    I once found a full sovereign while detecting (1889). I then went over the area for the next hour and a half,but no others. You never forget your first gold find, you are dead right.

    Hi Michael, wow stunning, was that a Jubilee head Sovereign? You are right, there's nothing quite like it, finding gold coins is a special moment. I was lucky enough to find an Edward VII Sovereign on Sunday just gone, same area as the other recent gold coins I've found. Really having a rather unbelievably year, 3 gold coins so far in 2023!!

    Gaz, i really love your videos which are beautifully made, edited and the music is spot on... and what is amazing is that instead of just pulling the gold coins out, you take time to savour the moment... and have the prescence of mind to record the event... I found a gold ring last year but i didnt know it was a gold ring until it came out of the clod, it was a 14 on the Nox which is always a ring pull but on this occasion it wasnt.. I just fell back and stared then started laughing....and the bronze age axe head that i found was a 30+ on the Nox which is usually a BOAT (bit off a tractor) but i had only been detecting for about a month and i was digging everything... I think maybe now i`m a bit too choosy with what i decide needs to be dug... I also like how you marvel at the imprint from the coin, its so exciting seeing the imprint before the coin. I think what is also exciting is when i check the hole and get another signal..!! Always check your hole...Like you i`ve dug ringpulls, cans, lead, scrap iron, mobile phones, lighters, vapes, buttons, toy guns and cars, badges, copper pipe, bullets, all modern coins and victorian silver but the excitement is still there.. i also love being out on my own but occasionally with a detector colleague. I`ve just read the book " Gone Fishing" where Paul Whithouse and Bob Mortimer both agree that you dont have to have caught anything to have had a great day out, its the day out itself that makes it worthwhile, finding anything is a bonus.. Keep posting, theres gold in them there hills...:)

    I noticed that you said “sounds a little bit big” and I use the DEUS II and my friend uses a Minelab 800 and he can’t determine the size of an object, but I can clearly tell if something is coin sized or CAN sized. Something I love about the DEUS II

    Could be a skill issue but some machines give just a straight signal with numbers, and some others you can clearly tell the difference between a coin size target and a can. But truthfully.. the deeper a target is, the harder it is to determine it’s size

  • @TheDukesOfDerbyshire

    @TheDukesOfDerbyshire

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi guys, love this comment! I cannot speak for a Minelab, but yes, the XP Deus 2 and other XP machines do tell you the size, the shape, depth and material of every target within the signal / sound that you hear. You can use your metal detector to draw a picture on the surface of the signal under the ground. For example if there was a spoon and you scanned over it, moving the coil forward and backwards, you would see that the target is long. Does this make sense? Also the deeper a target is, the fainter the sound, its those really deep whispy sounds that I get excited about. The numbers on the screen give you an idea of what sort of metal the target is made of. This is why I always seem to have a good idea of what I am digging. Years and years of learning this skill. Hope this all makes sense. Gareth
