The 12 Real Dental Specialties

Board Certified Prosthodontist and Board-Certified implant Dentist, Dr. David McFadden, discusses the true, legitimate 12 recognized Specialties in the field of dentistry.
His website is: www.dentalimplantcenter.com
There are a lot of terms used today in marketing dental care to the public that masquerades as a “Specialty” of some sort or another - but some of the most common “Specialty” terms you’ve probably heard the most, are actually not even specialties at all!
Here, he reviews all 12 of the dental specialties according to the American dental Association and outlines what each one specializes IN.

Nice video doc. Where i live we have to study 6 years to become a dentist and I'm in my 3rd year now. I have forward head and abnormally curved neck that compresses the nerves of my right hand and also neck pain. It's chronic and I've been struggling with this pain ever since i chose dentistry over medicine whichwas three years ago. What would be a well paid specialty that doesn't require neck bending? The pain is really bad right now but with the right therapy it might get better so that i can at least finish school. For example, does an oral medicine or dental radiography specialist make as much money as a specialist in the field of medicine that doesn't perform surgeries? And finally, is it a good idea to quit studying dentistry and start studying medicine? It's hard but i think i can do it. I'm 21 years old.

My best advice would be Orthodontics. In the USA the assistants do most of the bending, hard work. Orthodontists can do well financially if they have a high volume practice. Oral Radiology and Oral Medicine are mostly university based specialties where income is limited. I don't think you could find a medical specialty that is less labor intensive than Orthodontics but perhaps Psychiatry or Radiology. I hope this helps.

It's not considered a speciality in Saudi Arabia , If you want to do implants you should be either a Periodontist or an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon
