Happy Saturday everyone! We enjoyed the Maybach GLS a lot more than we thought we would. The back seat is absolutely ridiculous, but then again so is the puny trunk considering the size of this SUV. It seems like a stupid buy, until you realize this car is about half the price of the competition from Bentley, and about 1/3 the price of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Are you fan of the extra chrome on the front and the 3-pointed star hood ornament?

I must say, I kinda like it as much or more than a comparable S Class or Maybach sedan. Probably cause it has more presence. I really like the chrome too

That front is just stupid looking and worse than gaudy; the design is imbalanced. Don’t care if it’s chrome or not, the design just doesn’t flow with the rest of the car which is otherwise pretty nice.

Meh. Not a fan of chrome. Honestly, the outside of MB products look very generic anymore. The interior looks comfy otherwise this SUV doesn't do anything for me.

It sounds like MB paid you for saying good, but they are far away from being good as they should☝️You didn't pay attention to the details and if you would, definitely would be disappointed as the quality doesn't math with the price!!🤯🤯🤯

Put the 3rd row back in, and this is basically what the regular GLS SHOULD have been.

Cuz I'm assuming those lounging 1st class seats are what drastically increase the price. I'm just saying that the finish of the standard GLS should be at this level, not necessarily all the extra niceties like tray tables, etc. Lol

They can't because Maybach brand doesn't exist anymore and was ceased in 2013 due to poor sales. Just 3,000 Maybach vehicles have been sold worldwide since the brand was revived in 2002. In 2010, only 157 Maybachs were sold worldwide. Maybach was developed to compete with Rolls-Royce and Bently but the brand was a failure. Now purely for marketing purpose Mercedes is branding top of there ultra luxury models as Mercedes-Maybach

Between this and the Bentley Bentayga, I would definitely choose the Bentley. Mercedes just doesn’t have the level of craftsmanship that sets the ultra-luxury segment apart.

One of my dad's good friends has a Bentayga Speed along with a Flying Spur W12. I haven't been in them driving yet, but I am such a big fan of Bentley, I'd pick them over Rolls Royce too.

I'd rather just have a well appointed GLS. It's not distinct enough to warrant the extra $

If you were to actually interact with this car (or other luxury cars in this segment), observe, and experience the actual driving experience and technology, you would simply not have this “opinion”. It’s typically a reflection of one’s intelligence or unwillingness to accept that higher quality items cost more because they are… higher quality. Not only with what you see, but the mechanical and technological engineering that you DON’T see behind the body panels, which separates this from whatever sub 60k SUV that you think would compete with this. Maybe one that has more... *exclusivity. Lol.

The interior is a huge upgrade over the GLS which I always thought was kind of plain. If I was buying a Maybach to ride in the back, I would just get the sedan based on a stretched S Class. I am sure they will sell these but I don't get it.

Where do you expect the refrigerator in the second row to go?? The roof?

Redline Review's first Maybach ( though it's the GLS.. Not the S-CLass.) ! wow....

The faux center vent area is a turn off. It just doesn't look thought out for such an expensive vehicle. You would think a Maybach would have addressed that.

Absolutely insane. Very very nice vehicle. I actually don't care for the look of the screens though. Kinda looks cheap in comparison to the rest of the vehicle. Looks very similar to something in a GM car lol. Don't like the color or font. Should be a nice white. The Cadillac screens looked far classier. But again, wow.... The interior is nuts. Can't imagine the new car smell with all that leather. Godly 😍

I use to like the Escalade and Gm but Mercedes Maybach is now what I love Gm just has cheap build quality and the Escalade does not feels super luxurious in the back only the front

Interestingly if you buy a GLE with the black gray nappa leather for 2990, you get the same seats as the Maybach GLS 600. And there are many many parts that are identical or very similar to the GLE. How do I know? I have a new GLE 450 SUV and I got it with the black nappa leather. It’s identical.

So, I've watched a bunch of your videos, and like them better than any other car reviewer. However, a small point. You keep saying things like "more smoother" or "more bigger". It should be either "smoother" or "more smooth". Not both. Not a big deal. But a fairly obvious grammar error nevertheless. BTW, in Canada there are one or two car shows that air once a week. One in particular that has been on for MANY years is just awful. I have no idea what they are trying to accomplish. Your videos have great details and information, and should be watched by anyone serious about buying a new car.

It definitely looks opulent. Agree CarPlay should be wireless, should definitely have the newest tech off is representing s the flagship suv. Maybach logo should be on the hood instead of the star. Space utilization isn’t great. A large population of the people that can afford to purchase one of these won’t be able to use the seat recline. That fridge eating up all of that space in the hatch and making the space awkward to load is an oops. Looks like it hauls for such a bulky vehicle. Don’t mind the chrome. I’d lie to see them put the rear seat controllers on the back of the front seats or perhaps under the rear seat cushion. Personally I’d want the 5 seat configuration. As a driver I’d likely spend more time in the front seat.

Good God...I mean 160K for a car. Just look at the Genesis SUVs...nice and way cheaper but not cheaply made. This is a very nice car though, but damn...mortgage payment anyone..also did anyone notice how he said this was not "hand built"?

Same! I remember when this generation of the S Class Coupe debuted, Mercedes had an emerald green S65 Coupe in their press fleet with polished aluminum wheels and yellow brake calipers. So boss. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could.

@@JDubbs07 Bro those Chrome forged 20 inch polished aluminum AMG wheels are literally PERFECT for a car with such presence like that, my favorite wheels. The W222 redesign S class sedan and Coupe were flawless imo. The things I would do for an Emerald Green S65 with the Nut brown interior or for the Maybach with a dual tone paint exterior 🥵. Mannnnnnnnn 😂😂😂

My 1997 Honda Accord coupe EXL had green metallic paint that looked like that. It looked black under the sun and I'm certain angles in the shade. Automakers are now just offering 6 or 7 boring colors. It's a pity.

Bentayga speed all day. But honestly. They should incorporate the EQS interior in this. Maybach should only have the latest and greatest

Bad news, you can’t get the Maybach GLS600 for 2022my in the U.S. because Mercedes is having supply issues with their V8s. Pretty much ALL V8 models (except S580 and Maybach S580) are taken out for 2022my.

Before I buy a Model S Plaid I'd get this plus it has autonomous driving if you hire a driver. The fit and finish seems to be amazing. The complains about the dated infotainment system is just dumb. How is your 3 month old iPhone? Dated?

Nice car but I wish it had more chrome.

The front is too busy

Amazing interior but the front end design is a turn off for me. Maybe it’s the chrome over kill I’m no sure. It just reminds me of the smiling cat in Alice in Wonderland.

All v8 mercedes are essentially discontinued🤯 Given MB's electric push I would posit that MB V8 passanger vehicles are are done for. For the foreseeable future all GLS will be 450. The E active suspension is also out, not enough chips available. It looms like my 580 and GLS63 delivered to date will now be verifiable classics. Guess my next MB will be an EQS 580.

Yeah so sad. MBUSA won't be selling any models with V8s for the 2022 MY due to supply issues. Basically, all the vehicles including AMG models with V8s will be affected. Only the S Class and Maybach S Class won't be affected apparently.

I saw one of these here in Vegas this past weekend - I wasn't impressed. With the excessive amount of chrome it just looked really gaudy, along with the overall profile of just looked off. And of course the driver of had to take up two parking spots in front of the gym, too...

Why do luxury makers use Nappa grade leather? By the window sticker, my cousins 2016 dodge DART GT fully loaded has Nappa leather, and lots of kias have Nappa as well.. even something like a optima, chrysler 200, Ford Fusion platinum..

@@CC-si3cr Yes, they do. However, their SVAutobiography will cost over 200k. That’s what makes the M-B Maybach somewhat of a “bargain”.

I love exotic cars too and stocks are one way to make money. ,.,.AMAZON: Yep, I bought a ton on the dip. It's getting cheaper relative to its current earnings (half compared to last year). Amazon invested $14 billion in the last quarter alone, the same as it spent in 6 months before that. It is a do not sell stock. ...With the Delta virus coming at full speed ahead, pandemic sales will make a comeback. Amazon is investing so much money, that no competitor will ever be able to catch up. Amazon's not going anywhere so I know that eventually it will come back. Fidelity considers Amazon as a large growth company (probably because as big as it is, it still only has 7% of the retail market) Get on board or be runover, it's up to you.

I don't think the hood ornament would make it. Isn't that why automakers stopped making protruding hood ornaments? Cost, theft, and automatic car washes destroyed 'em.
