Good job ranking these, man! Glad I'm a subscriber. I've always liked the live version of Sympathy from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out better than the studio version.

You did the British version of Between the Buttons, the American version did indeed contain hits,Let's spend the night together and Ruby Tuesday. The album Flowers, while considered a compilation contained the two songs cut from Buttons to make room for the hits,Please go home and Back Street Girl. This was also the album that had Have you seen your mother, baby which was only released as a single at this time. The songs Ride on Baby,Sitting on a fence and My girl(I know, old outtake) made this comp over half material that was new to American audiences at the time.

Fun ranking. The Stones in the '60s were all over the place, touring constantly and recording wherever they could. As a result of this hectic schedule, those albums tend to be inconsistent but very interesting. I'm a little surprised that you included DECEMBER'S CHILDREN but not FLOWERS as the latter is another odds & ends collection that holds together very well. Probably more could be said about Brian Jones' sonic contributions to this era of the band: his slide work on the early albums and the eclectic instrumentation (dulcimers, recorders, marimbas, etc.) later helped define the baroque sound of serious English pop. I'm a little kinder to SATANIC'S as it's such a left turn for the band, instrumentally. A failed attempt at psychedelia but with the seeds of their darker side poking through the patchouli. After this, Jones fades away and the band have to re-invent themselves. BEGGAR'S is the last of their London era material, re-embracing Americana and kicking off their classic run through to EXILE ON MAIN ST. Most to the albums from this era belong in the top half of their discography. The songwriting is sharp, covers are reverential and instrumentation grows more confident with each album.

Me too Banquet is a perfect album. It is my favourite Stones lp, though Sticky and exile might be better albums (it’s arguable), it’s tops. Exile has just a few filler songs which drops it a couple notches. Sticky is on par, but Banquet captures the unrest in 1968 and is the backbone to the soundtrack of Coming Home, one of the great anti-war movies ever. Time capsule. It was also mostly performed in a obscure rock movie “Rock n Roll Circus” where the Stones just shred. Best performance by them ever, including Jonesy. They only topped by the Who’s A Quick One in that movie. Must watch!!!!!

😮I have to agree with your top 10 rankings. Ironically possibly my favourite Stones song is not on any of them, "Jiving sister Fanny"

I can understand your frustration with Satanic Majesties but I can’t possibly understand how it could be at the bottom.

@@theopinionatedhippie470 So, technically you're right. The only promotional shit I saw at the time for Let It Bleed it was a pull-out poster of the album cover in Billboard; in fact MT is only barely on that album...(much like BJ!)
