    Hi Ryan, I love your content!!! Can you help with the finer details of the Elliott wave? 1)Can wave 4 skim/touch wave 1 at any point at the tip or would that make the EW ineligible 2)Do you count Elliott waves during After Hour Trading as an extension to Open Market Hours? Thank you so much!!!

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Mary, your kind words are very appreciated! 1)The only time I accept any type of overlap between waves 4 and 1 are during leading or ending diagonals. I've never found a situation where there is overlap between these waves otherwise. 2) I don't use after-hour trading data in my Elliott Wave counts, it's lighter volume and therefore not a great representation of social mood, which is what Elliott Wave seeks to quantify. I hope that helps!

    Great video and thanks for sharing this. My biggest problem with elliott waves is i seem to be mistaking a corrective zig zag pattern with a first wave. i see a nice fib retracement after strong move, i see price breaks the retracement point and the moment i think it is the proof that 3rd wave begins, the chart generates another comple correction and i lose. Do you have any insights about this?

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks, very glad to share! Are you mistaking a zigzag with waves 1-3 or just wave 1? The latter would make more sense, since a zigzag would be a three-wave move while a 1st wave would be a five-wave move. The safest approach I know of is to wait for a completed five-wave move and for it to be corrected by a Fibonacci portion (somewhere between 38.2% and 61.8%). Once it begins to turn higher from that area, that's your buy point. You can determine your level of aggression based on how big of a five-wave move you want to see before you get in. You could buy it after just a small 5-up 3-down, or wait for the formation of a five-wave pattern on one larger time frame. I hope that helps!

    5:21 why is countertrend B placed at that peak and not the peak before? In which case it would be a downtrend 5 wave which is what it looks like to me.

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    2 жыл бұрын

    Wave B is placed there because wave B itself should be an ABC move, which it is with this labeling, and wave C should be a five-wave decline, which it is with this labeling. It's the best fit which is always what we seek to find.

    I have a question. Elliot wave is said to be fractal. But when you go on a lower time frame the price action seems choppy and the internals are not clear when you have a five-wave move on a higher time frame. How do you override this problem? Thank you for the video. I enjoyed the content.

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Omar, Elliott Wave is a fractal. If a new up trend is starting, you should be able to identify five-wave patterns all the way down to the intra-day one-minute action. There are a couple of exceptions, most notably a leading diagonal. But in my experience, you do get trendy price action on all time frames and if you're not, then you're probably not at the start of a new trend and are instead still in a countertrend pullback. I hope that helps!

    why you don't use the Fibonacci rules with the Eliott wave? to make it complete like for exemple wave 3 goes usually to 1.618 or 2.618 ... so if is shorter then 1.618 it's probably not a wave 3 and so one same for abc they all have Fibonacci targets

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    3 жыл бұрын

    I need a little clarification on your question here. My confusion comes from ABCXABC vs double ZigZag, those can be the same thing said in two different ways in my mind. The biggest difference between a standard ABC pullback and a complex ABCXABC is the final down leg of the pullback. If it looks like a five-wave move, it's likely just a C wave in a standard correction. If it is a three-wave move, then chances are it's the second ABC of a complex ABCXABC structure. I hope that helps!

Thats the trick of the market every traders has different perception... and dont tell me if you see the trend is goin bullish while other see bearish!! Well go on your own risk level and read the price on your own risk and not involve other 😁

    Hello Ryan, I am in india. I have been trading in Indian stock markets for a long time. When ever I apply Elliott wave theory I loose money. I think my count is correct because I saw your youtube video on Nifty and my count your count does match but the story ends there. I count that Nifty is in wave four which started at 17214. As soon as I saw Nifty hit that mark I sold calls and bought puts. Markets went down as per my expectations. but Nifty turned on the bull side at about 17055. I thought this is a start of wave b so I got out of my bearish positions at about half way through wave b. I was expecting wave b to end 140% at most but it went all the way up to 161% of wave a, at closing today. The waves are matching the definition of corrective waves but how can wave b go all the way to 161% is what bothers me. I searched on the net and I got a response on google search that Elliott wave theory is fake. I could not believe this. I am sort of unhappy and feeling down rightnow, reading that Elliott wave theory is fake. Then I remembered watching your video on Nifty sometime back. So I am writing to you about the situation I face.

    Hello Shelat69, It sounds to me like you are trying to trade buy Puts during super small countertrend pullbacks. This is a bad idea in my view. The trend is up on many time frames, and it's dangerous to go against the dominant trend. Always enter positions in the direction of the trend, not against it. NIFTY may be getting closer to an end to the up leg that began in March 2020 - a move below 16200 would be the first clue of a high - but until there is a sign of weakness, higher prices have to be expected. I am pretty sure you can find any opinion about anything on the internet. It's not surprising that a trading strategy like the Elliott Wave Theory has some doubters out there, of course it does. Every strategy has doubters because not everyone agrees on what makes the markets move. I've used Elliott Wave for over 20 years and it's the only thing I will ever use. You decide for yourself what makes sense. But most importantly, if you're losing money trading Elliott Wave as you've indicated, you really have to stop trading against the trend. I hope that is helpful advice!

    Yep, you got it, it's all one big joke. Or you could watch the video that talks about finding entry levels and NOT the one that talks about the biggest mistakes you can make. If you can't find the value in having a theory providing specific information on when a move is a trend and when to expect it to end, or that a corrective move is nearing an end, then you're right, Elliott Wave is not for you.If it's not helpful to you, move on.

    @@TrendLizard It was not meant to offend you, but Elliot wave theory is now more than 80 years old now, Markets have evolved, (Even previous laws of physics are broken with the modern research, and its just a theory) I did watch your other video as well which illustrate a possible entry, but after watching this one, there is a lot of contradiction and everything is subjective until it is finally completed. The rules of the theory are very loosely defined to always seem correct and the trader can blame himself but only at the end of both trendy and corrective cycle. Another thing is very obvious if a trader is so experienced like 20 years old and know it very deeply, he must be super rich to compete with the world's richest people because stock, crypto and forex market has so much potential, with an accuracy of 80% anyone can be billionaire within a few years if not months, I hope you are one of them already ..! Cheers.
