    I think most people don't think outside the box because they think that somehow the solution is magically waiting to found in the same dimension where the problem is presented, when in fact actually thinking outside the box is about understanding that certain solutions are not possible unless you change the dimension in which you are operating. Thinking outside the box is about changing how we think when we are thinking. It's about maintaining a balance between truly understanding what the limitations are while seeking what is possible without falling into fantastical abstractions away from reality.

  • @IsaacC20

    @IsaacC20

    3 ай бұрын

    "Thinking outside the box is about changing how we think when we are thinking" That's an excellent explanation, one of my fave. I would like to add that "thinking outside the box" (creative thinking) can be an experience. It usually begins with a problem: a question that a person's curiosity drove to ask, or a problem that a person had never seen before (revealing person's mental blindspot). That person will try to solve the problem and usually they fail. If the problem has been solved before, the act of looking for and understanding someone else's solution, and seeing how the "old" way of thinking led them to be stuck - almost emulates the change in thinking that the problem solver underwent. Thinking outside the box requires a set of skills: the ability to analyze/observe/scrutinize details that may have been overlooked or question hidden assumptions that lead one to "remain inside the dimension where the problem is presented". It also requires inventiveness, both the resourcefulness to build off of existing well understood ideas and the pioneering spirit to pursue an idea that has never been tried/scrutinized by the community.

    @@IsaacC20 So basically Thinking out of the box or Creativity are never intentional or deliberate. When you are immersed in something these are the outcomes. They come on their own. My view is - Do something with utmost sincerity (lovingly); for long time and uninterrupted. Reflect more, read less. You will start seeing different plausible solutions (and most likely as @chrisalex001 said, from other dimensions.

    For me thinking outside the box, first, you have to know the box is, then you will find another box that bigger and you never or cant go outside that box, that is the rule of the game, and then you will find another small box that you have to protect no matter what, that is the problem you have to solve, so, you can do everything to the small box and get it done without getting out the bigger box. Thats the game.

    That's true! When I was in university of science my best mark was at math. Not because I was excellent but because since the beginning of the semester I spent from 10min to 30 min every single day solving problems. When the final exams came (even I was going through a breakup) I got on the exam the best mark of 3 years of university of all subjects ! I learned that Consistency is the key and that good results come only if you spend hours of work and dedication to your craft. Pretty much like anything in Life.🙏

    Major takeaways for me, also an educator and mother: 1. Equipping and empowering people to take off as soon as possible on their own (critical thinking). 2. Truly immersing oneself in “other” types of lives (empathy). 3. Focusing on being thoughtful and employing one’s artistry and academia more in the bigger picture (mindfulness). 4. Allowing for truly thinking outside of the box; on and off the page, see first example in video (mindset.) 5. Going into various disciplines, and using the juncture to improve on all sides; drama example for math teacher (authenticity). This video actually is a sort of rundown on a lot of terms we’ve been scrambling over the last 10 years, but put into context they are just more approachable. Thank you, I think this can really help a lot of people fill the slogans they encounter on a daily basis with real life! And meaning!

    What an excellent approach to education! Where I live the education system is based on memorizing things, close the book and ask them to explain what they have just learned, ask them to connect with another subject or create some new idea out of that information and they literally can't. It's like people developed a fear to think. Everyone just focused on passing the exams. We need more people like him to make an awareness everywhere in the world.
