My aunt has owned nothing but a Toyota Avalon since they came out. She had a 98, 01, 06, 12' and now has a 18'. I asked her what her next car was gonna be since they discontinued them and she was like "Well, I guess I'll either finally get a Lexus or this Avalon will be my last car." She's 72 now.

I own a 2012 Limited Avalon. I have been driving it for over 5 years and I LOVE IT !! The best car I have ever owned. There is only one thing about it I don't understand....For a luxury car like this Toyota did not make provision for securing your belongings in a valet situation? There is just no way to hand your vehicle over to a Valet without giving him/her full access to the whole car. I use to own a 1994 Acura Legend and I could lock my things in the glove box and/or the trunk, give the valet the "valet" key and my private property remained private. That's the way it should be with a luxury car. At times I miss that feature.
Purchased one 2 months ago with 63 thousand miles and runs perfect. I have been getting around 27mpgs combine no complaints, love it so far

An excellent car thus far. I purchased a 2011Toyota Avalon (basic model) 2 months ago with 97,000 miles. 2 months later it’s still driving fine. I put 650 miles on it thus far. My CpA told me he drove an Avalon years ago and said that I should expect to get another 100,000 miles on it with proper maintenance.👍😀

It’s the new balance dad shoes of cars. It looks like a reliable, humble, predictable, boring, comfortable car. If the crown Victoria was Japanese. This gen is the best looking of all Avalon, this look didn’t last long so it’s kinda rare. Toyota were criticized for looking too conservative, now Toyotas look like what a boomer thinks young people like. People want to look flashy now, while boomers tend to want to hide their wealth. Only thing I wish it could do is fold rear seats to access the big trunk to fit bikes in. But it’s not a outdoor utility vehicle but a cruiser, probably the most comfortable car to ride across many states.
I love my 2005 Avalon…bought it brand new 18 years ago. It currently has 260,000 miles on it and drives better than new cars on the road today! Car has been extremely reliable and 9:24 comfortable. I had to replace the water pump about a year ago and replaced the serpentine belt while I was at it. The car is so quiet at idle you can barely hear it running…. I plan on keeping it to see just how far it will last…love love love my Avalon!!!

FYI, Price includes Tax, Tags, shipping and a warranty. Expensive, yes, but worth it for this near perfect example.
I totally agree with you BUT your friend got taken for a ride . Yes it had low miles when he bought it But still the car is over 10 years old. At the price that he paid for it they could have at least gave him 4 brand new tires And some other little extras. Only good thing about this deal was it wasn't a CVT transmission And the engine is second to none. I think if he kept it for 5 years he could turn around and sell it for at least $10,000 provided that the mileage is very attractive to a buyer.
Another great video!

@@BernonCars I agree with everything you had to say about the car. Mine was purchased second hand as a winter car. Drove it 6 years. It had 230,000 kms when I sold it. We needed something smaller and more fuel efficient for city driving - replaced it with a Prius C. Not as comfy, powerful, luxurious or smooth as the Av … but it’s crazily fuel efficient and better suited to our current needs.
The biggest competition to the Avalon was the Lexus ES350. It lost, though.

Well done review. A couple features that appear in the limited version that were not touched upon in this video are (1) a sport mode for shifting manually and (2) drivers seat leg support, which extends the depth of the seat from back to knees. If manipulated right, the sport mode can bring the 0 - 60 down to 6 seconds, and maybe into the upper 5 second range. The driver's seat extender is awesome for long drives, as it provides more thigh support - improving circulation. The Limited has both a telescoping and tilting steering wheel, although these are separate controls and both are mechanical rather than electronic. The 2011 - 2012 Avalon is a gem among cars, especially in terms of long-term reliability. I sort of hate that the secret is getting out, as I often think about getting a second one.

Those years are going for $16k with similar miles. You confirmed that the 2011 even in base has Bluetooth audio so I'm searching for right now.
IMO, the ultimate Avalon is the hybrid. It gets over 40mpg no matter where or how you drive it, but it's still dead solid reliable and incredibly comfortable. It's not fast, but honestly How fast can you actually drive in day to day traffic and commutes? The hybrid comes into it's element in that sort of driving too, it will still get 40+ even if you're sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, which torpedoes the MPG of anything else.

Because they're so well made and also made in Japan!
I love my 2010 Avalon Limited so much. I prefer the pre-facelift version because I love the clean look with the screen off and radio and map controls covered. I use my phone for maps and aux anyway. I definitely recommend getting one with the 6 speed (08-12). 09 was the year where VSC became standard which you definitely want in a car like this. If you absolutely can't live without a backup camera, you can get it on the 2011 model. For me, the parking sensors with blind spot mirrors work well with enough practice. I reverse park into nearly every parking space so getting out is way safer. The Limited is definitely worth it and the cooled seats actually work. I love the rear sunshade as well as the temp controls on the steering wheel. My Avalon is the perfect highway car that still takes regular gas. It's comfortable, quiet, smooth, and gets about 23-26 mpg. It revs super low most of the time (1k-2k RPM) but when you put your foot down to pass or speed up, the torque pulls strongly and it is surprisingly fast for the size and weight. It is definitely worth waiting around for a pristine example. If you do buy one, please replace the two piece lug nuts with the one piece lugs from Japan. The two piece ones from American-made Toyotas/Lexuses can have the outer lug cap swell and warp which makes the wheels difficult to get off in the event of a flat. Save yourself that nightmare by switching to the one piece lugs as soon as possible. It only cost me about $25 for a full set. As long as you keep the transmission fluid fresh, you should have no problem reaching 300k+ mies with basic maintenance. I've seen some in the 400k+ range. Hopefully this advice was helpful to some of you. Have a wonderful day.

7 ай бұрын
@@user-zd3qt5un5t You should definitely drain and refill the transmission fluid. I did that shortly after I bought it even though it was done in 2020. I wanted to make sure everything was fresh. When I drained it, it was a darker color but not fully bad considering we did it early. I definitely would recommend doing it ASAP. I also changed the gasket on the transmission pan. You have to have it lifted but perfectly level, so I recommend driving up ramps and then jacking the back wheels up. Mine is the pre-refresh so I'm not sure if you have to do this but in order to remove some of the bolts on the pan, we had to jack part of the car up an inch or two and then put a socket to fill that gap. I don't remember exactly which part that was but I will edit this comment if I find it. I definitely recommend doing the gasket on top of the drain and fill. For future flushes, you can probably get away without a new gasket. My last car was a Nissan that died from CVT problems so I went the extra mile to make sure I wouldn't be in that position again. Good luck! I hope you enjoy the car.
