Valerian steel is also known as dragon steel. It was forged with magic and dragon fire allegedly.
@Vyxse

My theory is that only dragon fire can kill white walkers. I think dragon glass or obsidian in the game of thrones universe was forged using the fire of dragons, and I think that is also the process for valerian steel. Considering that neither have been made since the doom I would assume it likely that the little dragon flame stored within each is the thing doing the white walker killing

Potentially one of the greatest episodes of any show hands down, I feel like every hbo series has that one episode that stands alone on its own merit; usually when an outside pair of eyes in the form of a director who bid for the episode can put a fresh perspective on the format

@@_justinblizzlethere’s a reason people hate them just because they made a couple of good episodes doesn’t change the fact that they ruined a near perfect show just because of their greed they could have handed the seasons to a different director while they worked on Star Wars but opted to stick with it to rub their names in 2 “masterpieces” at the same time and then ruined 2 pieces of cinema you can judge people’s work without being “haters” but yes I HATE them there’s a reason they pop up when you search up bad writers they butchered a song of ice and fire and Star Wars at the same time and then blamed the other for the others failure it wasn’t the franchises it was the greed of the writers that killed the franchises.

@_justinblizzle Out of the 33 episodes they made in the second half of Game of Thrones, only 3 of them are even remotely worth considering for the top 15. Seasons 5 & 6 were acceptable, but still not even remotely as good as 1,3, and 4.
Epic reaction! You may have already seen this explanation, but the general "ice zombie" population are called "wights" and they're just lower-level henchmen - and they don't explode into ice when struck with special weapons. The "White Walkers" are the grandpa-looking ones wearing armor and riding on horses - and only the White Walkers will explode into ice when struck with Valerian Steel or Dragonglass. So that's why you didn't see that happen when Jon used his sword on all the other zombies earlier.

@@generalmortars7557 Karsi (the female wildling elder) was a great character... I suspect that most of us watching hoped to see more of her.
The episode that kept us on our toes, and officially got us SHOOK of the white walkers....And congratulations guys, you finally officially met the Night King🔥🔥🔥🔥
This one adds so much to why this show is epic… the Hardome scenes took 55 days to put together and film, one of the great moments ❤
Tormund is one of my very favorite characters on the show!
This was one of the dopest episodes for me. Because this battle was in the far away past in the books. And it was only hinted at, then. So even for book readers, this battle wasn't really expected. I rewatch it all the time. I cackle when Ghost face's eyebrows make him concerned when Jon's valerian steel swords rings against that Walker's magical Ice weapon. He looks like a Scooby-Doo Villain every time.
This was the episode where I first started being truly worried about the army of the dead... Like maybe this would end up being one of those sad ending stories where good didnt prevail and everyone would get slaughtered until there was no one left. Every zombie thing is a solider that feels no pain or injury, never tires, never stops, has zero fear or mercy, never hesitates, runs, or mutinies, and every person they manage to kill swells their ranks. They constantly get you invested in other stories only to periodically remind you that not of it means jack shit CUZ THE DEAD ARE COMING TO KILL EVERYTHING!
This is one hard hitting episode. The army of the dead and their power is really showcased here. Suddenly the fight between the living and the dead becomes so much more clear... There won't be anyone to sit on the throne if these guys are not stopped.
Cockles are a type of clam. Like in the old song about "Molly Malone" In Dublin's fair city Where the girls are so pretty I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone As she wheeled her wheelbarrow Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!" Alive, alive, oh Alive, alive, oh Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh" She was a fishmonger And sure 'twas no wonder For so were her father and mother before And they both wheeled their barrows Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh She died of a fever And no one could save her And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone But her ghost wheels her barrow Through streets broad and narrow Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh

“That Hits Home Hard” wow nice play on the episode title guys 😂
Hardhome hit hard on the day. The EPG said something like "John travels North", we had no idea what was coming, utterly mesmerising and emotional.
Possibly the most important episode of the series, certainly high on a short list. Learn details about Cersei’s arrest from previous episode, Daenerys and Tyrion meet, and we finally see the Army of the Dead in action. The entire last part is put together perfectly….when you get to this point in the series, you know how tense their talks are and how quickly a known character(s) could end there. The shift in tension to “something is going on” and then with every escalation until you look up and there they are…looking down from dead horses. The final raise…to the sound of wind and water….demoralizing just doesn’t sound strong enough for what they must have felt
One of my favorite episodes of television ever right here 🔥🔥🔥
Yay, it’s the BridgeCo show! Have I mentioned how much I enjoy watching these with you? (Only every time.) A bit of trivia: In the script for Hardhome, when the Nights Watch boats are pulling away and the Night King resurrects his Army, the scene is described in detail. “Jon is standing in the boat like Washington crossing the Delaware - but with better hair.” Or words to that effect. Keep ‘em coming, there’s so much more! Peace from Ohio …
This is my favorite episode of the series because of the last 20 minutes.
Love this episode specially due to, "Oysters, clams, and cockels!"
To clarify something pretty important, White Walkers are the sentient ones like the one we saw Jon fight, the "zombies" are called wights. Key difference being the fact that WW are sentient while the wights are just reanimated corpses.
@robertszilva1304

WW can resurrect dead bodies (people and animal - we saw a horse for example..) like the Night king. For some unknown reason they are resistant to fire, wights are not.
My favorite reactors on one of my favorite episodes! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I used to gauge reactors by particular deaths however gauging them by watching battles like this are particularly revealing. Up to this episode so many little trinkets have been openly displayed and yet almost everyone just can’t piece the puzzle together whenever this first white walker battle happens. It’s also a deafening hit to the reactor…”damn wtf are we gonna do now?” 💜💜💜
“Oh My God Elsa Chill”🤣🤣🤣Cody PLEASE!
Every so often I'll point out the giant's name, Wun Wun is named after George R. R. Martin's favorite New York Giants football player. Phil Simms wore #11 or Wun Wun
I think out of all the reaction channels you guys have the funniest edits. Love you guys
Fantastic episode. You do need to understand that a White Walker is not the same as a wight though. So no, all those Wildings who have been slaughtered will not become White Walkers - they'll become wights. Wights are the resurrected dead and can be dismembered then killed by fire - as we've seen from very early episodes. They are basically zombies under the control of the White Walkers. They are no more than reanimated corpses instilled with the drive to kill the living. The army of the dead is made up of thousands of wights. White Walkers are far fewer in number and far more powerful. They are sentient and have the power to resurrect the dead into wights to serve them, and they cannot be dismembered by normal weapons or killed by normal fire. This is not revealing anything that hasn't already been shown.
The night this episode originally aired the battle at Hardhome freaked me the f*ck out. I had never been so frightened in my life watching a TV show. I held my bed pillow for emotional support. 😮

07:34 It's a form of insurance. The ship's captain/owner insures his ship against him losing it (storms, pirates etc). If it "disappears", the thin man pays the Captain/owner's family. Or not, if he choses to default. That's what has happened here. The victim's family has presumably asked the many-faced god for help/revenge.
This one my favorites! There’s much more to come, some great some horrible, but sometimes you just have to bear down and watch!
The Many-Faced God is how the Faceless man interpret Death. They believe that all religions' interpretations of Death are accurate and that they are all one deity that has inserted itself into every faith system. It's honestly one of the best interpretations of Death that I've seen since if Death did exist as an actual entity and not just a concept then it probably would insert itself into every faith.
“It’s Paul Walker’s dad!” took me out! Kicked me right in the giggledick 😆
Love u guys. Just want to clarify that "white Wakers" are the blue ice people. They can only be killed with dragon class and valerian steel. The rest are known as the army of the dead. They are just footsoldiers and can die but are revived by the Night King who is the ice guy with a crown on his head.

The zombie ones = Wights (controlled by white walkers).. The blue scary dudes = White Walkers (they’re like the officers that can create wights).. Crown scary blue dude that challenged Jon = Night King (big bad in charge of everyone).. 😄👍
The thin man is a life insurance agent that doesn't pay out when he's supposed to.
There are only 227 known Valyrian swords in ASOIF. House Celtigar has an ax. It is so prized even impoverished houses will not sell their swords.
The Thin Man sells insurance. He just doesn't always pay out.
So in the books this scene has yet to happen, but from Arya’s pov, we find out that since the takeover of Slaver’s Bay by Dany, slaves are harder to come by. So many of the slavers/masters have been going to Hardhome to “save” the wildlings, only taking the women and children, to then sell them as slaves in Essos where slavery is still allowed.
I think what you were guys were saying about Jorah being so devoted to her is why she is so angry, she never had any doubt that Jorah was loyal and devoted to her but turns out that it was a lie in the beginning. He always played the "you need to trust me" thing and she did and he had already betrayed her. I would be fucking pisses too, like idk if i could let that go. Especially since he didn't trust barristan and darrio and looked down upon them and they were more loyal than him
“That hits home hard” more like hits hard home!😜😜
The white walker with the crown on his head is the Night Keeper who is the king of all the White Walkers and their armies ❤
Haha guys you are normally so fast on the uptake *literal corpses attack* “Is this part of the army of the dead?”
Think you guys are still confused, White Walkers are like the one that Jon fought and killed using Longclaw. The White Walkers raise the dead and those are called wights. They aren't the same White Walkers.

Thanks for the reaction and upload. Been following your journey through the GoT episodes. It's a joy to watch you guys. This was a great episode of GoT. Some good stuff is still to come (sadly not only good stuff imo).
If you notice how the Whitewalker made quick work of the Fenn & how the Whitewalker walked through fire. You have to revisit season 2 episode 10, the very end, the Whitewalker on the horse with Sam cowering behind the rock next to him. Move forward to season 3 episode 1, Sam gets saved by Ghost from a Wight & the Night's Watch put the Wight on fire. This wouldn't work on the Whitelwalker. So, it begs to ask, what happened to the Whitewalker on the horse? There was nothing the Night's Watch knew they had that could of killed him. Why did the Whitewalker on the horse hightail it out of there? Later in the show, Sam was the first in thousands of years to kill a Whitewalker with the Dragonglass he had, only after he tried using his sword first. The writing was a just a little bit off. In essence, if there is no Kryptonite around, why does Superman leave a battle, when he could of taken everyone out in seconds?
the map updates give me so much serotonin.
I honestly wait for the game of thrones reactions every day 😂

The soldiers of the dead are wights (undead). The ones that appear to be in uniform are White Walkers. The leader is the Night King.

16:50 Sam should have asked Ollie: "If your mother and father had a choice of either you being alive and wildings that killed them being alive. Or the wildlings die and you have to die too. Which would your parents choose? " Then go from there. It's not about saving or helping "bad" people, it's about saving "good" people. "the end justifies the means" does not apply all times. Killing Ollie's father (and other people) was unnecessary and bad thing to do. She (wildlings in general) killed them just to lure the Nights watch out. Instead they could just negotiate and pass the Wall peacefully..
@ScarlettM

@@robertszilva1304 Yes, but my point is that if you have an option of "bad" and "good" both living or "bad and "good" both dying - life is preferable. It's more important to get the "good" people to live than to destroy "bad" people. That's what Sam should have explained to Ollie.
