Nice to see a unique, quirky kind of car that goes against the usual suv/crossover norm nowadays. Not the intended demographic for this van but still appreciate that VW renewed a classic to the modern day.

Meh, its kinda a miss for me. It's definitely nice, but I believe they should have orientated the 2nd row differently. You could have still seated 7 or eight, and it would have been a tribute to the original. They replaced what we invented in ancient Egypt the "clerestory lights" that the original vw bus had with a long panaramic sunroof, but adding some of those would have been a nice touch. I also would have prefered the steering wheel to be more like the original, sorta like a real bus. Some may criticize or wonder why I would change these things, but thats an easy answer; originality, which is what the original was. This is just another minivan that's electric. Nothing special or different about it. It follows the same formula as every other van these days. Not so much a vw bus. I also would have given it led circular lights. Now, the biggest drawback - literally no proper storage or trunk space. As a 3row electric vehicle, that is unacceptable. That is the dealbreaker for me. Nonetheless, its a nice vw minivan.

That's propably the only family car I'd be genuinely excited to buy.

the mini van wars was way cooler than the suv/crossover wars imo

I am obsessed and only wish they had the camper functions inside and I would buy immediately

So refreshing to see a vehicle that's completely focused on function over style. So many modern crossovers/suvs have high beltlines that impede visibility and swoopy coupe like back ends that limit cargo and passenger space. This VW Bus is refreshingly practical with it's lower beltline and boxy shape. Perfect vehicle for a large family!

Thoroughly impressed by the function and style of the Buzz. I have always driven square vehicles and vans specifically for the function of cargo and passenger space...I have been waiting for this e-van since it's first concept back in the 2000's...and the wait is well worth it, it will be pricey indeed but most high end vans are pricey. Now just need to create the additional business income streams to pay for it. 🤩

I just told my wife this would be the only minivan I could agree to buy 😂

A $60K Buzz better have 300+ mile range. That’d be a requirement for most, I’d guess. Lots of potential here!

Looks great. Traveled throughout Europe in a VW bus back in the early seventies with the family. Underpowered back then, especially up in the mountains, but still loads of fun.

I'm impressed. The 2nd row and 3rd row legroom is generous.

Time to get rid of my 2004 Sienna and jump in this with my family of 7!

The last Volkswagen van was actually the Routan, however yeah it was basically just a Dodge Caravan with VW styling. Saw a Routan the other day lol.

Looks cool but I’m shocked at the lack of a camper model at launch. Worried about that white steering wheel looking gross after a few months. Rear windows look useless to me. Reminds me of the third row windows on old mini vans that only vent. Sad that we don’t get the airline tables.

Finally we have a fully electric van here in the U.S. although it only has two hundred something miles, but understandable because of the pricing. I will definitely get one when it comes out.

Thanks for the review. I am not a fan of minivans but for some odd reason, the buzz bus look is appealing! Space is always an issue with three row SUVs and minivans are "uncool" but somehow, the buzz just makes carrying people cool! We are still over a year away from launch but I will definitely be keeping an eye out.

Do you think the secret sauce would be in rotating front seats and no back seats? Think middle row deleted with rear and front seats as useable space.

I’m pleasantly surprised at how good the long wheelbase version looks. It sounds like they won’t be offering multiple two-tone interior colors like the Euro version.

Really want this car. Hope we can hold out till it’s available and the price isn’t too eye watering after the inevitable dealership markup and price hiking (I assume they’ll be in high demand and only high end trims will be easily available).

good for having light colored upholstery, but black carpet...all carpets should be dark unless you enjoy cleaning it very often

Like the ID buzz. Surprised they didn't put a fold down cup holder arm rest in second row. Also that the second row doesn't come out. Will they offer the two tone seats?

Been looking forward to a USA ID Buzz since 2017. Now the only thing missing is an affordable California Buzz. Fingers crossed.

Wow. So much space. The third row should slide (like the sequoia)…if it did, you could fit 7 people and all their luggage.

I do wish they'd bring the short-wheelbase version with only 2 rows of seats, but I guess that's what the ID.4 is for here in the States.

It has not been over 20 years since VW made a van! I am sitting in a 2010 VW Routan right now. It was made in a dodge caravan factory but it’s still made by VW as they owned Chrysler at the time and we’re making the Grand Caravan, Town and Country as well as Routan.

Some of the figures probably should be given at the full unveiling where executives will come on stage and talk about the vehicle.

My favorite color is blue but i really like how the green one looks. Hopefully I'll be able to get one eventually. I don't think I'll get a brand new one, probably a used one

They should add a rearview mirror camera to make life easier.

When I was a kid and we traveled to Mexico for vacation we didn't have a car over there so we used the combi, looked like this, it was the bus they used over there

Based on the 56% of range left with 161 miles estimated the Buzz should have about 288 miles of range. I hope it will have one pedal drive as that was a big miss on the id4.

Hi! Just saw you at the airport… I work for United, I tried to say Hi but another customer was taking to me… good review on the van, can’t wait for the id 2.

Love what Volkswagen has done with this but the dealer markups on this are going to be insane. Puts a damper on the enthusiasm for me.

I worry about that glass at the top. We get a lot of hail where we live. Is there going to be an option to not have that?

Excellent report, as usual. I have a Beetle convert and would love and ID BUzz. That interior color combo is gross! Be cool if they matched the exterior color.

Hoping I can get one of these.. in 2030 for a used off lease that hopefully will be affordable for average Joes who still want to be able to afford to take vacations.

Where will the battery and the complete vehicle be assembled in? I believe both in Chattanooga, TN which could qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit. I will also say that pricing is super important to make this van attractive alternative to current minivans available now and for 2024.

Can’t wait to get one.

Thank you! Finally a good electric passenger van and review. I’m looking into this car. I can turn it into a camper for road-trips or use it as a daily. SUVs are overrated IMO but I want space for my dog’s crate and my stuff. And I prefer sliding doors that give easy access. In Japan, vans are cool but not so much in America. Hopefully, this van will change that!

Your road trip would quickly become a charging trip. No way you’re enjoying this car for long drives. With the projected range, daily commutes are more reasonable.

​@Jason road trips are not Cannonball runs for most people, especially families with kids that appreciate rest stops every few hours. Charging can easily be done while stopping for a coffee, meal or washroom break.

@@jamespaul2587 and how often are you thinking you’ll charge? And how quickly? We’re not even talking Tesla infrastructure. I’ve owned a model Y and a 2:30 hour trip quickly added on another hour for charging.

@@JayLokifast charging every 2 to 3 hours for a half hour to 80% is not unreasonable for many, especially families with young kids that can use a break

I am interested and willing to buy to replace our current KIA Sedona minivan. Just need to know price / EV credits / warranty, etc. It would be great if this could also be charged at Tesla Supercharger locations for interstate driving.

Stopping every few hours for charging along with breaks for meals, coffee and washrooms makes cross country drives safer and more enjoyable. It's a drive, not a Cannonball Run 😊

Almost non-existent front crumple zone. I would be a bit anxious driving that thing.

lots of cool stuff, but the back storage with the seats up looks lacking compared to pretty much every minivan on the market. Which is too bad. With 5 kids we need space behind that third row and at least on video it doesn't appear this would cut it. Super cool van though. Range will be an issue for a lot of buyers too, but maybe the AWD version will have a longer range if it's dual motor.

They need to focus on making the perfect #vanlife automobile. It should have a sink and bed with electrical outlets and a large solar cell roof so you can drive it to a campsite and park it for a few days while it charges before you head out to your next destination.

It actually seems like a pretty good Van. Range needs to be 300 miles since it’ll drop to 220 in the cold months anyways

very glad you can get monochromatic colors, not a fan of 2 tone. Seems like a fantastic family car, we will strongly consider this. Soon the wife's Mk7 golf wagen will be too small and we will be in the market for a van. 250-300 mile range should be plenty.

I would love to see this in a gas engine option for those of us who are not ready for EVs

Agreed they should be designed to be removed, there might be a way to remove them however

I'll wait for a full fledged camper version.
