The 2023 Nissan Altima SR Turbo Is A Sporty Family Sedan With A Bad Reputation
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The #NissanAltima has always been a solid Japanese alternative to the well-known Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Sadly for #Nissan, the #Altima has had its reputation faltered thanks to a certain Facebook group called #BigAltimaEnergy where it shows photos and videos of Altima drivers doing very naughty things on the roads. It’s a shame because the latest #AltimaSR with the turbo engine is actually a really good car for buyers looking for a sporty family sedan with tons of power.

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you are having a great start to your holiday weekend! Even though the Altima gets so much hate for its reputation, it is still a great driving and very appealing midsize family sedan. Would BAE stop you from buying one of these?

If Nissan is so bad as you all claim it to be, why haven’t they declared bankruptcy or went out of business long time ago? They are doing very well financially under new management and no longer under Renault partnership. That should tell you something. Nissan is right up there with Toyota and Honda when it comes to reliability and I could careless what you all think. I drive a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 272,000 miles on the original CVT and never had an issue with it. I’m going to continue driving it til the wheels fall off. When I visited the U.S. back in December 2022, I rented a pre-facelift Nissan Altima SR. I genuinely loved it for how nicely designed it was inside and out. It was comfortable, peppy and had a good range of features. The only downside was the CVT, which really showed how awful it was under load. Other than that, it was a close to perfect car to me which is strange as I am someone who loves and daily's a full-size RWD V6 with a proper automatic plus has a midsized AWD manual turbo sedan for the weekend fun.

Big Altima Energy….. coming to a city near you. 😬
Love your reviews as always. Just picked up a 2024 Altima SR 2.5 FWD in gray sky pearl. Enjoy most everything about it: Full LED front headlights... aggressive styling.. great MPG around town and commuting.... Although .. . the seats are nowhere near as comfy as my 20*13* Altima 3.5 SL...... the lack of homelink/dimming mirror drives me insane. The backup cam looks as if it copy pasted from my 2013 which is a shame.
The real reason it has a bad rep is that CVT! If Nissan gave up on those or contracted with Aisin to manufacture them, the Altima would be a viable competitor. At this point the only Nissan worth buying is one with a manual transmission or the new Pathfinder with the 8 speed auto.
I rather work a little extra and get myself a Camry Le hybrid 😅

The Altima has some good attributes as does all of its peer group, the big problem comes down to three letters CVT, specifically the one Nissan uses. My wife had a 2011 Rogue. At around 20k miles the transmission started making worst noises than it usually did. The transmission was replaced under warranty. The second transmission started making the same horrible noises in only a few months of installation. It got replaced with a new unit again. The second replacement lasted until 2020. It started making grinding noises, so we sold the car to Carvana for $9k. My wife bought a Toyota Venza. It's a huge step up for her and the CVT on the Toyota is whisper quiet. The whole Altima reputation is news to me; I live and drive in the midwest everyday and Altimas for one are not that common here and those that drive them are usually pretty chill. There's no shortage of aggressive or dumb drivers around here but most often they're driving pickup trucks, big SUVs, newer muscle & pony cars, Kia & Chrysler sedans and of course BMWs. Nissan drivers in general are pretty normal in their ways, especially those driving newer models. I guess it depends a lot on the region.

My last car was Altima 2013. Now I changed to Subaru Outback. I didn't miss that much about Altima even though they claimed 10 years ago the seat was designed based on NASA, I still feel tired after a few hours drive but I didn't feel that way with Subaru. I used to be a huge Altima fan and I thought I would be loyal Nissan customer forever.. until I got an car accident and my car was total loss while the other car was fine. The Altima has thin skin and got easily damaged with a mild hit. And... hopefully the new Altima has no such issue as my 2013 Altima got recall alert almost every year for the potential issue.
Nissan, Honda, Kia etc. If your trying to convince me on a sedan, AWD better come standard. Nice review

I still have a 2011 Altima with the original CVT. Just here to see how much has changed. I don’t even have bluetooth in my 2011 lol
Good enough for 3 year lease , works for me
Style-wise, it is what the current Elantra should have been.
The cheaper Altimas SV and below have dual exhaust but they are tucked under the bumper hidden. The SL has memory seats.I like them. I owed one years ago and loved to travel in it. It served its purpose for me to travel for work and vacations and it was reliable.. mainly cause i had it at dealer for any scheduled maintenance it needed. Put 100,000 on it and it was a 2017 SL
The CVT ruined the Altima reputation not BAE
Still my dream car for me to buy one dude.
Honestly if Nissan just ditches the CVT, uses a ZF transmission, better tuned of course. and on sport models offer a DCT. offers a Hybrid and a EV , offers a newer but a SR series motor like a nissan Silvia it, and AWD. There's alot of potential for so much more altimas are super comfortable, needs some Ariya in the Interior. At least 5 trims should be offered
Big altima energy 😂
why is there no rear spoiler? every SR and Turbo models come with a rear spoiler, there's not even an option to choose it or not, it just comes with one. i think i saw another test car SR turbo other day on YT with no rear spoiler. what's the deal with that?
In general Cvt is not terrible because it is not like regular auto transmission. Hence, it is gas friendly. I know toyota has mastered the tools and perfecting the design of CVT over the years. However, i heard many people depend on how they drive the car like Nissan altima…they havent had issues in their experience.
Those JATCO CVT used in them have reasons to have Bad Reputations.

I have certainly witnessed many big altima energy drivers out there. I've always wondered what about these cars made these people drive like complete AHoles. I rented one and besides the fact that it has a V6 and a little more power than the average car on the road there was no sporty factor to it that made me want to drive it like a jerk. It was how ever a really good highway car and concealed it's speed from the driver well so maybe that's the cause? They don't realize how fast they are driving. Or more likely they do but since the car feels so complacent at highway speeds they feel like they can continue pushing the envelope?
