The 2019 Manifesto In 2024: How The Tories Failed Us All

In the 2019 General Election, the Conservative Party won a massive majority, fuelled by the pledge to Get Brexit Done alongside 5 other headline grabbing manifesto promises. They pledged a future of prosperity, fairness, and national progress. Four years later, and the reality is starkly different. In this video, I’ll be taking a look at each of those Tory manifesto pledges and detailing the stark truth about the Tories’ unfulfilled commitments.

Great presentation as ever Rob! On the thumb facade of your video today, the most important criminal of them all, 'dodgy Dave' should have been portrayed as well, for his utter callosity, short sightedness and greed. Being an Orthopaedic surgeon who worked in the NHS, I loved the splinting of the 'broken bone' H of the NHS when describing the 'broken Tory pledge' on 'new hospitals'😆

@cathcartlepick. People like Rob can only educate the lay population about the catastrophic effects of brexit and incentivize them to vote in a particular way. The answer to your question-,'How long are the British public..?'. Till people are galvanised enough and demand a proportional representative system! Only 33 million voters of all eligible UK voters bothered to vote on the Brexit referendum day in 2016. People in UK are far too laid back in speaking up against the system. The political system has become more corrupt than many kleptocracies around the world.

Brexit will never be "done" it's impossible. The first reason is that nobody knows or agrees on what "done" is. There's an opinion of what "done" means for almost everyone that voted for it and few of them related to reality. Second is that the EU is a constantly evolving entity with which we have to have a close relationship, as they change our relationship will necessarily change. Anyone who thinks we can just ignore the EU is a reality denier on the same level as a flat earther.

"Hospital bed per 1000." With regard to Denmark the number 2.5 is misleading. Denmark has a fast reaction health national system, with a heavy focus on preventive medicine. And 6 monthly scheduled heath check-up for pensioner and other groups are common. Health check-ups, are not compulsory but; are recommend. And about 80% of pensioner follow the recommendation. Doctors appointment are usual scheduled within 1-3 days. Dental appointment are nearly all 6 monthly scheduled and acute dental treatments are immediate; Dental treatment is also available in both Germany and Sweden. Ambulance reaction-times must not be more than 4 minutes. This all has an impact on the numbers of acute beds required. The same can be said for the other Scandinavia countries. Keep-up the good works Rob!!

And yeah, I’ll certainly vote tactically if it comes to it. Not quite sure about my own constituency now as they’ve moved the borders, no doubt to improve Tory chances, but I think even so, they’ve little chance of getting in where I live. The old constituency has been Labour for some time now and I’m pleased to report our Labour MP deeply cares about the local communities and fights in the House of Commons for her constituents.. Good analysis b.y the way of just how much the Tories have failed to deliver their own manifesto. There again, Sunak failed at achieving his first five pledges, so just came up with five more he won’t deliver.

Before this Ken Livingstone was also suspended for Anti-Semitism and we've seen three months of vile Anti-Semitism on the streets of London for marches attended by Labour MP's. I recommend "The Brexit Scandal / Dark Money / Bought Brexit" (available on KZread) which discusses how an advisory referendum was hijacked by the UK's rich elite. Johnson illegally prorogued Parliament, in doing so lying to the Queen, so that MP's could not discuss next steps, e.g. a second mandatory referendum on the full implications of leaving the EU. The "Leave means Leave" movement was not a political party but a company run by Farage and Tice (now Reform UK), that used social media to disseminate anti-European messaging, manipulating public sentiment in encouraging people to lobby their MP's to support a hard Brexit. The Brexit benefit for Farage, Rees-Mogg, Tice, etc is that they don't pay tax on income from their off shore investments. Had we stayed in the EU the richest in our society would pay taxes on investment income.

It is still an issue, the media has moved on as it does, it needs bad news to profit and there is always a supply of that. It will only matter when teaching unions grow a pair and shout louder or when a school collapses and kills teachers and children. The Gov't tried to say that LA's should fund repairs but seeing as how they have no money the issue persists. It's a very alive cat waiting to pounce.

I keep replaying the bit about how few social houses were built under this government, it is truly shocking but unsurprising. The fact that over a million are on the waiting list should be a national scandal, it could be fixed in one term if the government wanted to if new houses could only be occupied by people on the waiting list. The housing crisis probably won't be solved until right to buy is cancelled either. It requires bold action to solve this problem, sweeping changes to planning and even the way our councils are organised, counties will need to be redrawn to reflect the current reality as many boundaries are outdated and getting in the way of development like the Croxley link. The green belt should be leading to smarter development not a complete ban on building anything. The truth is we need lots of houses, lots of infrastructure and the services to support them. Any new towns will fail without decent local public services, shops and transport. Everyone says how crap Harlow, Stevenage and Basildon are while towns like Welwyn, Letchworth and Hemel Hempstead, even Milton Keynes are considered decent places to live. They need to be learned from. Also what a legacy from the Tories, what a waste of time!

Strategic voting is increasingly reasonable given the knight’s endorsement of the Tory status quo. The choice of Putin light or Blair right seems insignificant compared with more of Mr. Sunak.

Rule number one should be make decisions based on logic, not because someone stimulated your fluffy feelings, then you can't be programmed to vote for destructive leaders and policies (e.g. Brexit). The big problem to my eyes is that the UK's finances appears to be lacking to adequately fund the NHS, social services and transport, yet taxes are very high and there is little to no room to increase taxation further. Therefore it is difficult to see how we can improve things in the short or even medium term. The question is, given the high taxation in the UK, where has all the money gone, and no it hasn't all gone to people coming over on small boats, the UK would still be in a mess if there were no asylum seekers or illegal immigrants.

As a queer person I won't be voting Labour regardless. I do not need Tories 2.0 or New New Labour as they like to be called. Starmer will not improve your lives one bit. He had a taste for free stuff and fine dining. He is going to jet everywhere when he gets the chance. He is in the pocket of big business. Starmer is more Tories and with Streeting will privatise the rest of the NHS.

Shush. Learn how politics works. The country will not vote left or right so its irrelevant. Labour have a cracking team to make the changes we need. Being queer means nothing to most people, we are all suffering the same, we all have equal rights and protection, well we did until this govt threw them away and they are not done. Don't vote Labour and you will be kissing other rights goodbye. And when you want to protest you won't be allowed to. Anyone that genuinely believes all people are important, that the country they live in needs to be decent and fair needs to vote Labour or suffer the Consequences of no human rights, rights at all . Think on, you are not the only generation. Our young need a decent legacy. It's actually what Labour are about.

Our government is useless, as EU governments are, like Germany short of workers, France food prices, they’re all suffering, France large retailers are starting to boycott certain items. Carrefour has stopped Pepsi to start with, food inflation and energy bills are damaging to us all. The EU is also struggling with large intake of asylum seekers. The reason we’re suffering is due to the lack of forward planning, this should have been in place years ago. Allowing foreigners to buy too many of our assets. Lack of infrastructure. Look at the debt of Germany,France and the uk, then tell me they can run the economy.

The French food prices are at least 30% lower than the UK with much more variety and very fresh fruit and Veg. Since the French own some of our railways and energy companies then they are also profiting hugely from the UK customers. Yep over that last 40+ years the UK has been sold off and it is costing us all.

Tactical voting is a little dodgy around here, Tories 38,021 Others 14,311 Labour are the closest challengers but will disatisfied Tories vote for them or the Liberals? I think we are screwed! I would love to get rid of Atkins with her filthy attitude to Junior Doctors and for personal reasons also, I think she will win as people like me will not know who to vote for and only once in the last four elections have all others outnumbered the Tories and only by 360 or so! Good luck to those who can shift these morons though.
