    I'm so fed up with many disc manufacturers who are only producing max weight discs, thereby feeding the false idea that everyone should throw max weights like the pros. So many newbies are buying these heavy discs because they don't know any better only to find out their new discs fly like lead bricks. Sadly the main reason they're only making max weight discs is to streamline production and increase quantity output without regard for the varying skills of buyers. I'm on the edge as far as max weight putters and mids go. I know it makes them more consistent but it also means you have to throw them a lot harder to reach the target which means less accuracy even on shorter shots. Personally I would never buy anything above 170g. Lots of good advice in this video!

    Solid Vlog. The Glitch is a great warmup disc with your friends. If not, I am a big fan of having fewer disc choices and it makes it easier to know which disc you need for each shot. I normally carry only 12 discs per round. 14 when I add only putters to my bag.

    Very good points! Lighter weight discs help a ton. Despite the brand you throw, you should look to Innova, MVP, etc for their lighter weights starting with 7 speeds in my opinion.

    I mostly agree. The only semi issue I have is about disc weights. Some molds will vary in stability (same plastic/run) because of different weights. A max weight might be more understable than lower weights, making it easier to throw at slower speeds.

  • @Arrica101

    @Arrica101

    I can't think of a single disc that is going to be more understable at a higher weight. The opposite is true

    Too many discs. Guilty as charged. My excuse is that I don't really have time for field work so I carry some discs that I'm trying out and throw second shots with them on casual rounds. We played a 5 disc only round with my boys last fall. Ended up matching our best scores at our private 9 hole course.

  • @JustDisc

    To each there own! There are many players at there that do well carrying 30+ discs. In the end, it’s whatever works best for you. If you are happy with your game, there is no need to make any changes :) 👍

    I carry 35 to 40 discs for most my casual rounds to practice throwing 3 to 5 shots per hole. But for an actual competitive round where I'm throwing 1 disc per hole I only need to bag about 12 to 15 discs max. And even then i could probably carry less without seeing much of a change if any in my average score.

    One thing that I have seen quite a bit is over thinking a shot and I'm guilty of it myself. Taking 1 or 2 pump fakes on a put is fine, taking 6 or 7 is doing you no favours. Look at the shot you want but don't over stress it, just get on and throw the disc like you know how

    Having only played about half a year I have made many of the mentioned mistakes. I am now trying to buy lighter discs but what annoys me is that it’s hard to get the information about what weights a disc is produced in. The max weight is always available through PDGA. An example, I have a 174g Kastaplast Falk which I like but I thought I might try a lighter version. So I was thinking “What is the lightest Falk produced?”. The information is not even available at the Kastaplast website…

  • @JustDisc

    @JustDisc

    Yeah weight information isn't provided frequently. Your best bet is always to head into stores and look at the discs. Brign your own scale honestly since the weights are often not correct. Sorry for the reply!

    Why would more air density make the disc more overstable? It's the exact opposite. Just like how playing at elevation in thinner air makes the disc more overstable.

    That's the case for many courses. Not a good excuse to not stretch (especially when there are some like Disc Golf Strong warm-up that doesn't take more than a few minutes). And nothing should prevent you from doing some practice putts and drives on a hole as long as you let players on the hole complete it.
