The 2023 Genesis G80 Electrified Is A Very Good Low-Key Electric Luxury Sedan
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The #GenesisG80 was the first vehicle to wear the Genesis badge and while the gas models were redesigned in 2021, for 2023 the #G80Electrified is the first all-electric version of the #G80 family. It uses the same 800 Volt quick charging system as the #GenesisGV60, however with a larger battery pack and more torque than it’s gas siblings, the #GenesisG80Electrified is an enticing options that is a bargained priced electric luxury sedan for those of you looking for that.

Happy Monday everyone! Just wanted to let you know, Genesis has announced final pricing for this car, it starts at $80,920 including destination. The car in the video had just one option, the $1500 matte white paint finish. Sadly, it no longer qualifies for the $7,500 federal tax credit due to being produced in Korea and having an MSRP over the $55,000 cap. This now makes this car about $8,000 more than the 3.5T V6. Would you guys still go for the electrified version over the gas V6?
@Shredstone93
Жыл бұрын
I would personally would still get the EV version. I can charge at home which is cheaper than gas and less maintenance(no oil changes, transmission services, brakes last longer, etc). I hope Genesis makes an electric GV70/80 soon though!

@@Shredstone93 but your electric bill will go up from daily charges and most standard outlets will mean a very slow charge not to mention the cost if you go installing a super charger in your garage...it quickly loses its advantages

@@truckercowboyed2638 Yes your electric bill will go up. However it will go up less than the amount you would have spent on gas for it's equivalent gasoline variant. As for charging that depends completely on how much you drive. For many people who have short commutes, 110v charging is fine. Even if you need to get a 220v outlet installed, it is not cost prohibitive, especially if you can afford an $80k car.

An EV that has an interior not trying to mimic a spaceship. Well done Genesis!
The exterior design of the Genesis G80 is absolutely stunning.
I'm loving what Genesis is putting inside their EVs, looks way nicer than most EVs I've seen from other companies. I hope they can keep that up for years to come and not just throw a big-ass tablet in there for everything.

Hey Sofyan, thanks for the awesome review! I watch and enjoy all your videos. You are a true automotive journalist. I am a former G80 Sport 3.3t owner, which was an outstanding car. Currently driving a Tesla Model Y, but I would go back to the G80 electric in a heartbeat once it becomes available in Florida. Hopefully soon.

I recommend you to check out GV70 electrified. I personally think it's better than G80 electrified because it has more headroom. The headroom of G80 electrified is less roomier than gas powered G80 because it has batteries underneath the car.

This looks to be the second best overall luxury EV after the Lucid Air. So nice. The Model S may beat it in range but the G80 smokes it in luxury for about $30k less!
One of the most beautiful cars on the road.
For a luxury sedan EV , I would pick this over the BMW i4.
Love how quickly you review the latest releases.
I have watch many videos on this car and I still learned some stuff. Excellent, much appreciated!
Great review Soyfeon! Cant wait to see your in depth review of the 2023 Genesis G90!!!😍
I wish more car companies would do this to their ev line ups
If I actually ever had the money for a car of this price range, I'd certainly consider this car. The only thing I didn't see is whether it has a digital number speedometer or just the "analog" look. But I like the power and that it is comfortable and quite. For me, that is a trifecta of goodness!

I like the battery temp gauge on the left. When you first started you were about 1/3, at the end about 4/5 up the gauge. Nice to show from DC charging did warm up the battery, hence why you were getting better rates later.
Great video. Putting this one on my shortlist.
Never seen you have so much fun which is awesome!

Here in the UK Genesis is a new brand, I have had my new Electrified G80 for about a month, and it's has the Solar roof option. At 6' 3" tall I can't say that headroom is an issue, so not sure what Genesis USA is talking about. Over here specs and options are obviously different, but my car which is fully optioned apart from the 'Executive pack' at GBP 3,050.00 (comprising rear screens heated rear seats soft close doors and the blinds) and it retails for GBP 77,450.00, inclusive of UK sales tax @ 20%. Over here that tax is called VAT or value added tax and applies to everything and is automatically added to the price of all goods and services. So at current exchange rates something in excess of USD 90,000.00. It will be interesting to see what the price in the States will be, but in the UK and Europe in full optioned form it undercuts the equivalent Mercedes EQE by about GBP12,000! I agree with your comments on refinement, and for me it offers a level of luxury and style that make it more like a cut-price Bentley. Also and in conclusion, as there are so few on the road here (Genesis told me I was the first customer to take delivery of a E G80 outside of the Far East), it attracts a lot of positive attention!

I can't wait for their coupes either! They will be GTxx so GT70, GT80, and GT90. Those names have already been trademarked. They all will more than likely be fully electric.
Nice. Looks good. This car would probably look great as a gt coupé
That thing is GORGEOUS!
I drove Tesla Model S, Y, and 3. I had the opportunity to ride Ford Mustand EV, Nissan Ariya, and VW ID4. All EVs are performance-oriented rides, whether SUV, Coup or Sedan. The G80 EV sedan has a soft, cushioned, comfy, classic luxury, and silky ride. I had a test ride. And it is very silent inside the cabin compared to other EVs, even speed of 65 mph. That's what EV should be. I'm not too fond of computer-produced EV sounds that other brands offer. I cannot afford Rolls Royce or Mercedes-Maybach sedans. But with the price of $80K, I would love to drive a G80 EV for the everyday ride. Thank you, Hyundai/Genesis. Well done! PS: Colorful Ambient lights inside would be lovely... I hope you will add them.

Sofyan I cannot wait for your review of the Mighty 2023 Genesis G90!!🔥
Why cant more automakers make electric cars that just blend in with everything on the road to the point where you can’t even tell it is electric? Not everything has to be concepty and futuristic looking. Just make it look normal, more people would buy them. Great job Genesis!
No sunroof is just unacceptable. Everything else is fantastic but at that price point, they should have somehow improvised to give a panoramic or just a standard one at least
Sofyan so what you are saying is Genesis is killing it yet again. I absolutely love this company. I own a G70 3.3tt sport and absolutely love to drive it. If I was an SUV guy I would be an owner of a GV70 sport trim of course.
I love that they still use buttons. Everyone else is doing the haptic volume buttons (Volkswagen) which everyone hates.
Great review; The only problem with this car is that the plateform is based on a gasoline which takes away some of the space; front trunk (drunk) space and rear passenger space. I prefer a vehicle that has been build on an electric plateform but do not get me wrong, this car is a great car. Until then I will be waiting for the GV90.
Nice review. Genesis is killing it. Bought a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige last November, love it, the electrified GV70 is next from Genesis, tempting..............G80 a little too big for my tastes.
looks beautiful and a decent price for EVs. Theyre only taking orders in like 5-7 states rn
Genesis makes a great car. My wife has a 2019 G80 Sport. We love it. Unfortunately non-Tesla EV owners have to rely on a horribly unreliable charging network. I would only consider a non-Tesla EV when the non-Tesla charging infrastructure improves significantly. I have a Model Y, which I love and have never had issues with charging. That said, Tesla could learn some lessons on luxury from Genesis in terms of fit, finish, ride quality and noise reduction, particularly with models 3 and Y.
My 2022 Acura MDX I got in April of 2021 has the wireless carplay which is one of the main features I was looking for. Hopefully Genesis will have it in future models.
As USUAL>>>AWESOME, AWESOME VIDEO!!! 🙂 I may have missed it but you never mentioned WHAT 4 states it is offered in?? Ed
Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!
I love that this G80 took a standard car and electrified it. I'm a sample of 1, but don't think every EV needs to be super futuristic looking. I was so excited to see the Merc EQS SUV but am so disappointed with what they produced. I hoped their new suv would've been basically what Merc did with their EQC- take the GLS and electrify it. A lot of EVs won't age well, and Tesla is starting to look dated IMO. Make a good looking car and, electrifying it, might be a smart recipe for success
Man! Sofyan was having FUN! I envy his job. 😂
What a handsome & gem of a car. I love how there are no EV markings. But in my state we get special EV plates so I guess that would give it away.
how i wish this car had a range of >400 miles. it would be great to fly under the radar with this.
Hey Sofiyan - what’s the weird distortion from the camera on the left side of your shoulder , guess the one mounted on the side window, makes the steering wheel look funny.
Such a Beautiful vehicle
Hi Sofyan, I'm on a waiting list for the exact car you have in your video. Uyuni white exterior with dark lagoon green interior. I was wondering if the interior is really green. I'm hoping not. Is it you impression in seeing it in real life it is a true green color or hopefully more bluish turqouise like?
I LOVE this EV sedan. The deal breaker may be the fact that you don’t get the tax credit and why I may look to Acura or Lexus EV SUV’s but aside from that, a beautiful car.

Genesis is Magic !!! 🌹
Good job
I don't like how these stations charge by the minute. It costs 3x more for EVs that only accept max 50KW. If they want, they can artificially lower the KW charging rate to charge more minutes.
I will be moving away from many years of leasing the Lexus ES Ultra Luxury models (current 2021 model lease will end in February), and moving 'up' to the 2024 g80 EV (Uyuni White with Brown interior). I have zero complaints about my Lexus cars, but now, Lexus has taken away the ability to control the navigation screen with a console control. I do not personally wish to be restricted to touch screen only, and the ES models are not EVs. I must say I am looking forward to the switch!!

The electric motors by hyundai have been praised by wards best engines. So definitely better than the gasoline engines. Exactly I said that about charging your car in shady neighborhood's for example I live in Philadelphia I feel like the whole dam city is shady they are car jacking people at gas stations all the time in Philly and it only takes about 5 minutes to fill your car with gas now imagine sitting at a charging station for 22 to 30 minutes you are literally a sitting duck that can be a recipe for disaster
They may need to come out with a higher "horsepower" model. People like their electric cars really fast...The fact that you can't Bluetooth your phone to the radio seems really bizarre. Never heard if that on a new luxury car. My new GM Sierra even has it...my Denali from 2015 had it even.
Can you imagine if they had use the bigger motors from Kia ev6 gt with 577 hp it would have been crazy fast
Do you know if Genesis/Hyundai/KIA is looking to bring manufacturing to the US?
Wow, go Genesis! Definitely will consider a used model of this car 3-5 depreciated years from now…
This is legitimately an amazing car. I cant believe how many people are sleeping on this car.
Way better than Tesla: more luxurious more practical and much bigger inside. And absolute plus is normal door hands. This is the first EV sedan I would buy and the new Mercedes EV also. What is real miles range?
How long is the (range) on one charge, how many kilometers?.
Hyundai/Kia?Geneis are just being very smart at their releases of cars in America. They really get the market and understand what people want and dont want and at a good price
The Charging Port position might look cool on the Front but any Fender Bender Crash is gonna Destroyed the Charging Port and the Car might be easily written as a Right Off
Very nice. My neighbor has a Tesla that he charges in his garage (so he always has a full tank) and he claims that his electric bill went up by $32.00 per month, and he drives 55 miles per day round trip to work. He was paying $75 per week in gas. Sounds great to me! And he has the fastest production car ever made.
Front Grill is so nice … being from NY you have to have front license plate kills the clean look..
At that price, I expect a panoramic moonroof!
G80 i love it

Looks fire!!!! However with the recent news Hyundai /Kia are really so questionable now!! SMH
This is the problem I have with these charging stations they don’t always work and that could be a real problem . The available working charging stations and price keeps a lot of people away from EV vehicles .
Wow I didn't even know this was being produced. Even on their website it was hard to find. What an amazing vehicle this will be. I had a Genesis 5.0 and it was nice. They got rid of the 5.0 for a run of the mill turbo, so having an electric version makes it appealing again.
I can’t believe car companies still can’t make CarPlay standard with all models in 2022 🤪
Thank you !
This is the one that gets my hard earned cash!
this car is awesome!
Genesis, add a sunroof and you got yourself a deal. Heated rear seats is a nice to have for the price range but not a deal breaker.
If I see a g70 electric hit the market I’m risking it all
Well!! I thought paying a lot extra for EV will save people money to compensate for that extra cost. Apparently, they still have to pay anyway for every time they charge like after approximately 300 miles.
Thats a hot ass car. yall can hate all you want.
If all people are going to do is drive local, taking Uber could be cheaper than an electric Genisis. And they get a chauffeur. Also, they can apply the savings to investments.
Nice looking car though that lower side trim reminds me of the Honda Accord. 🤔
I know nothing about electric cars, but is there a service period for this car, just say every year or every two years?
Look so beautiful!!
you said if I'm right, it has no spare tyre, so what happens if you get a flat tyre?
So how many gas powered cars can you fill up in that time frame?
