I agree that she should have been prepared for questions; it is her job. Were you embarrassed when Trump had a chaotic White House staff? Anyone who disagreed with him was fired. Trump made all appointments temporary so Congress could not question and affirm them. President Bush made appointments, none temporary, so the Senate could do their job, and the President behaved according to the Oath of Office. No real Republican ever behaved like Trump. Critical thinking is important.

Don't forget that a significant reason for emmission reduction is the transfer offshore of many manufacturing processes that also resulted in many job losses.

Asking and answering questions in the senate should happen like in a court. You are not allowed to ask leading questions and they are relevant to the hearing taking place. You should have to answer every question and can be prosecuted if you don’t or if you lied to the government.

The next biggest factor is sending manufacturing out of the country - mostly to Asia. Of course, this actually INCREASED global CO2 because those nations still primarily burn coal and have far fewer other environmental rules in place.

Clearly Senator Cruz came prepared, and while I’ll stop short of some of the stronger criticism leveled at the nominee for the office of science and technology, I would say that she was woefully ill prepared. She didn’t seem to have a very good grasp of the situation, and might have predicted some of the questions posed. This is especially true when President Biden has put a high priority on fighting climate change.

The changes in manufacturing, which has led to lower electricity use is another. Reduced fuel consumption by both consumers and industry is also a factor.

Renewable energy sources accounted for only 10% of total U.S. energy consumption over the past decade, and this did NOT involve a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. Electric cars, for example, are still 94% powered by electricity generated by burning fossil fuels. The "adoption of renewables" has had a negligible - practically non-existent - effect on carbon emissions.

Forget all that science mumbo jumbo, what the world needs to know, is whether she's a woman, a proud lesbian, her ethnicity, and how stunning and brave she is!

The oil & gas industry gave Cancun Cruz over $1.1M in recent funding, so obviously his job is to spin climate change to make oil & gas look good. But obviously natural gas is a HUGE source of greenhouse gas pollution, with leaks occurring at every stage of the process from extraction to delivery. Methane is 80x stronger than CO2 in warming.

We need to change to people that have power. We need to educate ourselves about the people running for office. That way we can elect the right people for this country.

Always the loaded question or the set up. Natural gas is still a pollutant.
