Rented an Altima on my honeymoon and road tripped that mf. 38mpg average, driving through the Appalachians and weaving through traffic as if the car was an extension of my body. The main thing I appreciate about this car in 2023 is that you can actually go to a dealership and just buy one, no waiting list or anything. There are even multiple colors and trims on the lot to compare and maybe even test drive, and on Nissan dealers' websites they have actual prices, not "Contact Dealer for Price." I know I'm in the minority, but if they sold a mid trim NA with a 6 speed manual, I'd buy it. There are no more mid sized cars offering manuals anymore.

Vw still offers manuals in the Jetta, S and Sport trims, along with the GLI (if you want the 'sporty' one). But they're basically the only brand I can think of thats still holding on to the manual. But the next generation of their cars is all electric so the nails are already in the coffin 😅

The Nissan Altima are made in Mississippi. I see these everyday here at the manufacturing plant. Tenn will start making these again in the coming years while we will be making the electric cars here.

Hands down best car review channel on the tube ❤
Lol @ final thoughts. Love it!
Yes to your point I have never had much trouble with Nissan engines however I've always been very wary of their transmissions. You would think they would have developed more reliable robust transmissions with all the experience they have of how not to do it
The Altima gets more flak than it deserves especially this generation. The ride quality is smooth and the overall styling and features are great for the price.
Just here in support of the channel, but the comments are hilarious today.

not sure about the rest of the country, but around here if you see an Altima near you on the street/highway, you back off and try to go the other way. Something bad's about to happen. Typically on one donut-spare, and going 15mph faster than flow of traffic (& weaving).

This is a surprisingly positive review.
The SR trim adds the different springs and thicker rear sway bar from a Maxima to make a decent Accord like handling package so scour your junkyards for maximas for a budget upgrade. I like my SRs handling for a fwd coming from 6spd RX8
Thank you for reviewing more common commuter vehicles like this. My current commuter car is a 2013 Audi A6 Quattro. I drove a 2021 Altima SR rental last year and I was very impressed. Kids and I especially liked the seats. I thought the CVT was fine driving normally, I hope it lasts over 200k though. This is on my short list when I want a newer commuter car, although I'll most likely avoid the VC engine due to possible future repair headaches. I say the 2.5 AWD SR is the sweet spot, and I'm glad Nissan is striving to fill the value niche instead of more expensive offerings from Honda and Mazda as mentioned in the video.

I traded my 2016 Altima in for a 2016 Audi A6 a year ago but I have no doubt I would have got 200k on the Altima. Maintenance is key on the CVT's, heat is the #1 killer of them. Fluid starts to break down and causes all kinds of issues. Buy an after market oil cooler and change the CVT fluid every 30k and it will last. I drove mine from OH to VA every couple months and it did great. Personally I was changing my CVT fluid once/yr but I am OCD and drive 20k+ a year. Great transmissions if you take care of them and don't drive them beyond their intended use.

@@TheAnarchy1970 is the CVT fluid change part of Nissan recommended preventive maintenance? or did you take it somewhere else to do?
@TheAnarchy1970

@@adamgrier6918 Nissan doesn't recommend fluid changes except in extreme driving conditions, if I remember correctly. I always did my own fluid changes and there are some very good how-to's on YT. Just make sure you follow and don't overfill.
Jokes aside I really like the direction Nissan’s going overall. It’s a fun car for non car people at an affordable price…I’d still get a versa with a manual over this though I bet that’s fun to beat the shit out of lol.
At work, we leased 6 2019 Altimas to replace our aging increasingly unreliable Taurus(s,ii?) In the last few years there have been almost no problems, just oil changes and batteries. The seats are decent( these are rental spec models), the phones sync up just fine. Frankly they are quite efficient, reliable people haulers. Not sporty or "engaging" it be sure, but capable.
Gotta love the name of that Spotify playlist there

It looks like they don't include the auto dim interior mirror which also has the homelink garage door opener. Nice mirror, and the homelink works well on my altima sl.
