    I think a key to understanding the design of this car, especially it’s “VIP Lounge Seats” and their ability to fully recline and control the seat in front of them is that in Asian countries it is far more common that grandparents live with their adult children. So if you have one or two kids in the back, the grandparents get to sit in the VIP Lounge Seats and their control over their comfort is an emphasis over anyone else’s.

    I’m not ashamed to say that this is my new dream car. I don’t have any kids but accidentally discovered how amazingly practical and functional the mini van truly is when my f150 randomly broke down to the point beyond repair at only 102k miles. I am now so happy that it did or else I never would have discovered what I was missing. I had 2000$ to spend on a vehicle. I needed lots of cargo space for work. In that price range I was looking at 20+ year old beat to hell trucks with well over 200k miles that needed thousands in repairs. That is when I saw an ad for a 2007 Nissan Quest that was completely loaded with 91k miles for 2200$. I bit my pride and picked it up after realizing how much space it had with the seats stowed away. You can haul a large group around comfortably and then later that day fold all of the seats down and have more cargo space than a full size pickup… let’s not even mention that it’s protected cargo space. Also if you ever try camping in a mini van it is a superior option to a tent. You can just throw a full sized mattress in there and be extremely comfortable surrounded by the vans luxury features. They also tend to be very reliable and long lasting in general. I’ll never camp in a tent again. I have put 80,000 miles on this thing with only standard maintenance and minor repairs. My girlfriend made so much fun of me after we met and she saw my van. Her mind was quickly changed after a few trips to see family across state and camping adventures. Mini van gang for life for me

    My family bought a 2020 Kia Carnival last year, and we all love it. It looks really good inside and out, not so much in your face luxurious or aggressive as the 2021 or 2022 models, but still aggressive enough that the little cars are intimidated. The car's a diesel, sounds like a truck on the outside but once you get in you can't hear a thing, it's one of the quietest cars (on the inside) I've ever been in. The middle row has 3 normal seats instead of 2 luxury seats, which puts it as an 8 seater (back row still has 3), and every seat is big enough to fit any of us. The boot is basically exactly the same.

    You are the man. AWESOME review. Yours was one of a few reviews that really helped us make our decision. We actually just bought a 2022 LX Seat Package Carnival and we really like it. After researched every minivan/MPV option VERY thoroughly we concluded that Carnival really has the best total package nailed, all things considered. Those include storage space, leg room, interior/exterior SUV design, more ground clearance, safety, better reliability than all other options in recent years, very respectable gas mileage (we’re getting 30+ on highway), unrivaled infotainment user experience, and the best warranty in the business. We used to be a Honda family but it feels like Honda has stopped trying (feels cheap, much less reliable, and VERY cramped drivers seat leg area), Chrysler interior still feels old school (with lackluster long-term satisfaction), and Toyota will cost you premium dollars for hybrid and AWD (but mechanics tell me that those options lead to more expensive maintenance in the long run). Regarding AWD, I discovered a great KZread video showing how snow tires (plus traction control) make a much bigger difference than having AWD in the winter. And the Carnival has the BEST 2nd row center/8th seat (especially vs Honda and Toyota), reversible (rear-facing 2nd row option), and with the LX seat package we can remove 2nd row seats if we need to. Toyota’s CEO recently admitted that Hyundai/Kia is the one brand family that worries him when considering their competition. For good reason.

  • @TheoriginalBMT

    @TheoriginalBMT

    Agreed. I just bought one today. All of the above mentioned. Plus being able to fit two read facing car seats and be comfortable adults in the front was a huge deal. Getting good snow tires makes a huge difference in drivability. I do it with my Sonata and I laugh at snow days or drifted snow on roadways. The biggest lie about all season tires is how they only perform above freezing.

    We love ours as well...at least the first 4 days. Bought brand new at the beginning of June a few days before a road trip. Halfway between Georgia and Ohio the check engine came on. Luckily made it to Ohio without problems. Took it to local dealership and legit told it was probably bc we drove it on the highway for an extended time. They reset the codes. Long story short two more visits later for same issue our beautiful black SX has been at the dealer since the beginning of July. Keep having fix date extended week after week. Dealer blames it on parts and though we now have a Kia service number it has helped not one bit in getting us in touch with their customer support team about this horrible experience. Good news the dealer let us borrow a sportage so we are paying 3x the price a month for an older, smaller car that isn't ours. Thanks Kia!

    Absolutely beautiful and gorgeous minivan. The history of minivan's has been always BOXY and yet contoured for the family. As time progressed, mini vans have improved styles and power adapting to newer designs and technology to maintain sales for the new generation. I've owned minivans for about 25 years and I've experienced a good power train is crucial in a minivan for heavy loads, constant daily driving, strong & quick acceleration on interstates, and challenging all weather conditions along with climbing mountains. This KIA Carnival minivan has pushed it's competition behind and took a huge leap into the future. Yet, naming this minivan "Carnival"? Really? Seriously? It's the most prestigious minivan in it's class and has earned the name to be changed to at least something like "KIA Karvelle" Thank you

    This is one of those reviews where Doug's terrible sense of style really shows. He laughs at the sporty styling and gives it identical scores to all the other vans, but there are LOTs of comments praising the styling for being so good on this thing that it actually looks desirable in it's own right, regardless of it's features or purpose. I feel the same way, I was surprised he didn't say anything really positive at all about this incredibly unique take on the minivan's lines and styling. I kept trying to see the classic minivan outline and lines, and it took until 3/4 of the way through the video before the styling had sunk in enough for me to start seeing the familiar classic proportions. It honestly looks like a variation of the Ford Explorer from a few years back, and even a few ques from past Land Rovers. I think he seriously overlooked the potential this design has to become extremely popular and iconic, possibly even a game changer for the segment in general if the other companies learn from this to basically copy and paste a lot of the design language in their SUVs and apply it to their minivans after swapping their current swoopy and curvy shapes and proportions for this much more boxy and edgy look.

    Very well said. I think if KIA lifted the Carnival another inch or two and some how disguised or remove 3 inches of bottom metal on the sides it would be a KIA version of a Ford Expedition or Chevy Suburban. This Carnival version in my opinion not for families. I think it would be cool car for those wanting to have a Uber/Lift, Taxi or Airport Shuttle for people that don't want to waste money paying for car storage but don't want to use a typical Cloud Shuttle with strangers. Family of 4-6 could go with driver to airport with ease. Edit 7/25/2021. I called it a car. lol. Whatever we call this the Carnival its a leap over the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna in appearance. For fellow youtubers that saw brand new in 1984 some fun stats.. America's first 1984 Dodge Caravan & siblings were a mere a175.9" long and 69.6" wide. Compare that to the current crop of MiniVan seems hilarious. Carnival is 203" long, 79 " wide. The Carnival is over 2ft longer. Fun review. Good new direction for larger passenger vehicles whatever manufacturers call them. I like the Carnival.. I wouldn't want to park it on city streets. lol Nice job Kia..

    I really wish Mr.Demuro would use his head as a bit more than a source of noise. The turn signals on the bumper are not an "afterthought". See, Mr.Demuro, when a car stops on the side of the road due to a breakdown, what you do is TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS and open the boot to take out the spare wheel and/or instruments. If the turn signals are on the door, they WILL NOT BE VISIBLE when the door is open. Hence they are located on the part of the rear panel that doesn't move when the door opens. So rather than being "weird" or "stange" it is actually quite clever.
