these signs differently than other women. You are unique and so is your pregnancy! 💕 What kind of “early signs of labor” have YOU been experiencing so far?

    I'm 37 weeks pregnant. I've been feeling mild menstrual cramps with backpain for a week now. I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks from week 34. Last day when I timed my Braxton Hicks, it came in every 7 minutes intervals. My cervix hasn't dialated yet. Is there a possibility that I deliver in the coming week?

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there Aslaha 😊, it is very difficult to say, when you will be going into labor. The problem in general is that even if two women experience the same kind of "labor signs", one may go into labor, the other one may not. It's really different from woman to woman. But in general, if you observe that your contractions change their pattern and suddenly come in closer intervals, then it COULD be a sign that labor is close. So maybe, the fact that the interval of your Braxton Hicks is already so short COULD be a sign that they are not Braxton Hicks. But if you want to test it, try to take a 20min warm bath and see if they improve. If they do improve, then they are indeed only just Braxton Hicks... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there 😘, given the fact that we just came across a case of a woman who thought she is in labor because of "pain that felt like a kidney stone" - which eventually indeed turned out to be a kidney stone, we actually recommend talking with your doctor about what you experience! In general, it is very difficult for us to tell if Braxton Hicks could feel like kidney stone pain because we don't know what it feels like... So, we recommend talking with your doctor about it - thank you! We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there 😊, we would LOVE to tell you that you are in active labor. But back pain alone may not be enough! 🙉 Back pain is so common at the end of a pregnancy, particularly, after the baby has dropped. And even more so, if your baby is "sunny side up", i.e. if baby is facing your belly. Because then the baby presses with the head on your spine as baby moves deeper into the pelvis. With that said, of course, back pain COULD also be part of a contraction. Most women say that contractions start somewhere at the back (or sides) and then move to the front or vice versa. But of course, contractions would come and go in waves. So, it's all about the timing of the pain and the frequency. 😊 As always: if you are not sure, calling your doctor or midwife is never the wrong thing to do, particularly, when it comes to anything pain-related...! All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    I never had any major ‘early signs of labour nearing’ with my first two babies, and never thought too much into anything (my first came spontaneously at 39 weeks and 5 days, and my second was induced at exactly 38 weeks). I am currently pregnant with my third and am 38 weeks and 3 days today. At almost 37 weeks I actually had a lil bit of bloody show (lost some bloody mucus over the course of an hour in the evening). I’ve also been repeatedly told she is VERY low/engaged when I have had some recent scans to check her position (one scan at 36 weeks and one at 38 weeks). I’ve been getting HEAPS of pressure in my crotch (along with lightening crotch pains) - sometimes even when I have a braxton hicks, I almost feel like an odd urge to push a poop out. I didn’t have any of this with my first two at all, yet this bub still doesn’t seem to want to come out despite all these symptoms spannning the last few weeks. I swear she’ll end up being my first over due baby 🤣🤣🤣

    Hi there 😊, thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with us!! ❤️😊 We are always super happy when women share their own story on our channel because this is SO helpful for other moms!! By the way: we see LOTS of cases like yours: mothers who seem overdue (not pregnancy-week wise but symptoms-wise) but they just don't go into labor. However, we do have to say that NORMALLY these are exactly the cases when acupuncture can work really really well to induce labor (we say this because under normal circumstances, acupuncture cannot induce labor). That said, we love your approach: don't think too much into it! After all, women are made for childbirth! It's only a matter of time! We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there 😊, it could be! 😊 There is a test that you can try. Whenever you feel those contractions, take a 20min warm bath. If the pain improves or even disappears, then you know that they cannot be true labor contractions. True labor contractions do not go away by anything that you do... If the pain does not improve, then you have to time them. At first, they will probably only be some 10 minutes apart. But eventually, they will come in closer and closer intervals. Plus, they will become longer and stronger. When that's the case (i.e. when that pattern changes), it is normally a sign that you are in labor (or at least that you are going into labor)... By the way: have you talked with your midwife yet? It would be good to let her know that you experience these symptoms since you are "only" 36 weeks pregnant... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there 😊, to be honest with you: sometimes, it's impossible to know the difference. 😊 However, NORMALLY, baby's movements do not last long and NORMALLY the continue when you change your position or activity. Braxton Hicks on the other hand may last longer (they often last between 30seconds and 2 minutes) but they go away when you change your activity or position or when you take a bath. But again, very often, it's really difficult to know for sure what it is! 😊 All the best for you and your baby! ❤️

    Hello Jennefer 😊! absolutely! 😊 So, as long as a woman is less than 34 weeks pregnant, we have found that "pelvic rocking" on a birth ball can be very effective to turn a baby. We explain how it works in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/imensbGbob2uorw.html And then if a baby is still breech baby by week 34, then one thing that has helped many women to turn their baby is moxibustion in combination with other exercises. We explain how everything works in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2GfypinqKrRc84.html Please keep in mind that a baby can only turn if nothing prevents the baby from doing so (like the cord). We really hope this helps!! All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    Hi there 😊, it's very difficult to say if what you experience is due to labor or something else because, of course, there can also be many other reasons why you feel nauseas (f.e. a stomach bug or food poisoning). Honestly, if your vomiting is severe, we would go and see a doctor. Vomiting should not be taken lightly, because it leads to dehydration. So, the best is really to have a checkup so that your know for sure where this is coming from... We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Does Braxton hicks contractions feel like stitches in your belly?

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there 😊, it's so difficult to definitely say that it's Braxton Hicks that you are feeling because the problem is, every woman describes the feeling of Braxton Hicks differently. All we can say is that we do know cases of women who DID describe Braxton Hicks as a stitching-like sensation. So, it could be that it's indeed Braxton Hicks that you are feeling. As always though: if you are feeling any kind of pain during your pregnancy and you are not sure about what it is, then the right thing to do is always to call your doctor! All the best for you and your baby!! ❤️❤️

    Hi there ❤️, when you experience baby dropping symptoms that early, we recommend talking to your doctor. But don't be worried just yet! Most probably, everything is fine! However, we just want to make sure that you don't go into preterm labor. That is why some doctors will recommend resting in bed if you experience baby dropping symptoms that early. But it's really up to your particular pregnancy case, which is why it is important that you talk to the doctor who is familiar with your case! We wish you all the best for you and your baby!! ❤️

    I've been having a blessed pregnancy without much of the annoying symptoms of it. I'm 39 weeks now and I don't feel much backpain like I've heard some women complain about. The only thing I'm noticing is spending all my time in the bathroom. I'm getting concerned about this little guy not coming out until 14th April, when I have a scheduled appointment, and I'll be induced. I'm also concerned that because I had such a painless and easy pregnancy, I won't be able to endure the strength of the contractions and labour in general.

  • @CareAboutLittleOnes

    @CareAboutLittleOnes

    Hi there 😊, first of all, the fact that you have had a painless and easy pregnancy does not mean at all that you won't have the strength to endure your labor. You are just as capable of enduring labor as every other woman... 😊 Also, we would not worry too much about not going into labor. If you spend so much time in the bathroom, it NORMALLY means that your baby has dropped. When this happens, more pressure will be put on the cervix. And this will help with the cervical changes and with a spontaneous start of labor. So, our message here is: please don't put pressure on you! Try to relax as good as you can! And trust that your body knows what it is doing.... We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there! 😊 Don't be worried!! Losing the mucus plug is a good sign because it shows you that you are preparing for labor! In fact, it could be that you are in pre-labor which is when contractions are still very irregular (given that they are not just Braxton Hicks). In any case, it seems that your little baby don't want to wait any longer to finally meet her mommy! 😍 We wish you all the best for the upcoming delivery, for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there 😊, every single one of the things that you just described are NORMALLY signs that labor is close. 😊 Of course, there is never a guarantee that this is true for you too! However, we would not be surprised if you went into labor anytime soon... Just keep an eye on your discharge. When you say that you feel wet in your underwear, it's important to exclude that you leak any water. If you are unsure if it is water that you are leaking or if you believe that your symptoms are due to anything else, please call your midwife! Otherwise, prepare to meet your baby! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for the upcoming birth, for you and your baby!! ❤️

    Hi there 😘, we are quite surprised to hear this! Since when is not being dilated before labor starts a reason for a C-section??? Of course, it would be great if you were a bit dilated even before labor starts. However, please note that many women go into labor WITHOUT being dilated! And they have a totally normal delivery. The contractions will take care of your dilation! Therefore, there must have been other medical reasons why your doctor proposed a C-section?? Also, regarding baby's engagement: we are not aware that baby not being engaged is a reason for a C-section. Some babies only engage very late (like hours before labor starts). Others only engage AFTER labor has started... So, please try not to worry too much! Here is a video that may help with engagement: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2yTrLaQcbateNo.html Moreover, if your doctor presses for a C-section without medical reasons, we strongly recommend getting a second opinion! We hope this helps! 😊 We wish you ALL THE BEST for you and your baby!! ❤️
