For me, this Carnival wins for minivans due to looks. Pacifica wins overall because of AWD. KIA AWD this bad boy, and it would be my clear winner.

The look reminds me of the Ford Flex, but more beautiful.

Words that I've been hearing a lot lately from every-day folks, car reviewers and myself. (THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE CAR FROM KIA IN THIS SEGMENT) I absolutely agree. I've test driven some late model Kia's recently and everytime I walk away shocked, surprised, wowed and just more excited about driving a Kia vs other mainstream brands. There not perfect and there is some cost cutting in there somewhere but it seems to be in the right places if it's gonna be done. There is something about Kia's as of late where they just seem to be capturing all the right emotions. 👍Great review!

It's a SUV to my eyes. I've been driving minivans for 9 years cause of my 3 kids. Not excited to cruise around in a van. I can absolutely see myself driving this MPV.

It occurs to me that if automakers wanted to make their minivans look more like SUV's, all they have to do is move the handle for the sliding door to the rear of the door. They are pretty much all power operated anyway, and even if you have to operate it manually, it makes more sense to pull the door open from the rear than push it open from the front. So simple, but no manufacturer has done it yet.

Don't NEED AWD. Just good tires. But I get you. My 02' Town and Country had AWD. I was spoiled!

How much are you they selling for I tried buying one and the total cost with financing came to a total of 67,000 this is included with the 8,000 mark up.this is way too much.

i just traded my 2020 BMW X3 for Kia Carnival SX trim a week ago. I removed second row seat and go camping with my daughter sleeping in the van with a tailgate tent. it’s plenty of room. And highway driving assist is absolutely awesome!!!!! (i had to pay $5,000 above the MSRP) that’s a bummer 😫

Toyota owner ( proud Toyota millionaire)here and I bought the Carnival EX trim because it was the perfect blend of luxury and space and right in the middle. When I needed a 8 passenger road trip and two car car seat vehicle and space for my bicycles and kayaks and moving furniture and equipment between my buildings, I looked first at the biggest 3 row suvs and then mini vans... I test drive the Sienna and highlander, Telluride and Pallasides, Honda Pilot and oddessy. The only vehicle that blew me away and felt luxurious with space was this Carnival. It smooth over bumps, luxurious interior, high resolution touch 12 inch display with high resolution back up camera. Plenty of safety feature and well put together. Not to mention the 10 years 100k transmission warranty.. The GPS is one of the best I have ever have used and the UVO phone app that controls the kia Carnival is amazing ! It allows check your status of your car, location, unlock doors, trouble shoot etc and all from an app.. The Sienna hybrid power train was rough and jerky and power while sufficient you really had to floor it and then drops off immediately once your foot is off the pedal. The Carnival power train was powerful and smooth and was amazing. Although you will get will better mpg in the Sienna, I felt long roads trips and droning sound and rough transmission was not worth it vs a smooth luxurious suv like ride... Another annoying thing about Sienna when I was driving was infotainment system that was small and looked like something from 10 years ago and not to mention that horrible grainy back up camera on a 2021 Sienna.. I couldn't focus while test driving the Sienna looking at infotainment screen lol Not to mention they used a big fake platisticy trim in the central console that extend across the interior in the xle trim that felt super cheap... In all Carnival give the Carnival test drive and you will be surprised. So far I have been on two road trips and it all smooth and stress free... They got some of the best seats. The GPS and navigation is one of the best gps I have used ever in a car. 2000 happy miles so far!!

I’m a Toyota Lexus guy but I think I’m going to the only dealer in my area who has one - these look great- hopefully they have learned why some of there engines were wearing out before 100k heard they were missing some holes so the oil could flow in some spots (design flaw)

@@davidkrywczuk5529 Its also received high 5 star crash test ratings all around. When I closed the door it sounded very solid. Good to see Its crash test results are amazing. Concerning reliability. Looks like have changed their business model and geared towards long term reliability. Every auto maker has knowledge and know how to make a reliable vehicle; however, some auto makers choose not too in order to sell parts and labor as their business model. Selling a new is not very profitable for many auto makers. They make money from financing, parts and service after the vehicles is purchased. Kia and Hyundai and Mazda and may auto makers are changing from unreliable model to longetivity.

The compliments I tended to save for Mazda’s, I find myself giving them to Kia the past two years. They are changing the game, hopefully it spawns a more competitive buyer friendly market, and hopefully it translates over into the car sticker tags.

Didn't think a minivan could look better than the new Chrysler Pacifica until I saw this one. The Pacifica does still have a handful of advantages over this, and I do still think it looks pretty damn good for a van, but overall I think Kia really did raise the bar higher in almost every way.

I have a Pacifica and Paci is more of a quality thicker build and feels more tighter and the Paci engine is more smoother with less vibration, also feels more quality. The Carnival feels a little more Tinny though it's nice...

They'll have a massive hit if they can come up with a plug-in hybrid version for this!

I myself from Canada has ordered the top most SX trim with reclining seats and waiting for the delivery. I really wish Kia kept the door handles like a normal SUV. As it has power doors, no need to place the handles like a mini van. It should've been a great SUV look without adjacent handles..Kia pls do it so in the future, also please find a way to hide those tracks. It's easily doable, weld a small long thin piece of metal over the moving part, when the door opens, the part pops up and out with the internal lever. When the door closes, it will close and hide the gap..

I enjoyed your video. This was the first video that I found where someone just talked about facts and compared to other vehicles in the same class based on facts. Makes it a bit easier to sort through the information. Great review. Thanks!

I feel like if you're close enough that your hood covers the turn signal of the car in front of you, then you're too close.

How many kids do you have now?

My father has owned nothing but Toyotas for over 30 yrs. I almost had him sold on the Carnival, tho' he had a little reservation, as do I, about the mpg difference between it & the Sienna. He bought a fully loaded, top of the line 2021 Sienna last week. The biggest factor? Availability. I could only find 3 Carnivals within a 200 mile radius of Dallas-Fort Worth & only 1 within a 150 mie radius of him. There just wasn't any stock last week. I expect the Carnival to do very well once production ramps up.

I got the first SX Prestige package when it hit Michigan. I absolutely love it and I don’t have kids but, my lease was coming up to end in a few months. I had to have it. I don’t regret it. I’ve had almost ever Kia minus sportage, soul, forte, and Soltus. I love the ride and room within it. Both sunroofs open and the seats OMG! I don’t think I can do another. I still have my 21 Sorento as well as 18 Optima. I always grab the key fob to my Carnival. I promise you if your thinking about it do it. No regrets!

That shiny aluminum trim below the dashboard is a bright sunglare in your face waiting to happen.

I don't think that will happen by the angle it is designed/placed!

They should move the back turn signals to be with the other tail lights not on the bumper.

Yes. It's odd for it to be at the bumper area only and not at the top by the lift gate.

Great review as always! I was surprised you didn’t mention the second row sunroof that actually slides open like the front row. Another first in the class. Saw that feature on another channel. Great new entry....

Comfy looking interior, engine sounds good too, and 8spd Trans is a plus

Now, if Kia adds this color leather into the K5 GT, I’ll trade for one tomorrow!

this van was incredible. I went to a KIA dealer to buy a Range Rover and then fell in love with this and got MUCH more for half the price.

Love it, but I REALLY hate those ground level turn signals. They seem pretty involve at that height. Not very safe.

Great review, Sofyan! I have a Cadenza and love it. Very impressed with Kia’s attention to detail. This trim looks great, especially the second row seats. I am disappointed they didn’t include a HUD in this trim though. Hopefully they come out with a AWD version too.

If Kia wanted to hide the fact it’s a minivan they should have hid the rear door track like every other minivan does Turn signals in the bumper are the worst idea ever I hate those

Me too! I was behind a vehicle with them and almost didn't notice it.

I could see Kia using this chassis to make a full-size SUV. It just needs to be lifted and be made AWD/4WD.

On certainly angles I can actually see kia spelled out in the new logo. I think they did a fantastic job. Not only on the new logo but on the carnival ( it's a fun name ).Starting from the stinger , k5 , telluride and now the carnival. Kia is on a great path. I have been driving a Kia since 2011 as a daily driver. So far it has been dependable. Awd on the carnival would have just made me trade in my suv without a doubt.

Not gonna lie, that 2nd row side-to-side slide is crazy!!! I've been away from van reviews too long

As usual a great review.... If this van gets AWD I'm trading in my new XSE Camry!! 2nd row seats that fully recline and move side-to-side. Two 12" monitor up front and almost 300hp. Unbelievable interior and almost SUV like exterior Kia and Hyundai is kickin azz & takin names!!! Didn't Kia hire the designer from BMW a few years ago?!?! Crazy!!!!

Kia has definitely really stepped up their game in many vehicle consumer aspects. I’m not a family man and definitely not even close to being one, but I would put the Kia Carnival at the top of my list if I were to buy an MPV. Also, a slight disclaimer, the high beams are in the grill weirdly enough. It’s definitely a new look, and it still does look good. When it comes to buying cars, I will only buy one with LED headlights or if they come with halogens I’ll upgrade them.

The Base the LXS (Seat Package) is the best value package. Comes with Power Driver Seat, Heated Front Seats, Remote Sliding Door Opener from the Key Fob, Push Button Start. I'm impressed.

awd + ground clearance to enhance the suv feel, weather performance. Maybe better mpgs (might need to be hybrid) and this thing would be unstoppable for families or road trippers anywhere.

It's a great looking vehicle but it needs AWD. If KIA wants to compete with SUV's then it needs to be capable on some dirt roads and snow. I hope they come out with an "Adventure" package that includes AWD, more ground clearance, and some All Terrain tires. There are a lot of families looking for a large family vehicle that is easy to go camping with.

My thoughts exactly. Couldn't get this in a van, so I bought a Ford Expedition. I liked the height and power but it was not as good as a van, so I sold it after two years.

Dude those aren't old school light bulbs they are vacuum tubes. Google it LOL. Great review and I love your channel!

It's really nice! That being said, I have a 2018 Sedona SXL with the lounge seats, so I'm partial.

Yeah when you think about it. Most Truck based SUVs only have more room than sedans.

Give it 9 inch ground clearance and brake into real SUV size with low prices...imagine a Korean version of suburban for half the price. Missed opportunity here.

@@jmarston4 We were told by our dealership here in Michigan. It’s a pretty recent development. ~1 week I see posts from other people that they were able to get theirs, but maybe that was before Kia put the brakes on. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just really hate how they put the rear turn indicators on the bumpers. They’re not even LEDs. That’s to low in my opinion. How does that pass regulations but we can’t get the new Stinger the way it is in Korea. You know, with sequential LED rear turn indicators. Oh and way to much piano black plastic. Shame

How do the rear entertainment screens connect to their built-in Netflix, KZread apps without a mobile hotspot? Are they cell capable, or do you have to use your phone's mobile hotspot?

I always thought MPV stood for multi-passenger vehicle. Learn something new everyday.

Have you went back and done the mpg test? I just bought one like your tester and my mpg seem way too low. Mine is showing like 14 mpg. 😱. I bought it for the gas mileage.
