Automotive publication Motor Authority recently published some images of a very interesting, never before seen 911 Turbo S variant.
The prototype is clearly a 911 Turbo S but it is slightly different from the rest of the Turbo S prototype fleet: the air intakes for the turbos in the rear quarter fenders are covered up, The car is wearing 911 Sport Classic wheels up front, and most importantly, the prominent rear wing has been replaced by a low drag spoiler.
But how do we know we're looking at something special here, and not just a random prototype or one-off?
If we line up all of the upcoming wingless variants of the 911, the carrera, the GTS, the GT3 Touring and the 911 Turbo S Touring, we can see that the turbo features a completely unique rear spoiler that is different from the others. Porsche even updated the spoiler of the GT3 Touring for 2025, but even that spoiler is different from the one on the Turbo touring. And the fact that Porsche used the resources to design and manufacture a unique rear spoiler not featured on any other 911, tells us that this is a production model we're looking at.
So while this spoiler might be a very small detail, porsche isn't cutting any corners on the new Turbo s Touring.
Now we don't know for sure that Porsche is going to be calling this the Turbo S Touring, but we do know that this isn't the 911 sport classic, as it doesn't have the ducktail spoiler and double bubble roof. The only thing we do know is that this is a more subdued version of the Turbo S, so for the sake of simplicity, we'll refer to it as the Turbo S Touring, until we hear otherwise. So let's just take a look at this thing for a moment... it's pretty bad ass. With the intakes in the rear quarter fenders covered up, the curves on those huge fenders are a lot more prominent, and those sport classic wheels will look great at all 4 corners. And I'm almost wondering if the more aggressive proportions of this car might compliment those active aero shutters a little better than the carrera GTS does.
**front**
Upfront There's still a fair amount of camouflage covering the fascia, but if we look closely we can make out the bulk of the updates. The horizontal shutters have been replaced by the new vertical shutters taken from the GTS hybrid, and the fog lights have been deleted from the lower bumper and incorporated into the headlamp cluster. In Between the two sets of shutters is a redesigned center radiator with an updated radar sensor module mounted in the middle. And at the bottom of the fascia, the new Turbo S now features a much more simple wraparound front splitter. Other than these changes, the front will look mostly the same as the 992.1 turbo.
**rear**
The rear of the car has received a much more significant update. The exhaust system has been redesigned and now features quad exhaust tail pipes which have been relocated farther outboard to accommodate a larger center air vent, which is concealed by bulky plastic moulding. The lower side vents have been deleted, giving the car a cleaner look, and there is a small ridge running along the bottom of each side of the rear fascia. The rear reflectors have also been extended and relocated higher up.
Body parts that carry over from the previous model are - the fenders, doors, hood, roof and windshield. And the new components that will be shared with the 992.2 carrera are the rear light bar, headlamps, and decklid intake,
**motor**
The prototype looks to be a hybrid because of the yellow stickers on the rear window, windshield and dash, which let fire responders know the car contains electric components such as lithium batteries that require special fire retardant chemicals if they catch fire.
It's unknown which naturally aspirated engine will be powering the new Turbo S but it seems reasonable to assume that Porsche will be using their newly developed 9A3 engine.
The 9A3 engine powers the GTS hybrid using a single turbo, and because porsche has electric motors that produce as much as 500HP, they might move away from the twin turbo setup that they've been using for the Turbo S since 1997.
And now the big question, How much horsepower will the new Turbo S have? Since it will most likely be a hybrid, we can look to the new GTS for the answer.

The wider than regular 911 body of the turbo without the wing will make the back end looking insanely wide...and sexy.

I don't know about this touring model but there is no chance porsche will get rid of the turbos for the turbo/s models and neither will ot have less power than the outgoing models. It'll probably have around 700 or so horsepower for the turbo s model and the electric component will be minimal and help it spool up the turbos faster. This is my guess

I guess as long as Porsche continues to have demand for the 911, they can continue to dilute the model even further. I really don’t see the point. They will never release production numbers except on extremely limited production cars so what’s the point in diluting these lines even further with the 27th version of the 992.2. Do they imagine people keep thinking that each one of these will be rare? Unless they pre-announce a production number on a model they will sell as many as people order.

If you’re accurate on the wing regarding the Turbo S then that would be very disappointing‼️‼️‼️‼️ I have a 991.2 911 Turbo S and I have wanted this car since 1973. It took me many years to actually own it. Taking away the wing and making the initial glance at the car appearing as a normal Carrera is not the result/answer that 911 Turbo owners desire. We want the more expensive car to stand out significantly better than the Carrera!!! I mentioned in your last week’s video that I have owned 17 Porsches. Something is drastically wrong with the leadership and decision makers at Porsche. To lower the overall horsepower of the Turbo 911 S is not what we as Turbo owners desire. Don’t care if the new Turbo is faster. It has to be otherwise no right thinking Porsche owner would spend the ridiculous money that we spend on these highly overpriced cars. The new car should definitely have over 650 horsepower just because that is what we desire! Now we will have to wait for the next newer model to own the car that carries more sway at Cars & Coffee. WTF Porsche wake the fuck up!!!! Fix the sporty functions of the car!!! Bring back center console shifter like the GT cars and get rid of center-locking rims!!!! Porsche money scam!!!! I can tell you that many of my Porsche friends at the local PCA chapter are not happy with Porsche owners and the continued rising prices of all Porsches without significant improvements!!! The damn cars are getting too heavy and super expensive!!!! FY Porsche‼️👍👊💪 Thanks for the update video; subscribed.

Owning a car to get more “sway” at a cars and coffee should be what Porsche is about? It’s about horsepower numbers, not actual feel and performance? We call people that believe such things “Poseurs”.

Official lap times will not be done during Touristenfahrten on NOS. Porsche will rent the NOS exclusively and all visitor areas will be closed to the public (hence no video for you). Also don't fall for the lie about the gain they said they achieved (@6:14) as the old time was set by a 991.2 GTS (7'25"), which is the same time the 992.1 S achieved. There is no official lap time for the 992.1 GTS, but it is likely to be around 7'20". Also the 992.2 GTS can only do one lap at this speed and even had cup tires on.

Less HP than the current model simply because it has more torque? Less hp and more weight? You cannot be serious. That'd be hands down the dumbest decision a car manufacturer has made in the last 30 years. So quicker low end acceleration, but a slug/snail at higher speeds? Naaaaah, not even Porsche is that stupid.

If there’s a turbo touring then it’s safe to say it’ll be rear wheel drive, a softer ride (Carrera like) & it will come with a manual from the GT3. If it doesn’t then it wouldn’t make sense. If you ask me, it should also come with either a panoramic sunroof or a convertible since it’s the touring 911 & not the psychopath, supercar killer 911 turbo. Also if Porsche does it this way, now that single turbo hybrid motor makes perfect sense especially with the side air intakes delete.

Several official sources have said a new model of the 911 Turbo S will have the hybrid technology, The hybrid drive in the GTS models, uses a lightweight battery to provide momentary boosts of power to the rear wheels via an electric motor mounted inside the transmission. : An electric motor between the compressor and turbine wheels augments the spinning of the turbocharger to make boost more quickly and improve throttle response. The turbo also generates up to 11 kW for storage using the exhaust gas stream. The T-Hybrid system should work seamlessly, responding only to the driver’s normal throttle and brake inputs Now, will there be an electric motor on the front axle for the more expensive Turbo? Since Porsche isn't talking about that model yet, and the Turbo is AWD while the GTS is rwd...?
