Great job esp 1:43 War of Art quote
i think the reason why creativity is unfortunately becoming more and more rare is that there are too many distractions in life these days, an over abundance of things to consume. And when you are spending too much tine in consumption mode, you never develop those creative muscles and if you already built them, they will slowly wither away when not used.

Nah I think it’s because society at every point doesn’t value it enough. From a young age school teaches the importance of rules. EVERYTHING is rule based, even how they teach art is based on fitting things in boxes. Then you go to work and again most of it is rules and putting things in boxes. It’s why dyslexia is associated with creativity, it’s not because dyslexic people are born more creative they are born unable to think the way the system insists we all think. And have to be creative to survive.

Who are your customer meaning your fans ? what problem are u solving, EXAMPLE - listen to mary j blige what problem is are music solving? . what feeling do u get when listening to your favourite artist ? its about changing perspective Minas.
Creativity flourishes when one does what gives one pleasure, unmotivated by thought of an outside reward.

This hits close home. I've been trying to make a videogame for over a year and noticed I can only progress by working on it and failing on the process. Some weeks it makes me feel like sh*t because I keep looping on the same problems over and over, I get frustrated and instead of working I stop to think, but it never helps, the only way is to keep trying.

You absolutely have to give yourself an opportunity to come up with junk. I used to write down 10 ideas a day, 9 of them were pure trash, but it was worth it to get that 1 good idea!
this video is what i needed to hear, it feels like i have been stuck in a creative block for months, but creativity is my passion, it’s how i thrive so it’s obviously quite bothersome to feel like it’s so out of reach. this may be due to some mental health obstacles and a huge fear of failure i’m trying to overcome, but this video gives some good perspective, it reminds me that there’s ways to nourish my creative brain again and i can work through this with time
I keep coming back to this video every few months, it's so true, all of it!!!

Great video! I found your discussion on the need to think like a professional in order to create great work to be extremely valuable. I will definitely be taking this advice to heart and working towards becoming a more professional and confident creator. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
I struggle balancing the old adage “doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity” with the idea that you have to storm through failure after failure to get to something that is great.
@hi-gf5yl

Dudadius you’re making the assumption that you fail the same way but there’s many ways to fail. As long as you try something slightly different each time, then you aren’t insane because doing a different thing doesn’t necessarily guarantee success.

Excellent as always and much needed as I struggle to finish a non=fiction book! Thank you!
I was surprised by the fact that I had meditated on these topics before this video and had the same conclusion with only different wording. And some of these even work in self-improvement if you reword them. 1. permission to fail 2. reiterate old thoughts based on new information 3. be open to combine all you know, art, physics, chemistry 4. force yourself to see things from a teachers perspective and contemplate how you would teach it to someone with limited theory. 5. the fewer unknowns you have in the process, the more accurate your prediction of the end result is. 6. goof around with any and all ideas. Jules Verne was the science fictionist of his time, and now his fiction is reality. Most scientific discoveries are by accident but with the ability to explain what has transpired, OR a really over the top idea that might not be in the realm of possibility but the even the dead end road might still have a few lessons to give.
I love this channel man

This really spoke to me, thanks for this great vid. Creating is a continual process 👍🏻
I thought of all the possibilities when I began creating art, composing music for videos, television, and movies, photography, and writing books. I never thought of my creativity as junk, because the finished product never existed before. I brought everything to light. Today I'm still creating.

This reminds me of the Warren Buffett method of goal-setting. Make a list of 10 things you want to achieve in the next . Rank them by importance/feasibility. Remove the bottom seven and forget about them, because you can't achieve that many things at the same time. Focus on the top 3 and formulate a plan to accomplish your goals. Letting go of those bottom 7 things, even though they are important to you, is the "what you don't put in your art is what matters" section of this video.
I love this.." quantity Breeds QUALITY"

Be prolific, not perfect. In the words of a well known sports apparel company: Just Do It. :)
Idk I think my idea goes against some of this, but usually I put aside my ego, my conscious mind aside, to let more abstract ideas flow. More often than not, it usually produces shit, but I sometimes get songs, lyrics or poems that are pretty good in my mind and I keep them. Idk if this helps anyone, but I know you've got this :)))

This is really motivating, for all the people that think that have to be a genius to be a man of value! thats not true and if it is it i dont thing that has any value on it, innovations is in hand of common not innovative in common, and as there are muscle men and overly sexy women would be an stigma of exaggereted intelligence for own value. dont give up!! and be an autodidact, shit maybe an idea you have can change the world.

On creating junk, it's always been my opinion that you have to start somewhere; you will accomplish nothing by doing nothing.
Whenever I work on an art peice I do like a minimum of 5 drawings and either pick the good bits out or just edit the same drawing over and over till I like it lol. Resisting all criticism is dumb, this will lead to delusional thinking and narcissism. You have to be your own critic, only allow the very best through the creative process and nothing less.
It's sort of like smithing, the more you craft the better you get at crafting.
0:16 as far as I'm concerned research suggests the exact opposite...

Picasso was married into an Aristocratic Family - Nepotism Beethoven and Mozzart catered specifically to the Imperial folks ( kind and queen I guess) Warhol also wooed and seduced the Millionaires and so did Dali in NY. So more than just Artistic Excellence - Social Skills and Social Connectivity is very important to succeed. You have to Party with the important people and become an influencer. that will truly put you on a stage! :)

This video makes a lot of good points, but the conclusion is incomplete IMO. "Quantity breeds Quality" is not the full story. Quantity helps you find the seed of something awesome, but once you find that seed, you don't instantly have something of quality. Quality requires pausing your quantity mindset and turning toward a more nurturing and explorative mindset in order to grow that seed into something of high quality. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Many people skip this step and ship the seed, or a half-watered seed, instead of truly polishing it into something great after it has been discovered. But you can't just polish the first thing you encounter, so the quantity step at the start is also very important.
There is world of difference between _Creative Junk_ and _Creative Genius_ Throwing paint at a canvas is not creative. Having the skill to paint a _Mona Lisa_ is. The difference is having the *intelligence to identify a good idea* and ability to make it happen. It's easy to be a Creative Genius all you need is Intelligence, Inquisitiveness, Intuition, Analytical Thinking, Vast Knowledge, Practical Skills, Belief and Persistence.
