Hello Kenny. You just popped up in my feed. I have had hemipheligic headaches for decades. I am a chronic migraine sufferer. When my migraine pain is excessive for an extended period of time, I will get hemis. I usually spend 5 days in the hospital for IV Depakote (seizure drug), Benadryl, Torodol ( non-narcotic pain med) and Zofran for nausea. They are quite scary for both patients and their loved ones. I’m so glad that she got some magnesium and was able to sleep. I don’t enjoy IV magnesium so a good sleep was nice. Sending all my love and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

I've been in/around the healthcare system my entire life. Situations like this, I'm reminded that our healthcare system is not as advanced as we think it is. There's still a lot of trial and error and luck (and Devine intervention) involved. Thankfully your wife is improving. All the best.

I take magnesium glycinate, magnesium L- threonate, magnesium taurate. 2yrs ago I went off Topamax , I was being given for myagrains. The magnesium therapy has freed me of a condition I had had since I was entering puberty. I am 71. Blessings to your family with grace.

@NancyDunton-hb9ir do you take 3 different types of magnesium? I take Magnesium glycinate at bedtime. My neuro recommended it. I would love to get off all medication. Right now we are trying to figure out if I am having seizures which are causing migraines. Bravo you! Thanks for commenting. Best wishes - Meg

My daughter has idiopathic seizures., I can't get her to go on a magnesium therapy. I take no Rxs. Went off because of metabolic syndrome causing CKD. The doctors didn't tell me until I was at only 35%. I dropped all of them and went natural only. I am healthier than I have ever been. Blessings to all on your own healing journeys

I’m going to be 57 next month and it’s still a struggle, but I’m thankful to God for His mercy and the love and patience of family. It will get better, God has mercy on us all.🙏prayers for Meg and you as well Kenny

I fell off my walker and hit my temple HARD on my oak floor. I was air flighted to Baylor in Dallas, ICU for 3 days, regular hospital for a week. CT scans showed a small bleeder in my brain that resolved without surgery, small blessings! I was transferred to a rehab hospital and couldn't walk. I was so dizzy that I had trouble even sitting up. My physical therapist did a maneuver Called the Epley maneuver and it worked. It calms the crystals in your inner ear and makes them lay the right way. It did take several treatments, my case was complex and involved both ears in different ways. Finally I was able to learn to walk again. It's been a year and I can now drive again. I still use a cane out in public for balance walking up and down my stairs to outside.

I pray she gets better. I’ve had Migraines for all my life. I finally at 52 this year, cut out all processed foods except red meat, some bacon, some ribs, a little pork, but mostly red meat, fat, salt and electrolytes daily. I also added b12 methocobalamin, vit d+k2. It’s a healing lifestyle to repair your body. I had hormonal issues, vertigo, dizziness and couldn’t drive. Essentially bed bound and it sucked! I started Jan 2024 of this year and I have improved so much. I can drive, I can cook, walk, shop, and interact either way my family again. Dr deans ReMag is a really good magnesium, but it’s a liquid - so you have to dilute it in something. I use water, but it’s a mineral so taste could be an issue. In 2012 they diagnosed me with Menieres so I understand the dizziness. Just thought I would share as I know the isolation and desperation that comes along with the recovery and healing. Prayers to your family, it affects all who see the one going thru it.

@vickydowney2618 well that's insane! initially Meg had to relearn walking. She is doing pretty good in that area. Recently, she has developed a heavy slur, to the point where people cannot understand her. We took her to the ER. Ther Dr said, yup hemiplegic migraine. Gave her enough med to knock her pain from an 7/8 to a 5/6 said follow up with neuro tomorrow & sent us home after a clear CAT scan. It's obscene what they put you hemiplegic migraine sufferers through. I hope you found a good neuro that can get you the help you deserve. Best wishes - Kenny & Meg

@@WrenchingWithKenny hi Kenny and Meg, unfortunately I was unable to take the medication they use for hemiplegic migraine which was a blessing as once on it you cannot come off it without. I couldn't understand what people were saying and wasn't always aware when my speech changed or my leg on affected side gave out, it is a truly terrifying thing when you can't trust your body to do what it used to automatically do. One day at a time, my thoughts and prayers are with you both as you take this journey.

You’re a great guy. There’s another KZread shorts. I watched Dr. Betsy grunch . she’s a neurosurgeon. She’s very smart person. I would definitely contact her for another opinion. I believe I think she’s in Georgia. I thought I’d let you know but this woman is phenomenal. Great doctor.

Well wishes from the Martin home where we have experience with a stroke. Ask questions of neurologists so you learn as much as you can. The knowledge will comfort you as you wait for healing.and keep hydrated.

I had vertigo once from a viral inner ear infection...I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! It was like having a 3-week hangover without any of the fun drunk before. I wish your wife a swift and complete recovery.
