The Rambler Marlin wasn't that bad of a car, the main problem was that it had initially been designed as a much smaller fastback called the Tarpon, the only problem was the AMC did not have a V-8 engine that was small enough for it so they used a much larger size model. Had it been a smaller car I'm sure that sales would have been much higher. Our family had a 1961 all white Ford Anglia from '62 to '63 and I also thought that it was a pretty good car, and boy were they ever popular. They even had light blue matchbox model of it. #7.

It's a comet, not a cyclone dummy. I had a 1960 comet, with the slanted tail lights, 6cylinder, automatic. No hot rod, but not a bad car. I liked the Ramblers, where you could slide the front seat forward, flip the back of the seats all the way down, and you could camp out front to back of the rear seats, at the outdoor theater.

This narrator sure doesn't know much about cars, just look at the title for starters! I'll go with the Valiant being an ugly looking car, but no way should the Mercury Comet Cyclone be on that list. I can think of quite a few worse including the first generation Ford Falcon.

The title of this video is: " The 20 Worst American Cars of the 1950s Ever Made ". There was NOT ONE CAR FROM THE 1950s SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO! Additionally, MORE THAN HALF THE CARS ARE NOT AMERICAN CARS, BUT CARS MANUFACTURED OUTSIDE OF THE U. S. A.! Add to that, an announcer who cannot pronounce English words properly makes this one of the WORST VIDEOS about automobiles that I have ever watched! I would advise the producer to find another line of work. Making videos is definitely NOT your cup of tea!

You couldn't find a better Marlin to highlight? Where AMC went wrong was not going the Tarpon route. Unveiled at the '64 Chicago auto the Tarpon was a fast back built on the smaller and sportier American platform. The Tarpon would have been a direct competitor to the Barracuda and the Mustang. But the refrigerator salesmen wanted to go in a different direction hence the Marlin. Was the Hillman even available in the US? Let's stick with American cars. If you bought an Amphicar for any other reason than to say you were the only 1 on your block with one you missed the point.6:37 it's basic transportation not a Shelby cobra.I don't believe the darts were considerred compacts until the '63 redesign.8:22 it's a Valiant it didn't. become a Plymouth Valiant until 1962.8:45 chaotic design? It was the same as the '60 and '61. My parents had a '60 Valiant wagon and I don't remember any over heating issues.8:57-8:61 WTF is he rambling about? BTW those tower of power slant 6's were bullet proof. 10:06 sloping roofline?11:35 overly grandiose? And the '60 Cadillac wasn't?11:52 the fins seemed outdated? They would be on cars another 2 years.12:42 the 289 hi po produced "only 271 horsepower". I don't know that sounds pretty damn good to me. If you wanted a more potent Comet try one with a 427 with the fiberglass front end. 12:47 yo'u're comparing a Comet to a GTO which had a 389 triple 2 barrel and WAS THE 1ST MUSCLE CAR? I'm done. Not quite. 14:05 it's an Edsel sold, for the final 2 years, at your Edsel Lincoln Mercury dealer.15:52 that particular Edsel is owned by a gentleman in Chicago's North suburbs. It is 1 of only 2 in that butter cup yellow color. The '60's were the ugliest, just a gussied up '60 Ford with goofy tail lights and turn signals that look like they were an afterthought. Ford knew the end was near and just threw this together at the last minute. Gone was the distinctive look of the '58 and the '59 which, IMO, was one of the prettiest cars of the '50's. Long live the Edsel!
