The 26 Gallon Kobalt Quiet Tech Compressor. A Long Term Review Of One Of Lowes Larger Compressors.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's been about 2 years since I bought this compressor. This was a major upgrade for me as the one it replaced was a tiny 8 gallon Husky unit that had just enough of a tank to run a impact wrench for 30 seconds before it had to recharge.
This unit is still working great! The has required no repairs and it operates all my automotive air tools without any issues. I got it for one heck of a deal, but at any price it seems to be a good value.

Well that seals the deal. I'm getting the Kobalt. The prices have gone up but it feels like a steal even at $300 for 26-gallons running 4.5SCFM@90psi. Your review hit on all the points I was wondering about. I really appreciate it, thank you.

Milton's HighFlow fittings (the purple ones) breathed new life into my wimpy compressor. Made a huge difference in running my impacts and way cheaper than buying a new compressor. I imagine they'd help any compressor flow more. Might bump that Kobalt up over 5 cfm.

Thank You for the information. Saw the plastic pipe used to hook it into Your system- not the safe thing to do, if (when) it blows there will be plastic shrapnel flying (seen the results as a responder). You do not want to be in the area, safer to use hose designed to handle air pressure.

Hello. I purchased this Kobalt air compressor about a week ago. Glad you like it. It worked impressively helping me blow out my sprinkler system, but that was after I first had an issue. I'm wondering if you have any comments about the following issue. First, of course I let the tank fill and after a few minutes it was filled. Then I turned on my sprinkler Zone 1 and the compressor blew out the remnant water just fine. However, the compressor would not turn on again to refill the tank after it dropped to 50 psi or whatever it was. I kept turning it off and on to no avail. Yes, the ballcock at the bottom was closed. So I then opened the ballcock and let the remaining air out. After I did that, it turned on again to refill the tank. I then went to Zones 2 and 3 and repeated all three zones again with no problem whatsoever. Now, is that something that can be explained or do you think the compressor is defective? Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can throw my way.

I am not sure, some times when the temps are really cold, the unit does not want to pump up. (for us really cold temps are 15 degrees or so) They still should have a 3 year warranty, if you are having issues now, you might swap the unit out for peace of mind

Good review. I’m actually looking at picking this up, however the price has changed quite a bit at $380. I’m probably still grabbing it simply for tank size and other mentioned features. Lot of woodworking/sanding and even with a dust collection system I still blow through a tank rather quickly on clean up between grits etc etc… so smaller compressors are running a lot which in my mind leads to faster wear and tear. Are you still liking it? Having any issues?

For your safety never do repairs to your compressor while it's pressurized and powered. There is three components that can cause your issue when they go bad. Theres an easy start valve, a one way check valve, and the unloader valve. Theres some videos on KZread covering how to diagnose and fix those components, I hope that helps

These are rated to over 300 psi, and I run my air at 90. Every shop I've worked used pvc pipe for air lines and I can't recall but one blowout and that was caused by an object hitting the pipe causing a crack . Rumors of the dangers of PVC pipe in air line use are very much fake news.

It's not that they can't hold the pressure but they are rated for lower pressure. They can also become brittle after time The issue becomes that if they do burst, they're throwing shrapnel. A better choice is pretty much any other pipe or even pex Good luck and be safe.
