At first I couldn't comprehend that price tag. It's 100k more than a Turbo S, and twice the price of a GT3. But then I think about how insanely fun a topless GT3 would be to drive, it's probably one of the most fun & enjoyable cars to drive of all time. And on top of that they added beautiful, timeless styling. And with limited production it will hold it's value forever, or go up in value. So I think I've changed my mind about it, and can understand that price tag.

Doug: "The coolest logo is..." Me: "Lemme guess, there's an icon of a car on a button or screen that is customised to the car model..." Doug: "ON THE GUAGE CLUSTER IT'S A SPEEDSTER!!!" Doug my friend, it may be time to admit that this is basically a standard in the premium class of vehicle now.

@Jesse Mitchell: Well that's the thing, this speedster is fitted with a naturally aspirated 4.0 liter flat six boxer engine, which means it has good engine balance and low center of gravity which keeps the car well planted, secondly it will definitely last longer than any turbo or turbocharged engines, and they are cheaper to maintain. The best part is it is mated to a 6 speed manual transmission, the only draw back is that I hope it would be fitted with a 7speed manual, for better fuel economy and also adds value to it's cool factor, so again less maintenance cost. And last but not least the convertible cabriolet roof needs to be inserted or removed manually, that means it will outlast any automatic or motorized convertible in terms of its durability, and this too adds no cost or almost zero maintenance. Hence the increase in price by almost 100k from the company's point of view, but as a customer like many others I personally too feel that 300K is not justifiable. And finally if they really wanted to shed weight they should have kept a traditional mechanical handbrake rather than these modern switch or button e-brake, it would have definitely shed some good amount of weight and the mechanical handbrake would be cheaper and easier to maintain.

Completely agree with you on Porsche manuals. Years ago I would drive an '87 911 on occasion. No other clutch and shifter have come close. I also loved how the pedals on that '87 came out of the floor.

DOUG..great video, as always! Though I highly doubt you'll see my comment here, thought I'd throw it up anyways. I remember back in the day, car magazines lauding the 5-speed transmission of Honda Preludes. I've owned 3 myself, and would (tend) to agree with them (depending on model, year, etc). Would be great to see you choose a car model, and do reviews of them through their development, and compare them (if possible) to current cars. Supra, 300ZX, Camaro, Mustang, Civic, WRX, etc. Clearly there's nothing there that you haven't already tested, but perhaps a back-to-back for a specific model, or a short series of a run of cars. Anyways, great vids, been watching you for years. Cheers from sunny Phoenix! :)

@@mo-hammadabunaser1367 Idk. Plenty of people review dream cars. Doug is the only one that takes time to point out the cool quirks of everyday cars that I wouldn't have otherwise appreciated. Or he takes us back in time to review some truly awful cars, which is just as fun. But that's just my opinion.

I feel the same way. A mix of both normal cars and super rare ones would be best imo.

Nah I like him reviewing super cars , he’s the only super car you tuber I can stomach other than manny k. The rest are all wayyy to douchey and fake and give off a spoiled rich kid vibe that gets under my skin

I'm really glad he didnt focus too much on the infotainment system. I would much rather hear about the actual car. Great review!

I love how the act of (to anyone else would be) 1 step: *opening thr decklid* but to Doug, it’s 1) pushing this button in the center console to unlock the decklid, 2) pulling this lever to unsecure the door 3) push the door open 4) get up out of the seat 5) walk around to rear of the speedster 6) grab the decklid 6) raise the decklid... you get the idea.

yea this is one of my favorites and I'm not a Porsche guy(especially not 911s, I really like the caymans best) but I like the concept of this one a lot. the gt3 has track capabilities but this is like the extreme touring version, that's so dope

Doug the type of guy to wish his family a Merry Christmas on Thanksgiving just to be quirky.

Porsche said, when they made the GT3 RS4, that the crank and mechanics of a roll down window was heavier than an electric motor and switch. It"s probably still true with the Speedster.

I do agree with the passengers side cup holder system, its very elegant and functional. Oh, and its a real manual which is another rarity

Doug, all modern cars have an icon that matches the car in the dash ;) But yes, it is cool to see the Speedster version.

I like it, if your living in warm climate then this would be a pretty nice ride to add to your collection

This is the only Porsche I’d buy. I love the look and I feel making the roof a manual procedure makes the car more authentic and interesting. Do they make these in automatic with paddles?
