When he says "it's not what we do here", he means that the UFC's thing is not gimmick fights, the UFC's thing is matching up fighters to find out who the best in the world is. I hear yah. I would have killed for that fight. But it was problematic in terms of outcome. If Silva smashed GSP in one round, then boom, their biggest PPV star, GSP, drops massively in popularity. If GSP decisioned Silva then UFCs “P4P king” looks weak. UFC makes their fuck you money on star-power. And to make one of their biggest stars potentially look weak was a risk they weren’t willing to take at the time.

No fighter is ever 100% after a training camp. Even the fighters that no longer spar, still have injuries come fight night. Lesnar got wrecked, and would get wrecked 9/10 times fighting Overeem during his horsemeat phase.
