Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.

@@2fast2block Well, I hate to break it to ya, but Hebrews 11:1 gives a direct definition of faith, and it is "evidence in things unseen." I also love when apologists bring up the first two laws of thermodynamics, because they leave out a crucial part on the second law, and make a baseless assumption on the first. The part that you omit from the second law is the fact that entropy only increases in a closed system, but neither the earth nor the universe is a closed system, so this doesn't apply. In the first law, you're assuming that the universe came from nothing, and since we don't know what came before the universe, saying it came from nothing can't be proven. I also fail to understand what this "max energy" is and how it implies a supernatural entity. The amount of energy has been the same since the beginning of the universe, or did you only like to refer to the first law of thermodynamics when it seemed to help your case? Finally, what is it with apologists and equating atheism to a religion? We have no gods and no system of worship, it's that simple

It's not to roast Sam though. He's just an example, a prompt for the topic. He just wanted to expose the flaws in the logic of those who think that God exists just because of random fortunate situations while the world is so fucked up. The world is full of Sams. I had a friend in school, she and all her family were also Evangelics. One day she told me she knew God existed because her sister was born with a condition and the doctors told them she would not live to be 5 years old, but she was a grown woman with kids. I told her the doctors could be wrong but she insisted she got several tests and then got suddenly cured. I then told her, since it was recent events at the time, why would God cure just one little girl but let hundreds die in an earthquake in Haiti. Her response was that "many people in that area believed in black magic and other practices so maybe God wasn't up to that". I dropped the topic after letting her know that in that case her God was a hard pass to me then. She also told me one guy in her community was cured of homosexuality after they all prayed for him as if anyone wouldn't fake to be straight so that they could be left alone in that situation. What a joyous faith.

I was raised Southern Baptist in the American South. When I deconstructed my faith and became an atheist it really upset a lot of my Christian friends. They would ask me questions that, although annoying, were sincere and I was happy, or perhaps more accurately "obliged" to answer them. I was once asked if I didn't miss the wonderful feeling that Christians get when listening to "praise music". I tell them that I have music that gives me those feelings as an atheist and then I point them to this video. This is atheist praise music of the highest quality!

@@NYsummertimeCHI Kinda impressive that @Dan ofDunolly reinforced your point before you made it. Though your definition is kind of centered on celebrity stalking, rather than the kind that's most common - being stalked by someone you know, who you probably have had to reject several times. But I would agree that's closer to the type Tim is invoking in that lyric. But talk about an excellent example of how language around matters of consent is very important, and when we as a society use language that supports the predator more than the victim, it's only making things worse. Because, while I'm sure Dan was being sarcastic in saying stalking is proof of unrequited love, that's genuinely what some people would argue is linguistically correct. But they'd be wrong. Evidence of unrequited love is when the claim of love is made and the other person rejects it or otherwise makes clear that it's not returned - or in the case of celeb or distance stalking, the evidence is that the stalker thinks they genuinely love a person they do not know. People all across the globe love someone who doesn't want them, and they just move on or pine in private, without doing anything that could make the person they claim to love feel uncomfortable, creeped-out or genuinely afraid for their safety. They do not stalk or otherwise harass, and their love isn't lacking in evidence for it. Stalking is proof that it's not love at all, but obsession and compulsion that's born of a need to control or possess what you cannot have, much how domestic violence is about the need to control what you are afraid of losing. Just like rape isn't about sex, stalking is not remotely about love or affection. Because if you actually love someone, you want them to be happy, even if what would make them happy is never seeing your face again.

He just died but I think Stephen Sondheim and he would have an amazing amount in common based on the musical style of both, as well as Mozart which they both credit but then I can also pull Green Day into this argument if you like so I'll stop here. When will people get over the stupid concept that is something is funny it is not to be taken seriously or called art? If you have to call it any label at all it's philosophy these days, we've come a long way since take my wife please. I think people respond hugely to intelligence which people like Bo Burnham over in the United States and wordy people who are very good with the internal rhyming and structure of it all as well as the musical genius - but we don't bother to study music because it's more important to study things like bombs and physics and romance languages I guess I don't know I think all the money should be for music but when it's my turn to be in charge, I'd probably just be happy with a nice karaoke group to sing with - I have to add that it's a special talent that also overlaps with green days ability for Billy Joe all 5'5 of him to run around and own a stadium the way Tim played to a crowd of enormous proportions unheard of for comedy shows except Monty Python until fairly recently. I was hoping that he'd have a lot of stuff out on Netflix since I didn't find him for ages and I'm in America but there's the only one more. I don't even know what he looks like now I guess

As the entire song points out, coincidence on this small of a scale is utterly useless as proof, either to yourself or to other poeple, that omnipotent gods exist. My anger comes from only recently dismantling my faith and realizing how held back I was as a child. For a god that doesn't exist (and would be outright evil if he did. See the entire Old Testament) and a religious viewpoint that forces ideas into your head instead of logically reaching them. Tim's sarcastic dismantling of the pathetic nature of a god who "works in mysterious ways" so efficiently gets to the root of that issue. And you think Tim thinks. You're both losers. “Science adjusts its views based on what's observed Faith is the denial of observation so that belief can be preserved."― Tim Minchin Tim does not know what biblical faith is because he just does not care to know but he'd rather fart out lies. Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith His opening of "Science adjusts its views based on what's observed" Tim is a liar. He believes his god of nothing did miracles naturally with nothing as proof it could. He cares NOTHING about what is observed. What a hypocrite! His god claims to have given us the creation of the universe naturally but that can't be. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJ2B09yHj7y5iLg.html The odds are NOT there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWWTraePkabfkaQ.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4ttycOwqr2yo84.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpiV07WupNebkdo.html

One aspect of the 2LofT shows that the universe is winding down, usable energy is becoming less usable. It is clear creation had to be done supernaturally yet it is still denied because people are just too proud to accept that, among other things.

How sweet. His opening of "Science adjusts its views based on what's observed" Tim is a liar. He believes his god of nothing did miracles naturally with nothing as proof it could. He cares NOTHING about what is observed. What a hypocrite! His god claims to have given us the universe, fine-tuning of the universe for life, life from non-life, information for life before and after it began, the laws of nature, etc, etc, when we know that your god of nothing can do nothing. His god of nothing has nothing to offer and its followers only offer nothing of evidence for their god of nothing. That makes him nothing of importance but the followers of the god of nothing are so delusional that they think they do have something to offer to defend their god of nothing.
