Hi Mike, apologies for the slow reply, as always I am overwhelmed with comments to respond to, so takes me some time to get through them all. I think you might be right with the pipe tamp thing as someone else said that too. Currently I do use my right hand, but fun fact of the day about me, I'm actually left handed and I started metal detecting with my left hand, 10 years ago or so. After a few years though I developed something called trigger finger, one of my fingers would get stuck in a clenched position. I had to have a flippin operation on the palm of my hand. I was meant to be off metal detecting for 4-6 weeks, but was back detecting 3 days later with a very sore left hand. Since then I been detecting right handed. I can easily swap between though, you soon get used to it

How is getting permission done by you??? And is there places that dont require permission
@TheDukesOfDerbyshire
Ай бұрын
Hi, thanks very much for visiting my channel and for watching this video. Getting permission is the hardest part of metal detecting is getting new permissions. I usually use Google maps to find farms and places with land, then visit after 5pm or on a Saturday morning. I dress smart and use manners and be very polite, enthusiastic and passionate. Speaking to a landowner is a bit like a job interview, you have to quickly give them the impression you are a decent and trustworthy person. Once you have good relations with some landowners, they put you in touch with other landowners. And the more you ask, the better you at it you get. I hope this helps

Do you always have to request permission to metaldetect in England? Because I was getting into metal detecting but I didn’t know how to?
@TheDukesOfDerbyshire
Ай бұрын
Hi Oliver, yes, all land is owned by someone and permission must be granted by the landowner prior. You can get in a whole lot of trouble without permission as it is classed as theft and trespassing. My advice for seeking permission is as follows: Getting a metal detecting permission is probably the hardest part of the hobby and it can be daunting driving up that track to ask a farmer or landowner. But, the best way to get a permission is face to face, definitely not an email or letter. A farmer needs to see you face to face, and you need to be very polite, extremely polite in fact. I always dress smart too, I wear a shirt, trousers and shoes. To be honest getting a permission is a bit like a job interview, you have to come across as a trustworthy and decent individual. The more you do it, the better at it you get at it. Just be confident and try your best. Good luck. If you have any more questions, please let me know. Have a look at my Beginners Guide To Metal Detecting video for further tips in this awesome hobby. You can find that video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h6GGmrGgeZeZpdo.htmlsi=0XDKCILynLcmT5P8 Thanks again, and I hope to see you on some of my 300 other metal detecting videos. Gareth
