Before Covid-19, before the pandemic, before the New Year and the loss of my brother--we went to Florida to visit Jesse's big crazy Italian family for Thanksgiving. We thought we'd see everyone a few months later, but none of us could have predicted what 2020 would bring. The visit made me realize how much my feelings of "home" are tied up in family--and I've been reflecting on the ways my attachment to Florida has changed the more people we lose there.
