A Pride flag is for those that are "oppressed" by what is NOT on the flag, i.e if you are gay, you are oppressed by the straight, if you are black you are oppressed by the white, etc. It pits one against another, as if to say a straight white man oppresses gays, blacks and women. That is ignorant to what is actually the cause of oppression, the cause is discrimination of any kind. Equality is fairness for ALL people, the pride flag is for some, not all. You can't solve discrimination with further discrimination, only by understanding that everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual preference etc is capable of being ignorant to what makes us equal, that we are all human, and that isn't what's represented with the pride flag, the flag is not for all humans and that's why it's divisive. Simple really.

Everyone has the right to be proud of their way of life, as long as it doesn't seek to destroy others. English people do not seek to destroy others, it's not inherent to what makes someone English. A Pride flag suggests "We're the victims, the good guys, those that are not us are problematic", it is a critique, hence why any time there's a new movement, i.e trans, blm etc, they're added to the flag but their "opposite" never will be, the opposite is inherently seen as evil which is itself ignorant, and ignorance breeds hate.

I do not believe in a pride month, do not want to see pride flags flown and painted everywhere, and think this new, progressive flag is ridiculous. I respect the right for people to be themselves but reject the politicizing of these movements, and condemnation and cancel culture, of those who want no truck with them. Guess l'm the wrong sort of gay these days - a conservative one.

Mate, I don’t think of LGB people as all represented under that horrible flag. I know enough gay people to know that. My own mother in law is a lesbian (thank goodness she dabbled beforehand, and had my husband lol) and I grew up living next door to a fabulous drag queen, who wouldn’t even let us see him in drag, let alone want us to sit with him in drag and read books. Gay is not new. My old grandad said this. And, he’s been dead 30 years! I don’t judge anyone by this whole “gay community” thing.

Why are we celebrating a sexual preference, what happened to it being private.

Tatchell goes straight to the default position of 70s and 80s lefties. He accuses people who oppose him politically and ideologically of being far right in an attempt to put them beyond the pale. It may have worked when his opponents were less informed than James Esses but not now. Tatchell also tries to make out that disagreeing with trans ideology is also to dismiss the rights of same sex attracted people - it is not.
