The 2023 Kia EV6 GT Is A Sinfully Quick EV From An Unexpected Brand

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The #KiaEV6 has been a very impressive new EV from Kia when it was first introduced at the beginning of 2022. For 2023, Kia is expanding the #EV6 family with the insanely quick #EV6GT. It ramps up the electric motors to the tune of 576 HP and allows this crossover to rocket to 60 MPH in 3.4 secs, according to #Kia. This makes the #KiaEV6GT the most powerful and quickest accelerating Kia ever and it also happens to be a bargain in its segment.

I do believe Kia recommends a 90 percent charge for everyday use versus 80 percent max charge for most competitors which means the range is actually closer than we imagine and remember the fast charging of the ev six means it’s easy to recharge in 10 minutes if you are at 30 percent and then recharging. That’s almost like a gas station for ice vehicles

I just don't think I'm ready for an all-electric vehicle quite yet. Also, this looks so much cooler than the Tesla's, and for a much better value. Well done, Kia! Well done, indeed!

Think twice dont get scammed china already canceled EVs "suburban neighborhoods worldwide could be plugging in daily to recharge. Most electrical distribution networks are simply not ready to provide the additional load - especially during peak evening hours when many EV owners are likely to first plug in to recharge their cars. Currently, drivers in the United States log some three trillion miles annually in their automobiles. While currently less than two percent of the vehicles are electric, what happens when that number increases? One study estimated that if all the cars in Texas today were EVs, the state might need as much as 30 percent more power; California would need 50 percent more. Nationwide, we calculate that the conversion of all internal combustion engines to electric vehicles could add as much as 45 percent to electricity demand. Admittedly, the US Energy Information Administration estimates seven out of 10 cars will still have internal combustion engines by 2050. Even so, the grid will no doubt feel increasing pressures if sales of electric vehicles accelerate as predicted."

Great review, as usual. One thing: The forward-looking camera shots (which I think are important) are terrible. We can't get a driver's or passenger's view of the road, just part of the headliner and the rearview mirror. I wish you could find a better mounting place than the sunroof ... like maybe the windshield? Or hang the camera from a selfie stick or something.

An awesome vehicle but the range is a bit of a deal breaker. 206 miles of range with a brand new battery charged to full. That quickly reduces with: 1. Battery degradation 2. Less than full charge 3. Low temperatures 4. Vigorous driving 5. Long standby drain 6. Use of heater and AC. I think this is strictly an EV for low distance, local driving only. It will be like using a smartphone constantly. You'll be recharging very frequently. I'll keep my GT Stinger.

A couple things. Seats- unless you have multiple people driving this car, power seats are not something you use on a regular basis. Really- set them up and go. The cars stereo is actually 14 speakers, but most state the same, not very good. Adaptive suspension- awesome. The downsides stated aren’t enough to keep me away- I put my dp down in June for a hopeful Q1 arrival in Canada. Perfect timing given the summer only tires.

This car is a BLAST to drive! So much fun and good looks too. I don't know why KIA keeps calling this an SUV, because it's not. To me it's a wagon. The narrator calls it a large hot hatch, which I can also agree with. The same goes with the Ionic 5. These cars are an excellent way into the EV class, however a bit expensive if you want the full powered models. The sticker for the EV6 GT is $65k USD.

The EV6 GT looks great, but for the price automatic front seats and the fact that majority of interior has plastic paneling seems like a devaluation, I am assuming the heating and air elements provided for front seats was also removed. I certainly hope KIA resolved the water channeling problem with the rear hatchback going into the interior of hatch because this is not implemented with any waterproofing elements to avoid electrical shorts if leaks occur. I see some shortsightedness in this design, which means no additional improvements on the interior have been made in comparison to the 2022 EV6. I understand that the EV6 GT was delayed, but I expected more improvements for the price, not less. For GT I would’ve liked to see some carbon fiber paneling on the interior which would give it more of a sporty look. Besides the engine/battery extension and lack of automatic seats for DRIVER, I do not see this as an IDEAL BARGAIN PRICE for what you get. KIA, just some American advice, IF YOU DECIDE TO GO GT, then there must be more comfort, convenience, with a more sporty interior then just giving racing seats. Perhaps utilize floating/racing seats that allow for more flexibility and comfort for the driver. Perhaps look at the NEW FORD MUSTANG GT and NEW CORVETTE INTERIOR DESIGN and make comparisons and you will see what AMERICANS really want in a GT!! Why not make a SEDAN GT version of this vehicle with a wider body and extended hatchback with more luxuries that equal the Audi A6, with a bigger frunk and more AC charging points especially in the interior rear hatchback. I would also highly recommend FOG lights, many American sports vehicles in USA provide FOG light bulbs on the front in the MUSTANG. If your going GT, then provide Michelin All-Terrain tires because with more power requires even TOP OF THE LINE sport tires. I also recommend placing an additional rear camera on the wing of the hatchback along with providing a rear license plate that provides rear object sensor detection considering that object detection sensors sometimes do not manage to function properly when dirt/snow accumulate on the rear/front bumpers. I would also like to see a panoramic sunroof with a solar panel cover option with a 5G antenna integrated into the solar panel itself, thus eliminating the antenna shark. I hope you make improvements with the REGEN braking system because WIND edition REGEN braking sucks ass. ALSO, if providing sport SEATS, then apply a 4-point buckling system for the front seats. I expect in next EV6 GT to provide an automated rear spoiler that activates AUTOMATICALLY after going over 65-75MPH. This model must have a better, more catchy memorable name, like the Neptune GT or Jupiter GT, or perhaps one of the Jupiter moons like Europa or IO, for example. BUILDING KIA’s in the USA, especially the EV6 GT would be ideal to obtain government rebate…make it happen so these models are less expensive and easily available to Americans/Canadians, centralizing your manufacturing would make it tough for even American automakers to compete guaranteed! NOT A BIGGER BATTERY is required, what is needed MOST is an enhanced POLYCRYSTALLINE SOLAR PANEL that can charge 60-90% more efficiently than any other solar panel ever made in history. In additions, more enhanced technology in the REGEN breaking is definitely needed to make the range more applicable for the average American automobile in the same market. Thus NEW INNOVATIONS in solar panels, and an integrated 5G antenna specifically for these automobiles can help avoid any issues of having to charge this car every week or increasing battery capacity/weight to vehicle.

OK so I got to test drive one of these and was surprised how well I liked most everything about it. I expected the ride to be harsh but I found it very comfortable and even in GT mode was not a problem. It rode so much better than Tesla and even more so the Polestar 2 with its adaptive suspension. What was almost as surprising is the power even in GT mode did not feel unwieldy but rather quite manageable. Not too much but just right to be good fast car. A lot of EV's leave something to be desired at higher speeds but not this one. I even parked the thing back in the lot in GT mode just to see how it did - no problem. Now the only thing I would have to work on are the seats. I found the extra side bolstering to be a little annoying and I am skinny, and as this reviewer suggested the seat could have less of an angle for everyday driving. This is something that can be addressed after purchase by auto specialists so it won't stop me from getting one of these. What a surprisingly great driving vehicle whatever you want to call it. Yes I know the range.

Can you confirm if the GT does have HDA2 (Highway driving assist) vs the GT-Line/Wind. That was also another difference that I saw on the charts on KIA's website that this one is more hands on driving on the highway vs the others that are totally hands free. Thank you!

@@fakedazzleful Who is driving haphazardly on the high way? I like to cruise, especially with the family in the car, and with HDA2 you can do that. Just sit back and chill and the car drives itself. And when I want to have fun with the car, it's mostly on local roads any way. Highways once you hit your top speed, not much else to do.

Cool car but the seats are going to be a deal breaker for my wife and I. This isn't going to be bought as a track car so the 8-way with memory hopefully will be an option next year. I suspect the Ionic 5 N will be optioned with the power memory seats so that may be the way to go. Great review.

I agree. For spending that kind of money, stuff like that and the range are kinda a deal breaker for me. The GT-Line AWD is the sweet spot. 👍

If only they made this car with the 3.3tt or 3.5tt found in their engine lineup 🤤. Obviously that's contrary to the point of an EV, and the architecture is specific to electric vehicles, but still...

The power sounds interesting. I have a Ford MME GT Performance, and it would be cool to drive something with that much more power. That said, the range on this vehicle is a joke. 206 on a full charge... and that is with the best conditions like weather and driving in eco mode which gives you a lot less power. I think the cons outweigh the pros on this one. Hey mate, what did you trade your mach E in for?

Someone has done a review where they drive the GT-line over a set course at a set speed, and then drove the GT exactly the same, and guess what? The battery remaining for both cars was pretty identical. No point in the 'industry standard' figures when they don't assume everyone's driving the same....

"Car will be very very slow in Eco mode with 286 hp " Ha that is already as much as my Hyudai Santa Cruz has and it does not feel that slow. 429 hp would be plenty for me in standard mode so you would not have to push that little boost button except for doing an occasional trick.I wasn't clear what the range would be without using this GT mode ? Also I am not sure any EV will qualify for the $7500 tax break in 2023 as it is split between where the car is manufactured and where the battery materials come from. I am betting the Mustang for example will only qualify for $3750. NIce fun review thanks.
