That Moment I Escaped North Korea

Ойын-сауық

We talked with another advocate of the organization Liberty in North Korea, Geum Hyok Kim. Geum is a defector from the ruling class of North Korea who didn’t realize the nature of the regime until he left. He tells his beautiful, reflective story of growth, understanding freedom, and realizing what’s important.

Think about it: if you grow up with a pack of wolves, you’ll think that the whole world grows up with a pack of wolves. If you grow up in the middle of the ocean, you’ll think that the whole world is like that, or you’ll think that there is no other part to the world. If North Korea was all he knew, then his only choice would be to obey what he knows. It’s really sad once you think about it

Amen! Well said. It’s tragic. The average North Korean can’t even access the internet beyond the limited sites that the DPRNK control. Sadly, I’m sure most of them have never heard of a VPN. I wonder if using a VPN would allow their online presence to sneak past government security and access the worldwide web.

People who are living in NK can’t do anything about it because anyone who would just think about rebelling will die from severe famine in working camps. And countries would not try to do anything because NK is so powerful that it can cause serious damages to any country that would interfere. I believe NK’s only hope is those North Koreans who escape to other countries. They have the freedom to do it, and they have the motive also that they would die to free their own people and country. I’m sure no one will see this post but I’m sending this message to those North Koreans who escaped, you have all the power to make a change in your county’s situation.
