WOW! Love the transition you did there! Love the end song since a kid - The first one - not so much! Trivia: When Spielberg asked for a theme and this was what he was originally given, he didn't like it and thought the conductor was putting him on! HE later realized that just those two notes was all it would take to scare the hell out of an audience! Kudos to the Great John Williams!

Yes! Williams first played it on the piano for him like this (the final film version is played on a string bass). Spielberg genuinely thought it was a joke, he didn’t see how two notes could be scary. He later admitted how wrong he was! 🦈

Yeah, you've obviously never played this piece because if you had, you'd know even the second half isn't difficult. I learned this piece in 6th grade (I'm a classical pianist). Moreover, your story just simply isn't true...not even a little. Any classical pianist who has played Fur Elise knows that it was most likely composed for a woman named Therese, to whom Beethoven proposed at one point. However, historians also speculate that it could have been composed for at least two other female candidates, named Elisabeth Rockel and Elise Barensfeld. In any case, Therese Malfatti (whom is largely accepted as being the person for whom the Bagatelle was written) was actually the person who Beethoven named in the manuscript's dedication.

Oh man you got me. Hearing those notes I was like "ah Jaws!" But then after that at end something else which was quite a surprise but I relieved lol

I literally got an ad for an app that apparently pauses every single time. You hit a wrong note, and they were playing this very song in that ad, so I actually predicted what was going to happen!

The old *Jaws* 2-note scare. Everyone knows it's scary, but nobody really knows why. It's neuroligically jarring/scary, for some unknown reason, but it's well known to be effective. Beethoven used it as a tease in Fur Elise - a few unsettling semitones, then right into a simple minor progression for relief. Later in the piece he goes to *major* scale, which is sort of like taking a nice gulp of milk and then eating something sweet after burning your tongue with some spicy-hot chili. You enjoyed the chil, but it kind of stings. Drink milk-all better. Minor scale=disturbing. Major scale=happy & caref-free. Everyone knows this, but nobody really knows why.

@@andriescarstens9245 im not an expert but i think part of the reason is because of jaws, but even without that knowledge, a minor scale in general gives off a unsettling/odd feel. obviously this one in general is the jaws theme, but taking any minor scale will give you a similar effect, just not amplified by current knowledge. i could be wrong tho

It's true. There are few notes as scary as those that lead into Fur Elise for the simple reason that it's the song nearly everyone plays when testing a piano. If you work in a music store, it almost makes your head explode.

This video was, at least for me, 80% predictable. I knew the two notes were the ones of the "Jaws" theme, but when I realized he was using D# and E I immediately thought of "Für Elise". What I didn't expect at all is The Licc at the end of the video 😂.

I was weirded out by why he was playing jaws wrong and then I realized fur elise.

Very impressive that you learned this in just 2 hours.

The beginning part sounds like the theme for a beautiful prison

To be honest, as a child I was terrified of Für Elise, it remembered me of the movie "It" I was forced to watch as a five years old. I'm still slightly terrified of that song.

I find this hilarious as this now reminds me of when my mom forced me to watch “It” with her when I was perhaps around 7-9 years old and I thought I was going to be terrified of it but turns out I was completely fine and was just grossed out by some bits I watched the whole movie while my mother fell asleep half way in 😭
