In this video you mention that the 2 to 3 run has to be the largest (or equal) of the runs... are you talking specifically about the "length" of the time axis? or the "height" of the price axis? for the 2->3 move... does my question make sense?

    Great to hear, thanks for sharing! This is in reference to wave 3 of a trendy move. Wave 3 can not be the shortest up move, meaning either wave 1 or wave 5 of the same move has to be smaller than wave 3, and that is in reference to points, so wave 3 has to be bigger in size. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Try applying this to a bunch of different stocks and you might be less giddy. There's a lot of cherry picking of time-frames, and it doesn't seem to account for random world events that shape markets. Mass psychology can't force those events to happen in tidy five-wave series.

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Robert, the important thing is the form of that pullback. Pretty much every pullback worth its weight will give you lower lows and lower highs; otherwise no one would ever be fooled into thinking an important high is in. Instead what you want to look for is the form of the pullback; it's a three-wave (ABC) move. If you see a three-wave move like that, you know the pullback is a countertrend move and therefore happening in the opposite direction of the true trend. I hope that makes sense. If you have any other specific questions, email me at Ryan@TrendLizard.com!

    So if I understand this, CSCO completed its 5th wave in April 2019, and the correction from there lasted until October 2020, seemingly putting us in wave 1 from then to now. That means that the correction is coming (likely matching the soon-to-come whole market correction) and then we hit an explosive wave 3. Or I don't know what I am talking about, but it seems to match. Though it really doesn't look like your Grubhub prediction played out very long. Wave 5's top was within a couple weeks and then it's been a long slow grind after.

    CSCO did give us a larger degree pullback off the 2019 high as indicated in the video. We can't say with certainty that this pullback is over; the entire recovery off the 2020 low could be one large B wave within a larger ABC pullback. A move below 42.50 at any point says it is. If instead the pullback did end in 2020, then the up leg that began in October 2020 clearly looks like a 3rd wave or at least the start of a 3rd wave up. I'm not sure what you're seeing on GRUB; it was an example of a previous setup that already played out and would have been a good trade. I wasn't making any additional forecast.

    Is The market is asymetrical? Or is there a bearish version with 5 waves down and 3 moves up?

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    Жыл бұрын

    There is a bearish version. When the trend is down, we expect to find trendy five-wave declines and three-wave recoveries. On a long enough time frame, all trends are expected to be up. So ultimately, we'd expect any major bear market to become a three-wave move. But on the shorter time frames (even up to multi-year moves), we'd expect downtrends to play out via five-wave moves. I hope that helps!

    Hi Jim, I don't know of any Elliott Wave Theory courses. I'd recommend two things; reading The Elliott Wave Principle by Frost and Prechter, and coming to my website at TrendLizard.com, our goal is to trade but also to teach folks how to apply Elliott Wave in real time to current market action.

    I'm not certain what you are referring to with the 8 rejections comment, please clarify and I'll do my best to answer. Regarding time frame, the Elliott Wave theory can be applied to any time frame. I find it to be most accurate on the mid and long-term time frames.

    Love to hear it Tracy, thanks! Elliott Wave is a fractal system so the theory states that it happens on infinitely small and infinitely large time frames. In reality, I wouldn't be too picky about the Elliott Wave patterns when look at at one-minute candlesticks. My favorite sized candlesticks to use are 10-minute, 1-hour, daily, and weekly. I personally use 1-hour candlesticks covering anywhere from six months to five years of overall time, depending on what stock or ETF you're analyzing. I hope that helps!

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    14 күн бұрын

    It's not always completely obvious, but you do expect wave 1 to take a five-wave form itself, which means you should get a 2nd and 4th wave pullback (on a smaller time frame) within that larger 1st wave advance. Usually, if it's not super obvious in real time, it becomes more obvious as larger patterns complete. I hope that helps!

Next step would be how this long position attacks higher supply level ON THE SAME 4H chart & only sell if forex pair turns down at this higher supply level--otherwise just hold the position on to next higher supply level ON SAME 4 HOUR CHART--any modifications/wisdom?

  • @TrendLizard

    @TrendLizard

    2 жыл бұрын

    The most important part of finding out when an up leg is going to complete is by looking for the completed five-wave move. As far as targets go, the best bet is to use Fibonacci extensions. The short of it is that we'd look for wave 3 to be 161.8% the size of wave 1 and wave 5 to be 100% the size of wave 1. These are very ballpark'ed estimates. If this part interests you, there's a ton of stuff out there on Fibonacci extensions (with Elliott Wave), I'd do research on that.
