I'm so fed up with many disc manufacturers who are only producing max weight discs, thereby feeding the false idea that everyone should throw max weights like the pros. So many newbies are buying these heavy discs because they don't know any better only to find out their new discs fly like lead bricks. Sadly the main reason they're only making max weight discs is to streamline production and increase quantity output without regard for the varying skills of buyers. I'm on the edge as far as max weight putters and mids go. I know it makes them more consistent but it also means you have to throw them a lot harder to reach the target which means less accuracy even on shorter shots. Personally I would never buy anything above 170g. Lots of good advice in this video!

I mostly agree. The only semi issue I have is about disc weights. Some molds will vary in stability (same plastic/run) because of different weights. A max weight might be more understable than lower weights, making it easier to throw at slower speeds.

I carry 35 to 40 discs for most my casual rounds to practice throwing 3 to 5 shots per hole. But for an actual competitive round where I'm throwing 1 disc per hole I only need to bag about 12 to 15 discs max. And even then i could probably carry less without seeing much of a change if any in my average score.

Having only played about half a year I have made many of the mentioned mistakes. I am now trying to buy lighter discs but what annoys me is that it’s hard to get the information about what weights a disc is produced in. The max weight is always available through PDGA. An example, I have a 174g Kastaplast Falk which I like but I thought I might try a lighter version. So I was thinking “What is the lightest Falk produced?”. The information is not even available at the Kastaplast website…

That's the case for many courses. Not a good excuse to not stretch (especially when there are some like Disc Golf Strong warm-up that doesn't take more than a few minutes). And nothing should prevent you from doing some practice putts and drives on a hole as long as you let players on the hole complete it.
