Hi Guys...I watched Albert's moment of discovery and knew it would rock the archaeological world! ... By coincidence I was in a PAS training session on La Tene period zoomorphic art last week. The speaker began by giving examples of 'bulls' in early Iron Age art culture; So I tried to post a comment about your find, but someone else beat me to it... When a photo of the bull was shared, everyone (pretty much all of England's FLO's and senior archaeologists) appeared awestruck...An expletif was issued... and then the speaker declared Albert's find potentially the best example of a La Tene period bull ever discovered in the UK! Well done Albert and what a good friend you are John. It was epic to share the moment a find of potential International importance was made...and for me, to experience the reaction of our leading archaeologists when they first saw it!
As an American, I get so jealous at the amazing finds that I see detectorists in Europe dig up. When we find things from the 17th, 18th, or 19th centuries we are amazed. It reminds me of a saying I heard that goes, Do you know the biggest differences between Europeans and Americans? Europeans think 320 Kilometers is a long distance, and Americans think 200 years is a long time. Such a beautiful piece of Scottish history going where it belongs to be enjoyed for many years.

Wonderful follow-up! I appreciate how you manage to shoot videos that are full of great content whist at the same time keeping things relatively private and anonymous. The full experience of speaking to the experts at the museum was cleverly captured by keeping the camera focused entirely on the finds and the process of investigation with the experts. Gives a real world taste of the process, thank you! The find is indeed amazing in its quality of construction and preservation. Good to know that it will eventually be available to the public to enjoy if it is confirmed as treasure, which I’m sure it will be given its beauty. Thank you for bringing us all along on this journey! ❤

We were just there again, in April, at the museum. When I was looking at those hoards, I remember thinking to myself, "I wonder if John will get something in here someday?!" It's a real kick in the pants to my dream that the fledgling, Albert, beat you to it! 😄Congratulations to Albert and to you for getting to experience this find. It speaks so highly of your characters that you submitted it. I'm sure many would be tempted to keep that for themselves. If ever the owners of the medieval fort property wondered whether they had an upstanding detectorist, this is all the proof they'll ever need. As always, thanks for sharing, and I'll be waiting for the next lie down.

@@thescottishdetectorist oh wow can't wait, wish I was there with you both, I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find his buddy! 🤞 😃
This is so amazing! I got a little emotional for you when they were talking about the ox/bull head! It's such a stunning find and hearing the professionals discuss them with such revery is just a detectorists dream. Thank you for filming this and posting it ro share with us all as we follow along with you on this journey. As an American my envy of even your most mundane finds is high but the ox/bull head is off the charts. Fantastic job researching your sites really!

Many thanks for the kind words. It was an emotional experience. Sad to give it up, proud of Albert for finding such an incredible find and amazing to see their response We’ve got two signals at depth within ten metres of the bull 🐮 with the hoard hunting detector but the grounds frozen. We’ve marked them and can’t wait to go back 🤩
Congratulations Albert on a wonderful find!!🎉
Just fabulous John!! What a collection! Congrats again to Albert on a find that truly will be hard to beat!!!! Wonderful follow up video Sir!! 👍👍👍👍👍
This is all so exciting, Albert must be over the moon with this find. Incredible!
How amazing! Congratulations from Michigan, USA. I enjoy your videos because I've always been interested in archeology/history and there is no historic metal to be found here. However, I did find a knapped stone scraper that Native Americans used to scrape hides. We are planning a trip to Scotland. The National Museum in Edinburgh is on the list. Happy hunting!
ZOOWEEMAMA!!! I bet Albert is addicted to metal detecting now if not already. CONGRATULATIONS on such an absolutely BRILLIANT SAVE!!! Thanks for taking us along on the tour of the museum too! COMPLETELY INSPIRED & YOUR VIDEOS ARE EXCEPTIONAL!! Cheers fae the Scottish (late parents) blooded lassie in Ontario, Canada lol Cheers!

Many thanks for watching Pink Power What a find, the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen found in 23 years of detecting. It is pre-Roman ie before 43AD then it’s going to be one of only a handful of Celtic ‘Scottish’ Iron Age finds from Scotland of such high quality and preservation. It’s an internationally significant find. We were out on the field yesterday with the hoard detector and got two deep signals within ten metres of the find spot!!! Problem is the ground if frozen solid like concrete 😢…. Roll on the milder weather!!! Can’t wait 😛

@@thescottishdetectorist yes, I know about frozen ground...we've had 4 feet of snow earlier with subzero temps so Ol' Man Winter will be around until late April here in west central Minnesota. Will you be detecting in forests then? I want to ask... do you offer the landowners of the permission a portion or all of your finds?

Totally amazing find well done. Also thanks fo filming this part of the process too. This follow up is a great insight into the importance of working together with Archaeologists, FLO's, PAS and museums. #onehistoryoneteam 👍 Congrats and a job well done, thanks for posting 👍
How much fun was THIS to hear what the experts had to say!! And thanks for showing the displays of silver and gold items from ancient times in Scotland. When we went to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, we got extra tickets to see the diamond room and gold room. The gold room had incredible displays of gold coins and jewelry from ancient times in Russia, from all over, east to western Russia. These sorts of displays are always interesting. Having taken a basic college course on silverworking, to see that one large bowl with the deep flutes all around it, gives you an idea of the skills and knowledge these early civilization artisans had, and how precious their skills would have been. Well done, Albert! the head of that Roman trumpet and the artifact Albert found look VERY similar.
This is top-notch content. 👌 your history knowledge is truly excellent. The experts agree with all your claims. It's great to see some off-field content like this
